  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]To give Dailly the lowest mark in the team is staggering.

I agree. I haven't seen him make a meaningful mistake in the last four games. He was great again yesterday. His experience is a real plus and he is a calming influence on those around him.

Another captain on the pitch as far as I am concerned.
  • Elliot - 7
    Richardson - 8
    Dailly - 8
    Llera - 6
    Youga - 8.5
    Sam - 9.5
    Semedo - 8.5
    Racon - 6
    Shelvey - 7.5
Bailey - 5.5 in first half. 7 in second
    Burton - 7.5

    Waggy - 6
    Mcleod - 7

    Parky - 8
  • Elliot - 7 Considering their main tactic was high balls into the box he did well and the one save he had to make he made well.

Richardson - 7 Did well, got beat late on when maybe his injury was telling. Felt they targeted him as a possible weakness to exploit but never really got much out of him

Dailly - 7.5 Was in control and marshalled the back line well.

Llera - 7 Did what he had to do and so good cross field balls. No booking which was a plus

Youga - 7.5 Only once did a winger get past him and that was when JJ played them in. Otherwise was his normal agressive self and got forward well. Good to see no booking

Sam - 8 Good goal well taken and even better play to get past defenders. Also an assist and was so unlucky not to quite be able to chest down another diagonal ball from Youga. Took a knock and it was right to take him off.

Semedo - 8 Just does the Semedo job.

Racon - 7.5 Appeared to be injured early on but did well first half. As usual a class above.

Shelvey - 7 another good contribution for the 2nd goal and should have really scored when set up. Busy and industrious. Even clapped the fans when subbed : - ) Made a few sloppy passes in his own half which put the team unpressure but worked hard to recover them.

Bailey - 7 Had to work hard to win control of a flooded midfield which he did. Maybe stopped him looking so good going forward but did a lot of work covering for Youga which seemed to be the tactic to overcome Brentford's packing of the middle.

Burton - 7.5 Scored and an assist. Should have done better with the cut back (or left if for Racon but I like to see strikers who want to shoot) Great work rate again and linked up very well with McLeod at the end telling Izzy where to run etc

Wagstaff 7 - Didn't get much chance to shine at their end but was really impressed by his tracking back and good full back work. Was strong and stood their man up.

Mcleod 7 - Good cameo. Did ever so well to create his chance that was saved by the keeper but being hyper-critical would like to see him keep that kind of chance on the ground. More good things to come IMHO and against lesser teams he will fill his boots.

Parky 8 - Team selection was obvious but switched things when needed. This was meant to be our "first real test" and we passed with room to spare.

Racon injury a worry but biggest plus (other than the 3 points of course) was no bookings. Team kept their head when Brentford went a bit wild with two very poor tackles that could have been reds if we were Liverpool or Man Utd. Quite a lot of tough guys in our side and I don't think anyway with intimidate them.

Bailey - 5.5 in first half. 7 in second

    So thats a 6.25 for Bailey, then ...... ?

    ;o)

    Burton - 6.5

? A goal and an assist but lowest score?

    Burton - 6.5

? A goal and an assist but lowest score?

Must have been studiously observing the off-ball game. Never noticed the action.

That one surprised me more than any other score, Ch4rlton. What did I miss? Thought he was unfussily excellent.

Quite ....... It's not only what Dailly does on the ball and the calm composed way he passes out of defence - but his reading of the game, positioning, timing, covering and talking to team mates, binding the whole defence together. It's no coincidence that Semedo and Youga are in the form of their lives.

To give Dailly the lowest mark in the team is staggering.

I think judging defenders is very difficult from TV coverage - a lot of their good work goes on off the ball which means it's often just not picked up by the camera, so I can't comment too heavily on how Dailly played yesterday, but I would say in the 4 games I've seen him play so far, I've not really seen him make a mistake yet. He's been a superb addition for zip money and a very steadying influence on the defence. In short he's what we hoped Hudson would be but wasn't.

Currently he's one of those players doing his job very very well, it's just his job doesn't make him stand out in the way a Sam, Racon or Shelvey does.

  • on TV at a pub in Wadebridge, North Cornwall. Bumped into another couple of Addicks afterwards who had watched at another pub in town. Doh !! Great performance first half, not as good second half. Commentator, Scott Minto and Dean Kiely plus Curbs all thought Brentford should have had a penalty first half but even after seeing it loads of times I'm still not convinced. Elliott's wonder save was crucial, a goal then and it would have been game on. Cort should've scored right at the end of the first half and Weston blazed over when should have done better, Brentford about 15 corners to our four. Saying all that we had other chances, McLeod forced the keeper into a great save and his offside goal would have stood more times than not in my opinion. We were classy first half but did lose our way a bit second half. A very good test though against a team full of confidence from promotion and one I expect to finish in the top six. Shame we didn't snap up Saunders on a free from Dag & Red as he looked very good. Sam Wood on that display didn't. So for me :

    GAME

Elliot - 8 - a goalkeeper who actually wins us points and stops teams getting back into the game...The new Dean Kiely?
Richardson - 7 - can not fault him defensively. Some starnge passes forwards sometimes.
    Dailly - 7 solid
    Llera - 7 solid
Youga - 7 - alot more composed these days and doesn't seem so eratic this season
Sam - - 9 just class - probably his best performance for us
Semedo - 8 calmed the game down when Brentford starting playing long balls and putting us under some pressure
Racon - 8 Same as Semedo
Shelvey - 6 Drifted in and out of the game but still effective behind Burton
    Bailey - 6
    Burton 7
