Not a name that many on here will recognise but, in 1970 (and courtesy of my Godfather) I spent the day in the company of Florian Albert in Budapest. He took me for a tour of the National Stadium and for lunch afterwards.
Oh, yes, he was joint top scorer in the 1962 World Cup and European footballer of the year in 1967 and in terms of stature, achievement and style of play I would liken him most, in the modern era, to Davor Suker of Crotia.
As a starry eyed 10 year old it meant a lot to me at the time anyway!
Had a drink with Sir Bobby Robson In Lisbon during the Euro. I ve chatted with Phil Collins several times. Had Dinner with Richard Branson. Got drunk with Villeneuve, Hill and Coultard.. actually downed Heinekens with Hill, funny as hell. Got smashed with the whole Arsenal team during their summer training in nyon the year they would go onto winning the double. Top blokes Seaman, Campbell.. nearly had a fight with Parlour.. t-sser

I met Ricky Hatton at 4am in the MGM Grand in Vegas about 2 months before the Pac Man fight... I walked over to Ricky and shook his hand and said 'alright Ricky, how you doing mate' I then looked the the Hit Man who has 100% truly out of his nut and could not string a word together let alone a sentence but still a very funny experience!
Yes Addick Addict, us oldies are bound to remember Florian Albert, the last of the great Hungarian superstars. His performance against Brazil was considered the most outstanding of the 1966 World Cup.
Have met a number of celebrities in my lifetime, the best known (British audience) would be : Walt Disney - bruv-in-law business associate Duke of Kent and Aga Khan - was in school with them In a different world, monitored by his bodyguards, I used to play chemin de fer with Peter Rachman in a Wardour Street casino a few days before he got murdered. I swear it was not me.
I was in the same aisle in Sainsbury's as Melanie Sykes a few years back. The aisle was completely empty except for me and her and I still managed to brush against her. Grrr.
I met Joseph Heller in 1998. Sadly, he died the next year.
Unbelievably modest and pleasant man.
The person I feel most privileged and proud to have met.
