Nobody has really mention Sodje, but I thought he was immense today. He scored a great header, put the ball perfectly on McLeod's head for our second and won an enormous number of defensive headers and blocks. He was my MOM, just shading out the excellent Youga.
[cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]Youga is hitting form was excellent.
The coaching he is getting through games and the playing with dailly is really paying off,my MOM today, outstandingly good, only dissapointemnt is that he hasn't got his dreadlocks anymore :-)
The radio often said our defence were at 6 and 7's - but then the above comments quote Dailly, Youga and Sodje as having good games. How did they look as a unit?
Rode our luck a bit. First half (Novak was it ?) had 2 shots that were not that far away but we didn't shirk the challenge and everybody played for the shirt and didn't allow an awful referee to put them off.
Good to see a game with both teams going for 3 points, huge contrast to last week. Thought we deserved the win.
Strong performances all round with some real plusses, Sodje dominant, Youga my MOM, Semedo providing the strength in midfield 2nd half and 442 working well.
Funny seeing Huddersfield fans moaning about time wasting though- just wait until they play Oldham! And what was their problem with Sodje 2nd half when physios were on?? Did I miss something?

Don't want to open a can of worms but did anyone else hear some not so nice chanting towards Sodje by the Huddersfield fans during this incident? I could be wrong though.

Thought Sodje was a better man than any of them. Just stood his ground and stared at them.
I didn't hear any chanting, but there were at least a dozen fellas standing in the front row of the away end giving Sodje the w*nker shuffle in full view of the stewards who did absolutely nothing.
Can't be Arsed to read all the above:
Thought it was a Bloody good game,2 teams attacking each other, we won, but, can't critize the Terriers, they came to win.
9/10.
What a cracking game of football ! Pity Sky didn't show it - guaranteed to bring in more punters for the next home game.
Youga def MOM for me. Can't believe how much he's matured this season & how calm he looks on the ball. Well done to Parky & Kins for their management of the guy.
Thanks to Huddersfield and hope they make the play-offs, because on that showing they play really good enterprising football. Instead of watching their Oldham videos and following suit, they absolutely went for it, from start to finish. Haven't checked the match stats but I suspect they actually had more shots than us?
Really impressed with Parky. Would he be bold enough to admit that 4-5-1 hasn''t fired in recent weeks and change it? I'd have bet money that he would have stubbornly stuck to his 4-5-1 but he didn't. Dropping Shelvey was similarly bold. For me, the lad is now going to have to sit a few more out on the bench because I'd like to see the Burton/McLeod partnership allowed to grow and if we're only playing four in midfield, Shelvey is currently sixth in line behind Bailey, Semedo, Sam, Racon and the surprisingly excellent Spring, so he's going to have to await injuries, suspensions or serious loss of form to get back in.
But the thing that's giving me the warmest glow tonight (apart from being top of the league, of course!) is the blossoming of Youga. Watching him go from being the butt of a thousand jokes to SE7 folk hero is a sheer joy. If he keeps this up, he's going to get himself voted player of the season. And who on earth would have ever predicted that last year?
Subbing Spring at h/t was really harsh but it's clear that Racon/Semedo have something rather special as a pairing and just love playing alongside each other. Don't know if anybody else was watching, but when we ran out for the second-half, Racon went over to Semedo and gave him a little hug and a pat to say 'welcome back' that seemed filled with mutual respect and affection.
Really pleased for Izale. His running is fantastic and he had a bit more composure today. The shirt-off booking was silly - but may be it's partly our fault. He was looking at the fans not his team-mates when he did it and I wonder if there was a bit of ''I'll give you Izzy McClown'' in it.
Glad he got a standing ovation when he got subbed. He scares defences with the way he runs and there was one ocassion when he scared the life out of the Huddersfield keeper when he sprinted out of nowhere to chase down a back pass at lightning pace and was only a split second away from beating the keeper to the ball. He was much better in the second-half, too : was it just a coincidence that he changed out of his pink boots at half time into footwear that was a little more sensible-looking?
A few wobbly moments at the back. Not quite sure why because Youga was immense, Sodje was very good and Richardson and Dailly were more than OK. But we didn't seem to like their long throws into the box (of which there were many). Have we got nobody to do that? Because it might be meat and drink to top premiership defences but on today's showing, it can cause havoc in div three...
Wel from listening to it, it sounded great.... sounds like izale almost scored a wonder goal.... and the pleasure of being the match winner for a week will, IMHO, do him the world of good.... get that winning, I am a winner, feeling back into him, needs to keep the workrate up and parkinson needs to drive him hard now to start to get the best out of him... man managment , man managment ... we have got a player here if hes managemed right... and Parkinson knows we need someone to smah in at least 15-20 if we are gonna get up.....
so a great win in my view, and some fantastic work from Parkinson, mixing it up, dropping shelvs, making sure we have a plan B as Large calls it....
Semedo made a massive difference....
I was thinking as was going to sleep(always worrying when your thinking about the charlton manager as you drift off) can Parkinson hack it at championship level, and for me we are frail in certain areas, and Im not sure if we have a team that would do well or even stay u in the championship..... but considering he inherited and then cultivated a bottom of the champ rubbish team with no confidence, got rid of all the losers and egos, got insome of the best free transfers the club has ever seen and has now got a really good core team, although fragile, and prone to the odd slip up...
Well played Charlton, and particularly good for Izale ...
I've been waiting so long to see us play 4 4 2 at home and I'm just so pleased that it worked. People who have a go at Mcleod should look no further than Youga to see what a huge difference a bit of confidence makes to a player. If Huddersfield were the best team we have played at home, and it sounds like they were, then there is no reason why we shouldn't start with 4 4 2 for every home game from now on. Our first 11 is easily good enough to finish in the top two. The defence is great (with Sodje) fantastic midfield (with Semedo) we just need to find the best front two combination, which could well be Burton/McLeod. We should fear no one in this division and should be attacking teams from the outset (at home). As Nigel said, well done Parky who yesterday proved that he is not the usual blinkered, stubbrn type of manage that causes so much frustration to the fans.
Spring had his card marked almost from the off by the Ref. It was Springs foul that led to the Huddesrfield goal, which was a cracker. Maybe the yellow card (harsh) influenced Parky into deciding to bring Semedo on eariler perhaps than planned for the start of the second half. One way or another, it was clear that we looked a stonger team with Semedo back.
Good game and we needed to get back to winning ways. Didn't think it was a free kick for their goal. Hope Izale gets a two week fine for taking his shirt off again.
Funny that their keepers goes on for the corner and leaves two back.
First half we looked off the pace and thought we were fortunate to be level. Second half (after Semedo came on) we looked much much better. I think Semedo playing gives the players around him more confidence.
People are singing Sodje praises but in the first half the only header he won was when he scored. The second half he was much better as were all the team.
Over the whole game I thought we deserved the win and I hope Huddersfield play like that against the other teams near the top as they will take a fair few points off them.
My match of the season and both teams were a credit to football. We now seem able to improve things for the second half which is a big change from the past. Breaker watches the game from the directors box for the first half and joins Parky for the second. Is Breaker making a difference here? Whatever is happening, I'm lovin' it and so good at long last to see a team working well together and seeing that they're enjoying it as well.
