[cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]I thought Shelvey was pooh today.
FFS Leroy!! You criticise Shelvey here & have a go at Llera on another thread. Just chill out and enjoy the fact we are winning, we are playing like a team & we are TOP OF THE LEAGUE. Why do we have to find somebody to criticise all the time? I've never seen so many moans. I dread to think what's going to happen when we actually lose a game.
P*** off. Read what I said about Shelvey properly - including what I've said in the thread about the knuckledraggers abusing his family, read what I said about Llera properly - and not just the bit at the top of the thread. Then read my ratings of the team in the ratings thread. While you're at it, why don't you take a bit of time and read a few more of my posts from the past - then, if you still come to the conclusion that I'm a doom and gloom merchant, good luck to you.
  • richardson has done well for me, so far better than murty, halford, and cranie all who have bigger reputations amd have played at a higher level.

[cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]I thought Shelvey was pooh today. . But then again, he is only 17 - I think everyone expects too much of him.

    .
    Is that instant self-analysis? ;-)

I think the trouble on here is that Jonjo is being over analysed.
Not many 17 year olds play their football in the glare of regular first team football.
Parky has given him that free role behind Burton and left him to do his own thing.
It's all a learning curve and he will make mistakes and wrong choices; live with it and enjoy him while we can.

    well chuffing said
  • Workman like performance, there will be plenty of these games during 2009/10. Walsall are an average league 1 team. The team are progressing well, and with a few youngsters showing, things are looking ok. I still want to see us against one of the league 1 favorites i.e Leeds, Huddersfield etc, to see how we really compare. My biggest concern is what we have outside the first 14, but Parky is well aware of this and doing his best with hands tied. So far so good.
  • Good god after having to endure the dross on huge wages in the last 3-4 years how can anybody complain...we have a team at last and a team who play for each other....and most importantly a team who we can actually relate to.....long may it continue!

    Spot bloody on.

Began to hate it, cant wait for the next game now, my boy is the happiest he has been supporting Charlton, honest, and he is 13
  • Was pleased to see us playing slightly under par and yet were still comfortable winners, it is a long time since that has happened to us.

The team is starting to take shaper although the overall squad is far too light to cope with injuries and suspension.

    MOM Burton
  • Er.. we won that'll do me.

    Deon MOM, Llera close second.

Richardson had a good game. Great shot in the first minute. Good solid player. Not so Youga, he is the weakest link in the back 4.

    Semedo comes from Portugal.

Top of the league 100% cant get better than that.

Lets hope its the same after 10 games.

Then we'd certainly be top of the league, maximum 30 points - and some people will be moaning because Robbie Elliot conceded his first goal in 5 games, and that we need a new keeper!

    ;o)
  • Not the greatest win i have ever witnessed at the valley but as so many of you have said who would have predicted us in this possition after last seasons exploits not too bad really is it.

  • Just watched the highlights on cafctv. Great to see Wagstaff goal again, he definitely played that very well, cool finish.

Llera re-confirmed for me my rating of him as motm.

Jonjo first to congratulate both scorers - as he has been a few times this season which shows he is in the thick of things ... and you only have to look at the joy on his face to see what it means to him.
  • Thought it was a poor game. We never had to get into top form. Semedo was brilliant. 4 wins out of 4. I'm happy.
  • A Very average Display from us, think a few players have found their level in this league, others are a cut above (When they want to be).

Bottom line is we won again, albeit against poor opposition, Semedo's best game for us & Racon again looks like one of our better players. From what we have faced so far if we do not make the playoff's it will be criminal.
  • Another win, really didn't expect us to make such a good start to the season. Semedo my man of the match, Burton my Dad's choice.

Dad noticed that there didn't seem to be so many queuing for tickets before the game. He optimistically said that maybe we'd sold a few more season tickets and that the kids are still off school so loads away on hols.

Enjoying this season so much. Seeing Waggy come on and do so well, really hope it helps his confidence. Great to see the kids coming through. Am a little worried about the inevitable injuries throughout the season and reading that there were so many scouts at the game. If we can somehow keep our Midfield together I'm now dreaming of going up as Champions unlikely but you never know.
  • forgot to say congratulations on your jack pot win stilladdicted

    agree....
i left at half time cos my 3.5 year old son(at his first game) said it was too noisey(lol) and he looked bored, it was the escape excuse i was looking for ...... the results are brilliant the football isn't

If only there really was a crock of gold at the foot of every rainbow.....!

I'm just happy we are winning and not just 5th.

  • Quite perceptive about some of our fans......

...."Skipper Mark Hughes laid it on the line afterwards – you must keep the ball at places like Charlton. Frustrate and irritate. The Saddlers did neither but - had they done - you got the sense the expectant home fans would have quickly got on the backs of their side."......
  • The next seven games will sort the men from the boys and we will then have a better idea of our prospects for the season. Meanwhile, I haven't enjoyed the start of a season so much since, I don't know, the last promotion season perhaps?
  • Ooh aah Mortimer says

"agree....i left at half time cos my 3.5 year old son(at his first game) said it was too noisey(lol) and he looked bored, it was the escape excuse i was looking for ...... the results are brilliant the football isn't "

The same Ooh aaah that never stops moaning about our lack of support (mainly away granted) :-)
  • Great professional performance. We just need to work on the killer touch. Defence is now functioning as a unit, too. All credit to post-April Parky. I think when you talk about really top managers you have to look at ones that improve players. I'd say that Youga is unrecognizable from the blunder-machine that put the last nail in Pards' coffin against Sheff U, so that has to be a good sign.

Off Topic: Spotted our rampaging full-back in the O2 after eating at the Brazillian place having a nice dinner with (I think) his ma (maybe hoping for more samba style, though not sure all that meat is good for an athlete)
  • Youga is a confidence player.

When he came back from Scunny, he was brim-full of self-belief and played like a Prem player.
    Fast, aggressive and effective.

A month later at Pardew's Charlton, he was playing like he didn't even know what day of the week it was.
And the crowd turned on him, which of course undermined his confidence and performance even further.

His Scunny manager certainly knew how to get the best out of him.
  • That's true.

I think some of it also comes from team spirit. He was saying how much more together the camp is. Specifically, I think the whole Yassin thing was a factor with Kelly. Removing him from the group has had the side benefit that it's made some others integrate better.

He returned from Scunthorpe some time ago, I can understand his performances suffering under Pardew's unique man-management skills, but he still makes too many fundamental errors - on Saturday he was caught wrong footed allowing their winger to get in a cross for what turned out to be a disallowed goal. That suggests to me that his form at Scunthorpe was the blip and not the time he spent at Charlton since he returned.
  • Youga is still a disaster waiting to happen and the weak link in the whole side.

For me though game after game he has been one of our better defenders for preventing crosses getting over, McEverley, Butterworth, Crainey and even Murty let over far too many centres for my liking. Richardson, too early to tell.
