No - we will be making a signing tomorrow which is being rumours to be Jaidi/Misfud.
Bet we end up getting some league two reject.
I think you'll find he's waiting for all the decent signings to be snapped up so he can loan in about 10 players and then moan that he wasn't given the funds* time* any other excuse* (from his book of endless excuses) * delete as appropriate.
Now, now, AP can't exactly use that excuse for 'lack of funds'.
Would endorse most of what I've read on here - time will tell how successful this trio will be, as nothing is certain in footie, but my initial thoughts are that these are 3 very solid bits of business, especially pleased with Sodje. The Holden deal looks a sensible one too, effectively we've got him on a 3 month trial where we can test him out where it matters - the first team. He shouldn't suffer from the same problem as some of last years loans either as this is effectively his big chance (well, 2nd big chance after Liverpool!!!) so if he can't produce now he never will.
Fingures crossed Sodje stays fit but you can't really argue with Parky's transfers over the summer, especially given he's had £0 to spend. As other's have said, keeping the famous five together in midfield is like having made 5 quality signings on top (£5M + worth of players) so full credit to the board for not selling and to Parky for realising that keeping them together was priority number 1 and managing them right so that they were happy to stay.

He can find an excuse for anything mate.
I remember one shortly after he took over that there was a problem with the way the Training Ground dining room was set up!. I'm sure changing it all around was going to be the clincher that saved us from the dreaded drop. Unfortunately he seemed to forget that playing a settled side with all players played in their natural positions was more of a key to success. Still I'm sure he's learnt from his mistakes and you will not be subjected to training ground bullsh*t or constant tinkering with the team.
[cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Lol, fair enough. Lets not turn this into a AP thread which usually happens when I post on here.
I just came in here to say Sodje and McKenzie are good signings.
I agree both good signings and will play a part for the rest of the season. I agree with bigstemarra, I hope you sack him soon, but not within the next two weeks.
Sorry can't agree with the comments about liking saints. Always came across as smug we are better than you types all the while they were the premier leagues small team representative, but never struck me as a humble lot, always way above their station and still don't seem to get it. You are not big time charlies so accept what you are and prepare to battle as you don't seem to understand it yet, maybe a trip to lutons division may make you see it, but I doubt it.
Sodje I'm especially pleased with - neither Leon or Deon are that tall and he's a good header of the ball, something we'll need at corners/free-kicks into the box.
''Perhaps when he played the housewife role to Mr Pardew here, he would cringe at the lack of bonebone in the squad.Like we all did.''
Not sure that's quite what I remember you saying at the time, dear old Ogster! But fair play to you , you have always publicly voiced your support for all those wearing the famous shirt, even if privately you knew some of them were unworthy of the honour. Respect to you for that...

No worries mate. Thanks for coming on here with your take on things.[/quote]
Seems the Southampton fans don't need us to tell them that MR Pardew is not what was expected.
Ah, hindsight, Nigeldoubleyou ....... it's a wonderful tool to possess.
For a footballer to reach a decent professional standard and maintain that career, they must have ability. That's a given, despite what some fans may think.
But other imponderables include the attitude and character of the player. Pardew didn't really bring that into the equation when signing players. Curbs always did.
And so too has Parkinson.
And for my part - I also judge a player on how approaches a game, and whether he plays for himself or the team, and his character when faced with adversity. Then I admire his ability.
But even then, some players may be totally inconsistant and of suspect character - but they have that erratic ability to change a game in the blink of an eye. It may be the only thing they do that stands out in the game, but it brings a goal out of nothing - players like Ambrose, Bouazza, etc. Sometimes there has to be a place for such a player.
Trouble with Pardew, he wanted a team with too many players like that. And as everyone should know, if you build something, you can only build on good foundations.
We've shifted a couple of non-playing high earners and strengthened the squad.
Christian Dailly and Jonjo in particular may be more than willing to play all 46 league matches but in reality may well be unable to at their different stages of physical development. We now appear to have decent cover, at this level, for them both in the squad.
Don't like generally picking individual posters out, but Oggy i admire your approach so much. You are a real asset to this forum and i hope you never feel the urge to stop posting.
Same goes for Bingaddick, i've read carefully what you have been posting over the last week or so and i really think you've ticked all the right boxes with your general thinking of all things Charlton, and i think you always seem to look at things from a balanced and realistic viewpoint. Its guys like you two who don't get involved in the childish or personal stuff that help set this forum apart from others of its ilk in my opinion. So thank you.
You're welcome. You and Lookie created something thats good and it's just nice to be able to make a small contribution. There is no other football fans site like this.
What Oggy said about Parky getting in characters and reliable players, it's something I really like about him. Saw the same with loans like Murty and Ward, and should have seen the same with Gillespie. While the likes of Ambrose, Todorov and Bouazza have gone, we've got players like Sam, Racon, Bailey and Shelvey who can get a goal or set one up, yet they are hard working, fairly reliable and do a good job for 90 minutes. Like Oggy said, Pardew wanted too many players like that, and somehow thought the quality on the ball would be enough to get us through games.
Having a lot more good characters, leaders and consistent players around gives me that feeling we'll always have a chance in games. Compare that to when Pardew was hear, we'd worry a team would be too physical for us, or have a couple of players we just couldn't handle. That along with Parkinson knowing his best team and having a formation & tactics that get the best out of players will always give us a decent chance. Too often under Pardew and at times Dowie & Reed we tried out new formations, players out of position or an unbalanced team. Worst example I remember is Pardew playing right footed and defensive Cranie at left back behind the slow Basey at left midfield. Even if it worked, in the long term it wouldn't have been successful. I don't get the feeling we'll be trying anything like that out unless we're really forced to.
As for the signings, good day of business, two players in that should be solid at this level and a promising winger to give us a different option on the left. As said it's his big chance to prove himself, hopefully he takes it and ends up being a useful player. Finally managed to get Yassin off the wage bill (well probably only part of his wages, but better than nothing) and with McKenzie coming in we could let one of the strikers go in Fleetwood who never looked convincing, a better use of the wage bill. As a bonus McKenzie is left footed and can play on the left, and should be capable of playing in place or alongside Burton.
Good signings today, still won't be totally relaxed till all the deadlines have closed, still a small risk of losing someone on loan then made perm in january, don't want to be dark clouds just will wait till all escape routes are closes then celebrate.

He does so love an excuse.

agreed
you will soon be asking us why no one told you pardew was such a twat ;-)
If people start to realise we are talking about that twunt again, then there will be a massive thread full of abuse....
He still has the ability to get us seething - for good bloody reason!
I hope you sack him soon, so I can start liking your team again....

And that's evidently been Parky's priority.
As has been said many times before on here, it looks like we ARE getting our Charlton back .
Well done Parky and the Board.

Bing says it all for me.
But it's down to everybody to make a forum interesting - and everybody does!
I've had a drink Bibs and i'll even give you a manly hug :-)
Agreed though, no more nice stuff.
Thank god for that ;-) i thought this had turned into a dating site !!!
