  • It's all very disappointing. It seems drug cheat athletes or cyclists or whatever sport they cheapen have all the technical/ medical support they need to cheat and not be discovered easily. It's become ingrained in sport and obviously some don't see it as a problem. Can anyone explain to me why or how Dwain Chambers is still being allowed to compete. The mans a cheat. That's it end of. Why would any "clean" athlete even bother trying ? Stay clean and be beaten nomatter how hard you try or how good you are. Why not just not bother to test for drugs. Allow anyone to take what they like so at least when we see a sportsmen competing we know that they all have the same opportunity. Whole thing makes my blood boil.
  • I dont post very much, but I can tell you know, that the majority of olympic athletes are on drugs, its just the way it is, and to be honest, it makes it more exiting. Without the doping in sports, the achievements would not nearly be as good, people would not run under 10 seconds consistently in the 100 metres, its just the truth. I accept that these athletes are extremely gifted at what they do, but realistically, is usain bolt really going to be able to run that much faster than other athletes who are known to have taken ped? The people who engineer the drugs are a step in front of the testers, and it would cost more money than the sport generated to reverse this, just saying

    Astonishing. Sport is dead.

Heavy set people could have fast or slow twitch muscle fibres, until they're in a fit enough state to actually train you'll rarely get the chance to know.

I first discovered my fast twitch muscles were in my arse. Millwall away, 1976.
  • When I was a school kid, I am sure I had fast twitch muscles that caused spontaneous localised rigor mortis.

Sadly this is probably close to the truth.

is that a posh way of saying you always had a hard on ? .. many schoolboys have had and still do have the same 'problem'
  • If Bolt were ever to fail a drug test it would be hard to take any sprinter seriously again.
  • Just imagine how fast Bolt could go if he took drugs. (Which of course he doesn't and I have no evidence at all what so ever that he ever has.)

Gay and Powell are no where near his level despite taking steroids.
  • same as cycling the athletes are cheats until proven otherwise its a tainted sport wont ever change or end

  • They won't catch Bolt, he's just too f*cking fast

Exactly - sadly I feel if Froome (and Wiggins) weren't British they would be questioned by our press as to if they are "cheating" much like the French and other media have been.

Both Froome and Wiggins have had a lot of questions thrown their way over their performances - mainly by the non-British press. Remember Wiggins's expletive strewn press conference last year after one Tour de France stage win? And yesterday Dave Brailsford offered to release to WADA all Froome's data. It might not the British press that is chucking the accusations about but they are being made.

Where do you draw the line then? If Chambers, who has admitted his mistake & seemingly regrets it & wants to run clean, why can't he?

Why do batsmen who don't walk, fielders who know they haven't caught it cleanly, footballers that dive or appeal for corners that aren't theirs, or any sportsman that seeks to gain an unfair advantage, not all tarred as cheats & banned?
  • Unsporting behavior and cheating are different things

Leaving aside the health & other issues, it would not create a level playing field. People react differently to drugs, some would gain more of an advantage than others from taking the same drugs. Further some new drugs would not be available to all athletes.
  • Unsporting behavior and cheating are different things

Diving to win a penalty is cheating. Claiming a catch that wasn't clean is cheating.

Nicking a few yards at a throw in or appealing for a ball that was going down leg side is more unsporting behaviour.
  • I think we are fast reaching the point in some sports that we are now watching a best pharmacist rather than best competitor contest.

I'm just going to go with the Laws of the Game definition, unsporting behavior yellow card offences for diving and nicking yards rather than your interpretation

You draw the line when it comes to taking performance enhancing drugs.

Surely you're not saying anything up to that point is acceptable? I'd find it more repugnant if my team lost due to a player diving to win a penalty than finding out an opposition player was physically stronger due to steroids.

Would you find it repugnant if your team won in the same way?

At least with players that cheat by eg diving they are doing it very much with the chance of being found out instantly. Drug cheats go to extraordinary lengths to hide their vile cheating. They are so stupid to even realise that they are cheating themselves as well as everyone else. Drugs and sport in the same sentence dreadful. If I had my way anyone found guilty of taking performance enhancing drugs would be banned from all organised sport for life.

Not saying it's acceptable up to that point, but you asked where do you draw the line, for me that's where you draw the line. If you take drugs to enhance your performance I think you don't get another chance.
  • Drug cheats can not be compared to anything else in sport

Yes. I cannot stand players who dive & cheat and I'd be embarrassed if we won that way.

Unless of course it was the winner against West Ham, in which case I wouldn't care....

  • Unless of course it was the winner against West Ham, in which case I wouldn't care....

    What about Palace/Millwall...
  • One point of order ( and it may have already been pointed out ? I can't be arsed to look ) ....Isle of Wight = less than 150 sq miles, Jamaica = over 4,200 sq miles ....a tad different.
  • Jamaica 10,991 km2, Isle of white 384 km.

    SLL is Millwall super horns.
