Are We Gonna Sign Anyone?

edited January 2010 in General Charlton
Well, are we?

Cos this squad aint gonna get us promoted.

We aint got the bottle for the play-offs. Can you imagine it....Millwall home and away in the play-offs, our lot would shit themselves!

Norwich have taken over, are in form and have made a few signings. Colchester right up our arse.

Are we that skint that we can't strengthen the squad?

  • Yes - we are that skint !!!!!

Anyone we bring in will be on loan or on a free or because we have sold someone first - we maybe be able to afford £250k max. but even then I think that's stretching it.
  • Norwich are risking everything on getting promoted. They are looking into selling Carrow Road to clear the debts and then renting it, we all know where that will lead.
  • What are you talking about? We have the best squad in the league and whilst I'm sure we could do with 1 or 2 additions this squad is more than good enough to get promoted, we have a better team than a lot of sides in the Championship.

Thats nice and positive, we do have the squad otherwise we would not have been in top 2 all season and if we win our two games in hand well be level with narwich

come on get behind the boys! yes i would like a couple of signings but still we're in for a chance of promotion even if we dont add

Nothing changes with you D_F_T does it...illogical as ever.
  • Unfortunately we're on the same number of games as Leeds, one less than Norwich, but one more than Colchester.
  • We won't be level with Norwich, they have a far better goal difference. Oh, and it's 1 game in hand.

I'm not getting all negative, I just want us to go up and can see the consequences if we don't.

    What's illogical about that?
  • The next 12 games to me seem critical - over that period Norwich's matches (on paper) are much tougher than ours. If we are truly automatic promotion contenders we must capitalise over the next 2 months or so - I think we're capable with the squad we have plus a couple of signings in the mould of Mills and Youds.

Getting on a bit though, aren't they?
  • I wouldn't mind Mills and Boon at the minute!
  • I think now Izale is gone we can hopefully juggle some money and get a player or two in.

Hoping to get a fully fit squad after the fortnight off and hoping we can push on and get a run going.

Leeds may be about to falter a bit and Norwich are going shit or bust at the moment. Colchester hopfully haven't got their FA Cup drubbing out of their systems
  • Also - meant to add, that Colchester's clogging style of football is going to see them push on in the moist winter heavy pitches so we really need to come out flying
  • Akpo and Mooney on season long loans.

Puncheon on loan maybe but hopefully not a swap with Racon.

Thats about all I think will happen.
  • By saturday night we could be level with Norwich with a game in hand. They're away at Colchester so could easily lose.
  • Talk at the AGM was of a Left Midfielder and a Centre Back plus maybe one or both of the loan forwards but this was dependent on finance.

Izele going out may have freed some up his wages but maybe not all of them.

Transfer market seems to be fairly slow but time for things to get moving.

    1-1 ideally

With a 20 man brawl, mass red cards and points deductions

But now we're paying for Moo2's wages!
  • The season won't finish as it stands today.

And Jan 31st could also bring a couple more changes, which might very well include Moo2 loaned out again.

True, another £2k pw over what we were playing anyway. Need either Rangers or Celtic to have an injury to a RB.
  • nice to see a touch of realism creeping in although apparently it's herasy to say such things. Sodje and Mooney are ok but neither are going to score the goals needed to get us out of this division automatically, even between them. Our Burton is Narwich's Martin but unfortunately we have no Holt. Play off's at best and then it is a test of nerves.

disagree, yes we do not have holt which could be a problem. but match us up with narwich individually and we would shade it so my theory is as long as we play as we can we should finish about them. its not realism, its a bit of a educated guess?! although alot of people dis-agree like myself but its all about opinons and i think the least we can expect is play-offs from the position we are in
  • I agree in that we will make the play-off's however I just can't see us scoring enough goals to nab an automatic spot.

Well Celtic seem to be selling half their team to Middlesbrough so maybe they will need new players.
  • Zheng is at Celtic, maybe he could recommend Moots.

We can certainly score goals from all over the pitch but at the same time we let in too many, whereas Norwich score many and don't concede. I still have a question mark over Parkinson's tactics, which I fear will let us down in the coming months. Hope I'm proven wrong.
  • Norwich have conceded more than us.

Utter bollocks, if the arguement was we concede too many (which I think we do, and Norwich have shipped in more anyway) then I might listen, but we've scored 46, the same as Leeds, have a game in hand on Norwich, and they have to come to the Valley, and there away form ain't all that.

Seeing how Moo2 unwillingness to hold his hands up for errors on the pitch was just one of the factors that alienated him from the many of the other players I doubt Zheng would be in a rush to do that but we can only hope.

    I'd rather Moo2 went to Rangers TBH : - )
