Elliott- 8 (for that save alone!)
Richardson- 7 (Condidering he was carrying an injury he handled Weston well most of the time)
Youga- 7 (The confidence Pardew sucked out of him is returning almost an 8)
Llera- 7 (Has a great left foot)
Dailly- 7 (usual commanding influence a factor i think in Youga's improved form)
Bailey- 7 ( sound without being spectacular. I feared that first half dirty challenge had seriously injured him)
Racon- 6 (Didn't quite play to his usual high standard for me today so a standard 6 neither good nor bad)
Semedo- 9 (immense picked up every loose ball in a crowded midfield and then made a pass to a team mate)
Sam- 8 (took his chance with aplomb)
Shelvey- 7 (showed his class with some lovely passes but I agreed with the substitution as he looked to be tiring in the heat. He does as much work off the ball making himself available as on it and it looked to me as if he simply ran out of legs. No point knackering him when the game was won)
Burton- 8 (Covered acres and when the ball hit him it stuck. Took his goal well will be annoyed to miss the chance at the Covered End)

EDIT: I was there as Max Boyce would say

  • Live - although I missed the first five minutes (I want to blame TfL but my tardiness is responsible).

Elliott- 7, coped with everything, made a world class save, but a couple of times committed himself and didn't win the ball and left himself out of position, but when he did get the ball there was no messing about, it was punched or kicked well clear. Sometimes the communication broke down with the central defenders.
Richardson- 7, linked well with Sam, got a couple of crosses in, but did get skinned by their left-winger, maybe the injury he was carrying had an effect?
Youga-8, looked good, great positional sense, confident in possession got forward well, no dramas.
Llera- 7, solid attacked the ball, although conceded a couple of clumsy free-kicks.
Dailly-7, assured, read the game well, he and Llera dealt with the threat of Cort and Weston, although both let them get goal side a couple of times.
Bailey- 7, did everything well enough, but maybe didn't get into the box as much as I've seen before.
Racon- 8, ran and ran and ran, tackled, passed and kept the ball moving and kept Brentford chasing possession. He and Semedo played a bit too deep in the second half - maybe on orders - and that invited Brentford to come forward but they stopped pretty much everything in the centre of the pitch, forcing Brentford to play wide.
Semedo- 8, as above, swept up well and looks better with every game.
Sam-9, scored one by running at his defender and created one by hounding the LB into making a mistake and being there to profit from it. Looks brimful of confidence right now - MOM.
Shelvey-7,played unselfishly, ran himself into the ground and passed the ball well, but off target with a couple of shots. Seemed to play with his back to goal a lot.
Burton- 8, another great team performance, scored one, created one and as always played unselfishly for the team. Looked knackered at the end.

Wagstaff- 7, pretty anonymous didn't see much of the ball.
McLeod-8, great ten minutes and went looking for the ball and had some ideas on what to do with it once he got it. Unlucky with the offside, but it was the right decision.

The ref I thought had a good game letting the game flow and in the process ignored a few decisions that a fussier referee would have blown for and the bookings were deserved.

Parky - perhaps he could have brought Sodje on for a few minutes, especially when Llera went down with cramp at the end, but right now he can do no wrong. One thing I noticed was how happy the players looked, ok they should be with six games and six wins but their body language is that of a team really enjoying their work. The long nightmare of last season has been well and truly exorcised. The move up to Sam's goal with some 19 passes deserves to go into Charlton folklore - Brentford were gradually and patiently teased and prised apart, left chasing shadows as the ball was passed about - they say let the ball do the work and Brentford were kept very neatly at arm's length until the killer ball went through, played on by Burton and Sam's first touch was sublime, the finish clinical. A true team goal to cap a great team display.
  • At the game:

    Elliot - 7.5....really excellent save.
    Richardson - 7 Good
    Dailly - 7 Good
    Llera - 7 Good
    Youga - 7 Good
Sam - 8 got tired, right to come off when he did
Semedo - 8.5 better in first half but generally superb
Racon - 7.5 very very good, take his excellence for granted
Shelvey -7.5 if he'd scored with that chance he would have capped a very very good performance
Bailey - 8 in my view his best game of the season so far despite not scoring
Burton - 8 very good, a goal, hardly made a mistake, one wayward pass, one miss, very unselfish indeed

  • At the game

Elliot - 7.5 When he had to do it, he did it well.
Richardson - 7 Caught out at times, but i like the offensive side of his game.
Dailly - 8.5 Won't grab the headlines but i think he's a key player for us.
Llera - 7.5 Solid enough and loving his diagonal passes.
Youga - 7.5 Thought he played well and hope the fans start vocally backing him, as i think confidence is a big part of his game.
Sam - 8 Fed up of hearing 'he's found his level', it's more like he's found a manager who's tapped the ability we've known he's got.
Semedo - 7.5 I think he does the same kind of job that Fletcher does for Man Utd. Breaks up other teams play and then plays the simple ball to those with better passing skills. So strong.
Racon - 7.5 Lively enough but didn't get out of third gear i thought.
Shelvey - 8 Worked his nads off. I wasn't happy with the way he clapped his hands when subbed! ;0)
Bailey - 8 Best game that i've seen him have this season. He doesn't like left wing but he does what the team needs him to do.
Burton - 7.5 Leads the line very well and has some delightful touches in his locker.

Waggy - 7 Parky obviously has a lot of faith in him. Wasn't sure he was going to make it with us but looks a good prospect.
McLeod - 7.5 Lively cameo. Was gutted when goal was ruled out but i may have a flutter on him getting the last goal next week, before running up to pardew and knocking him out!

Parky - 8 Not a lot going wrong for him at the mo. I'm sure he's as excited about next week, as anyone, and i'd love him to get not only a win but a resounding win. He's got a long way to go to please quite a few fans but looking at Norwich and Saints starts, it shows how he's moved us on as a side.
  • [cite]Posted By: mart77[/cite]Sam - 8 Fed up of hearing 'he's found his level', it's more like he's found a manager who's tapped the ability we've known he's got.

Agree. Sometimes it's forgotten that this is only his third season as a first team player. Before that he was a reserve player who occasionally made an appearance. He's still young and will keep on improving, even if it's just being more confident and consistent.

Do agree about Dailly as well, very important.

    Game

Elliot - 8 - brilliant save - handling good (one minor error)
    Richardson - 7.5 - Another solid display
Dailly - 8 - How good is he at this level?
Llera - 7.5 - Puts it about - real commitment
Youga - 7.5 - starting to see more consistancy, technically excellent
Sam - 9 - MOM again. Really seeing the end product that we have been wanting
Semedo - 8.5 - He is just class at this level
Racon - 8 - seeing as his was carrying a hamstring injury this was a great performance
Shelvey - 8 - he has so much vision for a 17 year old
Bailey - 8 - His best performance for me so far this season. Was a constant threat but solid defensively
Burton - 8 - Pleased he got his goal. Worked hard again
