vs. Brizzle Rovers (15/2/2010) - Live on Sky - Polls, Teams, Views, News

A ludicrously late notice change of date for this fixture by those at Sky means that there will be considerably fewer Addicks down in Bristol on Monday night than there would have been had the game gone ahead on the Saturday.

Regardless though, and let’s not make any bones about this, we simply have to beat Bristol Rovers under the lights on Monday. By the time the game comes around, Colchester could be above us (playing Stockport away) and Swindon could be a point off of us with a game in hand (playing Uddersfield away).

Of course, with 16 games to go there is still plenty to play for, but the fact that I’m talking about the teams behind us rather than Norwich and Leeds in front shows my (and I’d guess the majority of fans’) mindset at the moment. We are simply not firing on all cylinders and we desperately need to rediscover our early season form and go on a 6/7 game winning run to really “get back in the mix”.

Rovers have only one three in their last ten games including a defeat to lowly Wycombe and a recent 5-0 spanking at the hands of Orient – but that counts for nothing with Charlton as we all know.

Predicting the team is pretty hard at the moment with Parky chopping and changing in the past three games trying to find that elusive winning combination. I thought the team looked good up at Walsall and I’d favour replicating a similar style although bringing Lloyd back in for Wagstaff and re-introducing the Shelvey/Burton front line (with Akpo dropping to the bench.

Saturday’s results could be a real motivator depending on how they go but, regardless, we need the team to be up for it and stroll to a comfortable 2-0 win in front of the Sky cameras.

Over to you.

  • A solid 3-1 win
  • whether we win, lose or draw and whether we play well or badly everyone on CL will be positive and find no fault in the performance and insist we can still be Champions.

Back to 2 up top, We are not scoring goals and we need to win. Against swindon a good side we made ourselves hard to beat but for me on moday its a win at all costs exercise because if we dont then i think our automatic dream will be over.

Therefore an open yet attack minded side.

mooney and burton up top just felt although we were missing chances when mooney was in the side at least we were creating. jonjo centre mid to spray using the wide boys to good effect.
  • Should be formality, they are on poor form....but so are we

I reckon with the 9days rest, we will come out all guns blazing 4-1 win

not going to attempt scorers as dont have a clue who will be playing
  • A very confident and absolutely masterful display that will leave both Naaarwich & dirty Leeds quaking in their boots after both getting spanked at the weekend.
Go back to the start of the season formation 4-5-1 with Deon the front man and a Brazil like 0-4 win for us will play out in front of our eyes!
  • For those that are not going, do not have sky sports and just can't bear the pain of listening to "her" commentating then check out "Iraqi Goals" and watch the Valentine's massacre or eat your chocolates live.
  • I'll be rushing home from work to watch it so its nailed on 0-0!
  • I'm in the home end and the last time I did that was at Cardiff.
The Bluebirds won two-nil and we had two players sent off. A miserable afternoon.

We need a win - but I think we'll get another draw.

    2-2.

And if we win, they'll always be someone who'll say we were lucky, rubbish, ignore everything that was good and preach doom.

    ;o)

  • any team that has beaten millwall and swindon at home deserves respect
and if we can manage to scrape a draw from this banana skin of a fixture (with our 10 games without a clean sheet, rock solid back 5) then we'll be one step nearer oblivion which is where this club are going but don't mention it cos it might offend the preciousness of some by not typing shit like we're in with a great chance of automatic promotion or stay positive or whatever inane drivel prevents the reality of the situation that this season is a promotion or bust season for the club we all love in different ways and atm it's not looking great............although i'm certain we'll make the play offs!!
  • Charlton Win 2-1.

4-5-1 formation: Elliot, Richardson, Sodje, Llera, Solly, Sam, Racon, Semedo, Bailey, Reid, Burton
    Subs Used: Shelvey and Mooney
    Goals: Sam 17' , Bailey 88'
  • 3-1 to the addicks to get us back on track.
  • another 1-1 draw
  • [cite]Posted By: golfaddick[/cite]another 1-1 draw
  • [cite]Posted By: golfaddick[/cite]another 1-1 draw

    no, coconuts for me
  • 2-1 bad performance , a win.....
  • [cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]whether we win, lose or draw and whether we play well or badly everyone on CL will be positive and find no fault in the performance and insist we can still be Champions.

    typically witty and poignant response

    Zzzzzzzzz
  • to be fair large is right up to a point , except on the everyone bit ......
  • Rovers are weak at the back - was it 4-2 we won before Xmas they shipped six at the Os a couple of weeks ago

we can't keep a clean sheet but should score at least two so 1-2 or 1-3 is the correct score

put a few quid on each and thank me Tuesday morning!

This line on the O/S might be read as suggeting that Akpo will start:

''Burton could replace Shelvey if Parkinson opts for a two-man frontline''.

Hopefully that's not what it means, although I'd have been far happier to have read: ''Burton could replace Sodje up front''.

Whatever the formation, I think most of us would have Burton as the first name inked in up front. Then if it's 4-4-2, it's as toss-up between Akpo and Mooney for the second berth. Or as both have disappointed recently, why not McKenzie?

    I shouldn't worry, Mr Incorruptible.

We're still a few days away from the fixture, and the OS preview hasn't any more idea what the team will be for Monday, than we do on here.

And Parky won't let on at this point.
  • a 7-1 victory followed by the team doing the conga in their pants round the directors box
  • [cite]Posted By: kigelia[/cite]a 7-1 victory followed by the team doing the conga in their pants round the directors box

Even then, some posters will be moaning that we were rubbish, lucky to win, conceded a goal again - and all the chances we missed. And that Dave Mooney was pony, even though he didn't play.

    ;o)

Unless, of course, he's told Akpo, ''Mooney's had his chance, I'm now going to give you a minimum of three starts to prove what you can do''. In which case Monday night would be his third.
  • As we can't keep a clean sheet I would go for:

    Elliot

    Richardson Dailly Sodje

    Sam Racon Bailey Reid

    Sodje Burton McKenzie
  • Might be a bit early that for formation BigRedEvil, we're not mathematically safe yet!
  • A draw if we are lucky...
