Bexley, please tell us you are on a wind-up mate!
Every so often(quite rarely in fact) you see a post on here that is so utterly incomprehensible that it's just incredulous................bexley congratulations (if that's the correct term), you've just provided one!
[cite]Posted By: cafcdan18[/cite]He was no Lloyd Sam but certainly not slow!!
That's true, sometimes players are called slow just because they aren't quick.[/div]
as silly as this sounds I 100% get what you mean... the modern game is so much about pace and power, look at the strikers people talk about... Drogba, Adebayor, Torres etc. all mix the two, can play as a partnership or the lone role... people who aren't 'quick' but just average look/are referred to as 'slow' in comparison
whilst I disagree with bexleyboy he's entitled to his opinion and as his differs to the majority on Burton so does mine with others on Mooney. Each to their own. We all see things differently. I mean, a few thousand thought some Brizzle Rovers player had been booked twice but he hadn't. Must have been watching a different game .......
deon being lazy doesnt make sense at all but he is not an out and out goal scorer he does win far more headers than beley boy has given him credit for he holds the ball up immensely well and doesnt get knocked off it easily, i think if we had a goalscorer around him he could do more than a capable job in the chumpionship we were too reliant on him getting goals last year thats why he didnt shine
mooney seems to be one of those strikers who does very little other than score and i dont mind those sort whilst the ball goes in the net but to me i reckon he could go a long period without scoring
apko now he is the sort of striker i like and being a sodje he will give his all but seems to have raw power raw pace and an eye for the spectacular if we can keep him fit
There's nothing wrong with having an opinion and certainly not a minority opinion. I have plenty myself.
What is wrong here is having a fixed opinion which no amount of contrary evidence will budge.
What they call cognitive dissonance
Bexleyboy made his mind up last season about Burton and now refuses to see any good in him. He could score 8 goals this season, work his balls off and be a key player and still BB would say he was lazy and can't score.
Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas simultaneously.
Bexleyboy does not have an uncomfortable feeling as he does not see the contridictory evidence and has only one idea. He therefore does not have congnitive dissonance; he seems to be an archetypical Charlton supporter who has to have something to moan about.
I think Burton is brilliant with close control and vision and who can bring other people into play either by quick layoffs or by holding the ball until re-inforcements arrive. Charlton would struggle without his contribution which is why he will not be having his operation until the close season as Parkinson realiases he is too valuable to lose even for a month.

"The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance by changing their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors, or by justifying or rationalizing their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours.
"Dissonance can also lead to confirmation bias (and) the denial of disconfirming evidence."
[cite]Posted By: bexleyboy[/cite]No one has mentioned the two glaring misses last night...he does not win headers does not look interested half the time and is a lazy sos and so...never looks like scoring from open play and has no striker instinct at all..but you all praise him where i sit in lower North they can't wait to get rid......Mooney, Sodje are far better players and should start
bexleyboy, do you sit in B block row N?
I'm sure you must be one of the small group of people who sit behind me and take great pleasure in slagging of Burton from start to finish?!
If so, I noticed that even when Burton was having a blinder the other night all you guys could manage was sarky comments such as "he's been replaced by an alien" "it won't last" etc etc
And then the couple of times one of his headers went astray, you were straight back on the "waste of space" "get rid of him" comments.
I always sit there and wonder if you guys are watching a completely different game to everyone else.
Just got to say that you certainly don't speak for the North Lower as everyone I know thinks he's having a cracking season.
He's our top scorer and near the top for assists too for christ sake!!
Deon Burton is a professional footballer who I am happy to pay to watch every week. He is a real case of a player providing value for money. As for his worth to the team...immeasurable.

In fact he already has.
Absolutely spot on.
If bexleyboy is one of the guys who sits right behind me then you have totally nailed they're attitude.
He could end up top scorer in the league and they would still say he is a waste of space.

It would be interesting to see how the team does if Burton was not in it, personally I think we would struggle to adapt and would really miss him. Even if McKenzie or Sodje were at 100% fitness. Burton has been imo one of our best players this season

Low and behold and who was it that scored the first goal last night and I think moved the ball on for Wagstaff to score the second.....couldn't be certain though as it was so far away....but I think it was him anyway.
Yeah he played a good role in the second, he took two defenders with him with his own run and left Wagstaff with a tap in. Sure he maybe could have scored himself but took the first very well and seems to be another mr consistent this season along with the likes of Dailly, Semedo etc!

Yeah, Burton's rubbish ......I'd only mark him 2 out of 10 every game, regardless of how well he plays.
