I just wonder if anyone has actually sat down and told him that. I suppose he thinks he owes his agent something after coming from nothing at Dulwich and his agent probably actively drills that into him. Sounds like a bit of a nasty character with all that SLP business and threatening to 'go to the nationals!'
About Dicksons agent, im kinda putting 2&2 together but does anyone think because Dickson came from Dulwich (i.e not a premiership youth system) he could be an old friend or someone similar trying his hand at being a football agent, and hasnt got a clue? just a thought as I say.
Dickson was educated at the Brit School - maybe he picked his agent up there and he is more used to dealing with musicians/actors and the like rather than footballers.

It's definitely something I heard when he first joined us, so suspect the fella's been around him for a while.
I was thinking about this the other day when someone was talking about becoming a football agent, on TV or radio or somesuch. The problem is that if you're any use as a player you go to the top agents which makes it a very hard game to break into nowadays. So, in order to get a gig, small-time agents are always hooking up with small-time players and tend to big-them up beyond their abilities in order to try and keep themselves close to what could be a golden-goose. I suspect if Dicko had gone through a more traditional route he'd have had better reps.
we should be grateful that as a club these opportunities arrise.
although these are all positive points about pp, and he needs no defending - still remember that parky hasn't spent a single penny on players. in my opinion he's doing a very good job.
just remembered. The team left London early this morning and trained at WBA training ground mid journey. PP said this was better than one long journey.
Bury were training at Sparrows lane.
And the sign on Parky's door has been changed so it no longer reads ''assistant manager'' with the first word crossed out in biro
Agree he's the closest manager to Curbs since he left. He expects players to work hard for the team and each other, he's building team spirit, wants good characters and tries to get them playing good football. After the last few seasons last summer plenty of fans would have been happy if we just worked hard but didn't play football, but we've got a good balance which should get better.
Do like how he's worked with players like Sam, he knows they're good enough but need that bit of help. As for the comments on the likes of Ambrose and Lisbie, I felt the same in that they needed to move on and get a fresh start.
Interesting about Dickson and his agent, again have to agree with Parky that he could be a useful sub and that he needs to work on other areas of his game.
Henry you mentioned Parky's opinion changing on Basey - what did he say last time? Will be interesting to see how often Basey is used in midfield for the rest of the season. It's still not clear where his best position will be.
It's clear about Moutaouakil now that's a mixture of both attitude and ability that have stopped him from playing. Still, he should have been a better player than he is at this stage in his career, needed playing time to develop but if his attitude isn't right it wouldn't be right to give him regular games.
Sounds like he talked quite a bit about the young players - did he say anything about Wagstaff, Stavrinou, Mambo etc?
And it's good to see they've already got some targets and in the right positions, a left winger being the main one. Did like his comment about Pardew buying too many players that might be good rather than ones that would do the job, I'm sure I'm not the only one that said similar things on here before.
Thanks to Henry and everyone for setting this up and reporting back so thoroughly.
A rivetting and heartwarming read.
I feel even more that we are on the right track again.
[cite]Posted By: thewolfboy[/cite]Did he say exactly how he and the training team have turned Youga into a decent player?
Many thanks one and all. This is good stuff.
yes he did say how - working with a young sports psychologist and telling kelly to do the basics...
After reading the reports above, I feel a lot more confident about the season. Assuming the majority of people are correct, we have a manager who uses his authority well in a man management sense and has the on field work going pretty good as well. Long may it and he continue
Must admit I was one that had doubts about Parky pre season, based on the fact that he was the number 2 to Pardew, and thought that a fresh ' management team' was best for everyone...... After seeing and speaking to Parky , and his answers I feel that he has convinced me that he is the best man for the job, and that my doubts were proved wrong. He seems a 'Charlton type' which I think is important for the club, he did not make rash statements, but seemed pretty sound to me, that was prepared to consider others peoples point of view, but was his own man, and I was impressed that he was prepared to listen to the fans and explain his thoughts and actions, even if he disagreed with fans perspective. Obviously a big part of his job is PR, but as far as you can judge from from this event was not going to be mucked about by players and agents, and gave a honest answer to the questions raised. I had a word at 'half time' and seemed both friendly and open minded. A little honesty, and straight talking goes a long way in my book, came over to me as a manager that I would want to play/work for, Good to meet some fellow lifers.
[cite]Posted By: Ollywozere[/cite]Was it just me, or did Parky seem genuinly offended no one wanted his signed photo?
The guy who mentioned Lloyd Sam playing too deep annoyed the hell out of me! Hope Parky realises he doesn't in fact represent the thoughts of most/all the other supporters. "Watch the next match!" Think he should take his own advice.
Parky seemed pretty annoyed at the reserves situation to me and players like Luke Holden have become a victim of circumstance as he just doesn't have a proper opportunity to crack on.
The most important thing to come from the evening was the realisation that Parky is a 'Charlton' type of manager who is bringing back that mentality which we have missed for the past few years and I'm delighted that he won't tolerate the likes of Dickson's agent.

So it seems there were a lot of very 'annoyed' people around Olly???
[quote][cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]Ken did you tell him you wanted to play for him and what was his reply? :-)[/quote]
Ken won't be able to answer as he's at the team hotel getting ready for the Stockport game........
My 'agent' will not let me play Henry...... says I should be in t'he prem or nothing, personally speaking I would go for it, but I dunno perhaps my days as a 'Mascot' are behind me......but I would be happy to sponser a youngster like you for a game? .....or as a ball boy, remember 'a man's gotta know his limitations'
[cite]Posted By: PragueAddick[/cite]Cracking thread, great write ups, great news. I'm convinced.
Now we'll probably slip up this afternoon :-(
Yet we didn't ;-)
And Stuart Hall on Radio Five Live referred to Parky as an "Einstein tactician"...
Thanks for the low-down, everyone - sounds like a great evening, and I'm so glad that my early opinions of PP as a decent bloke and potentially very good manager have been vindicated.

Lol it does look that way doesn't it! Better make it my new years resolution not to use the word annoyed.
I'm really annoyed I mentioned so much annoyance now. Sorry to be annoying....

What noise annoys a noisy oyster? .....................A noisy noise annoys a noisy oyster.
Talking of oysters, and this has nothing to do with them, has anyone else thought that Parky reminds them a bit of Davey Moyse? He ain't got red hair and I don't care, but there's just something about his demeanour that makes me think of Moyse.

The nationals as PP said would laugh it off!

I think you can ascertain that from my comments.
Ken won't be able to answer as he's at the team hotel getting ready for the Stockport game.
Should have said hello. Say hi next time and I'll introduce you around.
You won't have to, he'll be recognised as the big yellow bloke at the bar
Did it look like that? Maybe it was me making a joke about PP being offended when doing the raffle and him joining it.
So it seems there were a lot of very 'annoyed' people around Olly???
