Spent a couple of years working in an hotel and met quite a few:
James Brown,
Level 42,
Dire Straits,
Kool & the Gang,
plus a few others,
Jackie Stewart,
Stirling Moss,
Emerson Fittipaldi in the paddock at the Hockenheim Ring many moons ago.
Staying in Stove Pipe Wells in Death Valley a few years ago our waiter was the drummer with Bill Haley and the Comets and showed us his gold record for Rock around the Clock.
Met loads of famous people, but the most famous ones I have actually had a beer and a proper conversation with are John Peel and Robert Plant. Also knew Mark Lamar long before he was famous.
And Mark "Gripper Stebson" Savage and Boz Boorer are good friends of mine too.
My daughter chatted to Princess Di in the buffet car on a IC125 on the journey from Glasgow. It was the day Di had the two chavvies at Alton Towers. Daughter went back to tell the wife who promptley told her to stop telling fairy stories. In the meantime I'm standing on a Euston platform waiting for them to arrive being eyeballed by a dozen burly suits in shades standing next to a blacked out Ford Transit ( A Team stylee ). With a massive insecurity complex starting to affect my bowel movement the train duly arrives and off hops Di and the two princes closley followed by my own royal family.
David walliams, Johnny vaughn, Stacey from Gavin & Stacey, bill bailey, frank skinner. And most recently had a good old chat with Robert pattinson. All of these are clients and are seen in the office every now and then.
Ruth Madoc when making an ad for Elastoplast and Roy Castle for a different Elastoplast ad.
Was at a birthday party that Dion Dublin was at but bottled out of talking to him, same with Martin Pringle in Blue Water, sat at Curbs table on sponsors night twice and chatted to him about The Who.
Prince Charles but that was a work opening thing so only a 'hello, how are you?'
- used to live next door to Brian Moore (of the rugby variety)
- used to be related (through my father's second marriage) to Michael Crawford - he was my step uncle for a while until he got divorced.
Did sound for the beeb natural history unit so,
David Attenborough, David Bellamy, Simon King when he was a teenager with his dad, who always turned up with films with no sound on them whatsoever, worked on other shows including Noel Edmonds (double yeuk), and the first casualty series, generally tv was full of wallys but radio and film was full of good people.
Acted as a "minder" for Buster Bloodvessel (Bad Manners) for a couple of hours. And did the same for Janice Long and a few other early 80s Radio One DJs.
Met Rolf Harris, with my son in tow, when he (son that is) was about 8 - Rolf was a real gent and is a hero in our household as a result of that meeting!
When I was a kid met 6-times world champion Ray Reardon and he acted surprised and flattered when I asked for his autograph.
I am quite friendly with "Ken from Bexley", possibly the biggest star in my list.
Any others I may have met I can't remember just at the moment - I blame the alcohol.
I got invited to a drinks party in the House of Commons after the State Opening of Parliament a couple of weeks ago. Bumped into the Prime Minister, introduced myself and had a chat. But, I also had a long chat about a wide variety of subjects with one of my all-time heroes in the world of politics, Tony Benn. It was an interesting afternoon.
[cite]Posted By: andyaddick[/cite]we took Bryan Adams to the Sunderland playoff game, also met Trudie and Sting, very rude, Bryan was a gent ! Dennis Leary is a proper geezer , met quite a few comedians at Up The Creek , all seem quite normal, apart from a chap called 'Charlie Chuck / Uncle Peter' off his rocker !
