Entertaining game, opposition in the top half, hard fought win, three points in the bag, two goals scored, McLeod scored, Semedo back ........... surely nobody has anything to moan about this week - do they?
I preferred 4-4-2 to 4-5-1, at any rate there seemed to be less pressure on Burton who seemed to have been marked out of the last few home games.
Racon...had a couple of good shooting opportunities, but doesn't seem to have an eye for goal, otherwise a cracking footballer.
McLeod, took his goal well, could have had a second and was bearing down on goal when barged out the way, possibly a tad illegally and certainly robustly. But...another stupid booking, how many is that now for the season? And am I right in thinking that at least two others were for celebrating goals and therefore unnecessary? With Burton having hernia problems and McKenzie seemingly struggling for fitness we can ill afford a suspension to one of our few remaining strikers especially for for stupid bookings.
I liked the way Huddersfield played and wish them well if they carry on like that. Pilkington looks a good footballer, different glass to many others I've seen this season.
Had two old fellas (in their 70's) sitting behind me who didn't stop f'ing moaning the whole game....had to pinch myself to stop myself from saying something...Christ they were unbelievable!
Anyway a good exciting game...typical Addicks in as much we as all too often seem unable to get that extra goal to put the game away.
Credit to Huddersfield they came and gave it a real go....but I think we just about edged it....though we couldn't really have complained had they gone away with a point.
McLeods shot (that went just over the bar), in the second half would have been goal of the season...everything top class(a beautiful cross field pass to find him from Nicky Bailey) except for the finish....which went agonisingly close.
My man of the match is hard to choose but I have to say and I think you'd all agree, Kelly Youga didn't put a foot wrong did he!
Oh yes, forgot to mention, well done Burton...back on form today and lead the line very well.
Congrats to Sodje. His goal has been a bit overlooked because Izale finally did the biz. With Sodje and Semedo back we should be a match for most from here on in.
Nerve wracking at the end but a joy to watch both teams trying to play good football but with some fight and battle as well.
It was close and you can see why Town are doing well but we got what our play and crucially our two goals deserved.
Felt that the couple of tough tackles at the start of the second on Bailey and A N OTher gee'd the team up and we looked really up for it.
Going to cause some real debate on here though.
442 and we win
Izele scores a cracking goal and generally played well when he stayed on his feet but how stupid to take his shirt off. The first I can forgive but not again today. A really classy finish from what wasnt an easy chance.
Parky make some big decisions today. Sodje for Llera and it worked and not just for the goal. Izele for Shelvey and that worked too. 442 and that worked as well. Semedo for Spring and that worked as well if hard on Matty who hadn't really played badly but just isn't the holding player that Jose is.
Even Waggy for Sam worked although I'm not sure why Sam was taken off as he seemed to be hurting them.
And the Ref. Didn't think it was a free kick for their goal but what a strike. Nothing Robbie could do as it hit the inside of the post.
Top of the league, some of the chasers dropped points and either Leeds and Norwich (or both) will do the same on Monday.
Nice catch of the ball by a certain Lifer in the east stand, who I must not name in case I infringe his anonymity, during time added on.
Huddersfield were pretty physical and were aided by another shockingly poor referee. The decision that led to their goal was a joke.
Huddersfield were very direct and their front men gave Sodje & Dailly a real work out. Liked the look of the 21, thought Rhodes was quietish.
For me the real issue in the first half was our lack of a player to pick up the scraps in midfield and someone to break up possession when they had the ball.
Well done Parky for bringing Jose on at half-time (personally would have started with him). Thought he was immense when he came on. He did everything we could have asked of him. What impressed me most was the fact that he is always available to pass to when we have possession. Given he hasn't played for 6 games he also looked as fit as ever.
Izzy wasn't great in the first half, but gave them something to think about in the second - Parky has hinted he will be fined for the booking, I'd back him on that. 4 yellows now. Took his goal well.
How goals has he scored this season? How many has Dickson scored? How many games has Izzy started?. Stand by what I said during last weeks slag McLeod off festival - we look more dangerous when he is on the pitch.
MOM for me Youga again. Bloke is going from strength to strength. Don't remember him putting a foot wrong. Slightly concerned that if he keeps this form up someone might come with their cheque book out come January.
Nice little cameo from Mooney at the end. Looks mobile enough and had a nice snap volley.
All in all a very good day at the office barring the last 20mins of the first half.
IMHO we will switch back to 4-5-1 away from home. We were far too open to play that formation on our travels. Having said that we did look much much better with Semedo in the centre.
Really good game of football where both teams wanted the three points. Was impressed with huddersfield, but thought we just edged it. Youga was a rock once again, Bailey had a good game, captain fantastic as ever, really thought he was gonna score to put it beyond doubt and racon played well, well until he got the ball in the box then just didnt have a clue what to do with it! But god how glad was I when semedo came on, really helped swing the game in our way, not that spring was having a bad game just think semedo adds that composure and range of passing in the middle also he works really well with racon. Thought Izale ran his nuts off all game, and to good effect, really scared their back four. Elliot made a couple of great saves. Sodjes headed goal was great and clearly meant alot to him. And was really happy even without Shelvy we created alot. No one had a bad game to be fair, Burton appeared off the pace in the first half but 2nd half thought he looked good.
Oh and the ref, jesus christ he was awful, although his consistantly poor decisions really galvanised the team and fans, some all in all a good effect on us really!!
Best game of the season for me.
Finally we played a team that wanted and went for 3 points.
I dont know if the free kick that resulted in a goal for them was a free kick but the Town player certainly took it well.
First thing i saw on the bbc live scores on the mobile was, straight after Semedo came on... McLeod scored. :O glad to have Jose back....
could someone let me know how McLeod/Burton/Mooney were? whoever played.

See the other post-match thread for more opinions, for me McLeod looked pacy and ran well, took his goal well, could/should have had a pen and sent a shot only just over the bar. Burton played well and seemed to be enjoying having McLeod around to take a defender off him. Mooney came on late and had a couple of neat touches and looked ok.

what on earth were those first 5 or6 all about then
Like last week?
so one week makes finally? Nice one! The team always plays wanting to win but key parts of a winning team were missing that's all! We in my opinion could have beat any of our last 5 or 6 opponents if we had semedo breaking up play and Burton holding the ball up for a striker!

I think we are not understanding each other. The point I was making (not very well) was that Huddersfield came to win and not just stop us from scoring. Oldham last week were content in keeping it 0-0.
Liked Semedo today

LOL - you gotta love two people going for it completely at crossed purposes!
had a couple of scorecast bets today...had pilkington first + CAFC to win 2-1 and also had pilkington last with CAFC to win 2 - 1! typical!!!
thought burton had a good game today, seemed to win more headers than he should have been allowed to (not that the ref helped him out much) and reckon semedo made a huge difference in the 2nd half
special mention for robbies throw
thought town were good when they had the ball and was clear they came for 3 points, unlike oldham last week

sounded like he was a right pane for our defence.......

Could have gone either way TBH. Sodje and Dailly had their hands full and Elliot made some great stops.

Good performances all round and the partnerships of Youga \ Bailey, Semedo \ Racon are really important to us.
Dailly has been a fantastic signing and his experience is helping out all the defence.
Huddersfield gave it a right go and to win that was a great result.
Both teams with that performance would easily be halfway up the Championship.
Huddersfield were pretty physical and were aided by another shockingly poor referee. The decision that led to their goal was a joke.

No need to apologies fella.
It would help me if people were physcic and if my brain could sync with my fingers.
