  • Interesting Scott Minto facts

He's moved back to Bromley (he grew up in Biggin Hill) having completed his BA Hons in Journalism at North Staff Uni.

Quick quiz question: Who was his tutor on the course?

Ah yes, I heard that last night as well Henry...one of our ex-players...now what a coincidence that is.
Come on guys and gals have a guess.
  • John Robinson
  • David Whyte
  • Steve Claridge
  • The old Sheff Wednesday player Laurie Madden who writes for one of the broadsheets lectures at a couple of media courses, did he ever play for us?
  • yes he did. met him at chesterfield, he was having a beer with Bernard who run the PFA and supposedly Scott.
  • Scott Minto ahhhh, possibly my favourite ever player until Kinsella. Gutted injury and Chelsea stuttered his career. After Pearce and Dorigo, England were desperate for a positive cultured full back in the awful post Taylor era. Such a massively better footballer than Le Saux hmmmmmm.

Love to go and ask a few questions but will be working.
  • With deference to Henry I think it's OK to give out the answer to his question..........Yes...it was Lawrie Madden.

As a schoolboy Scott used to play for Biggin Hill Athletic, same team (but different year) as my two sons. There was later a rift and it split into two clubs, BH Athletic and Kent Athletic, but that was after Scott's time. And I played squash against his dad (Jim, I think) at Biggin Hill squash club. Useless info but it's Friday and I'm feeling self-indulgently nostalgic!

The greatest Scott Minto moment apart from buying me a drink in Henry's in Bromley.
  • Please remind SoundAs to get Lennie to sign the book "To Sandra........"
    Thanks.

    Another good night.

Almost an embarrassment of riches as either guest could have carried the meeting on their own.

Lennie told a few stories and IMHO much better than they are told in his book, sometimes because to be fair, he couldn't say all the things he said last night in print.

Lennie had to go back to the car to get another box of books so they must have been selling well.

Scott is very articulate and comfortable chatting away.

The usual smattering of lifers amongst the 60 - 70 present who can elaborate.

    Next Bromley Addicks meeting is:

10th November with Peter Varney. 8.00pm start.

Free entry and no membership required although if you do want to pay a meagre £5 to help the group keep going then that would be more than welcome.

I never knew he was so tight. Asked me if I fancied a cup of tea, then charged me £1.50 for it - and the sugar was extra.

Good job I had my sarnies with me.
