Man of Steel - really enjoyed the 1st hour and the more developed back story than we've seen previously, but the second half, though epic in scale felt a bit numbing - just too similar in terms of fight scene, after punch, after punch...... Could have had one or two more snigger moments too, it plays out a very very serious drama at times. 7/10 and love the character, so wanted it to be 10!
Just seen Man Of Steel. Intially fun. Impressive. Kind of original. At times confusing. Too much exposition. Cut together by Edward Scissorhands. Way, way too many explosions. Impressed by the style of this thing.... but very disappointed and as a big Supes fan, kinda sad about it.
Saw it last night and agree about all the explosions etc. I read a newspaper review that said it felt like a big computer game over which you had no control, and it seemed like a very good comparison.
All set up for a sequel, and hopefully it will be a bit more about the characters and a little less of the special effects.
Superman returns had too much character development and not enough action, sounds like man of steel has too much action and not enough about character.
I thought Man of Steel was a good fun way to spend a couple of hours. It's one of those films that you kind of have to see. I might have preferred it had they not tried to squeeze so much into it, and I'm not sure I am totally convinced about Lois knowing who Clark is either, but that's just because it seems wrong as I grew up with Clark's identity being a secret.

I love Returns. I think it's hugely underrated, although singer himself did say there are pacing issues. The Plane scene is, for me, the best Superman moment of all time! Definitely prefer it to MoS.
World War Z tonight....thought it was a really good film, pretty much action packed from start to finish....when I heard it was a Zombie film I didnt fancy it, but seeing some clips recently I changed my mind.....a few heart stopping moments through the 3 D Glasses!
I can't remember the last comedy i saw where i didn't laugh once. Hangover III was terrible and it made me angry because of how bad it was. 3 out of 10
By the same director as 'Sound of My Voice', watch 'Another Earth.' Unlike the other this film is absolutely flawless - it's pure brilliance. The whole conception of the idea, through to its storytelling, and the acting. Brit Marling is fantastic as the lead role. I've never been compelled yet to recommend a film on this thread but if you like drama and suspense mixed in with the notion of a bit of science fiction to carry the story through then you MUST watch this film. I wish all films were made like this.
As a footnote, here's a quote from the director of this film that I think just about sums it up: 'Movie watching is a sensual experience. If it’s working right, you should feel it, it should be opening up those parts of your mind that are sensitive to texture and touches and even in the final moment, there’s a subtle thing, but very important in terms of my filmmaking'.

Watched this on tv a few months ago, a very good film. Agree that Marling was indeed excellent in the lead.
Not a recent film by any means, but just watched Black Swan again. Third time I've seen it, just gets better each time. Absolutely brilliant - 9.5 out of 10

I love a good zombie movie me and had high hopes but sadly it failed to deliver. Some brilliant crowd effects which I did enjoy but the both the plot and the script was lacking leaving me not caring whether characters lived or died. My main problem was casting Brad Pitt in the lead (and normally I'm a fan) and a criminal under use of Peter Capaldi. Why have Malcolm Tucker in it and not let him have a proper ol' swear up!

funny isn't it, I'm not a Brad Pitt fan but thought he did well in this film. Agree about Capaldi grossly under used.

...I agree that he did the best he could with the corny lines and plot he had to deliver. A perfectly acceptable performance from him but..........and stop reading here because there's a spoiler (of sorts) coming up..........with Brad Pitt being the hero of the piece you knew with 100% certainty that he was never, ever going to get eaten in it. Even during the final set piece, for me, this meant that there was very little tension or suspense in the film.
Once again not a new film, but watched The Bucket List again at the weekend. First time I have seen it since Mum died last year. Good god it was emotional the first time, but the closing last 5 mins tore me to bits. When he kisses his grand-daughter, it gets me every time.

Enjoyable but second best to "Iron Man 3" the only other film we've seen recently.
Looking forward to "World War Z" next week but can't do 3D. Makes me nauseous ! .
