Not sure @Stig , I found it after. I gave a lift to a couple of hitch hikers and he was a festival organiser who specialised in this and aboriginal music; found this one really good. Scares the shit out me dogs mind
Been a fan of Rory's since the 60s, to me I think as a guitarist he really is up there with anyone who played the guitar, and his devotion to his music was second to none. Sadly gone for the past 20 years, I played a very small part in helping his brother\manager eventually get this together along with the taste 4 cd release in August, which started over 7 years ago..... The film shows him at the 1970 IOW festival in front of a mere 600,000 fans the largest UK festival crowd, that also had Hendrix, Free, The Doors, ELP, Jethro Tull, Joni Mitchell,The Who to name just a few legends, his performance here shows the unique sound he created, and the blues music he played, on Gambling blues, to me is the best slide guitar I have ever heard by anyone outside the blues delta. I am biased of course, I hope that these releases get the recognition that the man's music so richly deserves.
Nearly 50 years on I still think that is arguably the best "greatest hits" compilation released. It flows like an album and not just a collection of hits
Never quite got Rory Gallagher Ken. I always gravitate to Stevie Ray Vaughan when I indulge myself with the blues. A remarkable career, all to short due to a helicopter crash, and this after winning a battle with drugs.

yeah, wonderful guitarist, but I think most people recognise his exceptional talent, like Clapton, and of course Jimi. Guess I saw Rory in my youth, and student days, quite a few times live. Like Jimi very quiet off stage, polite and focused on his music. Same as Paul Kossoff, great live, if you see Koss's performance, and Rory's at the IOW, it is intense, tight emotional blues playing. In fact Rory is using the Who's and Jimi's rig, or at least part of it in Jimi's case. Probably explains why the WEM amps screwed up during Jimi's set. Anyway been waiting a long time to see the video, well worth a watch when it come's out. If you click on the photo it should enlarge, showing the WEM, and Who Rig Stamp. That is the pose of a guitarist playing serious blues guitar, like SRV.
I know what you mean about the first band thing Ken. I went to see Ten Years After in a midnight gig at the Coliseum in 1971 and I can still picture Alvin Lee appearing on stage and being ‘sent’ (70s speak for happy) by the sound of his famous Gibson 335.
I always remained a fan - I thought Alvin was a fabulous guitarist, although I know that was disputed by some.
When he passed away my brother phoned especially to tell me. My brother also felt compelled to tell me that he died under the surgeon’s knife whilst having corrective surgery for the same heart condition that I suffer from. Hey, that’s what brothers are for eh?
Robbie Williams. live in Barcelona. Hard Rock Rising 2015 concert on the beach. I saw the Kings of León last night, so I am retroactively going through their catalogue, as I'd never Heard a track apart from Sex on Fire until the concert started.
Anything and everything from Jefferson Airplane/Starship.
The album Red Octopus and in particular Miracles amongst my favourite all time tracks.
Was never a major fan of the Airplane, but a big fan of Jack Cassidy the bass player....... Never knew he played on Electric lady land, and that great track Voodoo Chile...... There were all sorts of rumours who appeared on that album, (Typical of record companies in those days) I think it was probably the last straw for Noel, Jimi bringing in other musician's. Here is Eddie Kramer talking about it, there is even film of the concert he played with Jimi, but the Hendrix estate will not let you see it, God the money they have made out of that man, and his brother has been cut out of the estate. But when I met Noel he claimed he never got any royalties, and was one reason he went bankrupt, a year, or so after Jimi died. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2gdC99R93A
