Orient post-match thoughts

  • It looked close to capacity from where I was sitting, unsure of the capacity tho
  • [cite]Posted By: Telnotinoz[/cite]I wonder if the board over there are related to the Glicksteins?

Glickstens owned Orient before they bought Charlton so may be thats the connection....:o)
  • There were 4 seats reserved for the St. John's Ambulance folk which we helped the stewards to keep vacant as they themselves were so busy. When the last minute rush came in the stewards couldn't find seats for everyone and decided they would have to use the reserved seats. Can't see them doing that if there had been other seats available.
  • REF HAD A SHOCKER!!!!!

Thought the team played very well, shelvey did exceptional until he got stupidly booked(ref stupidity that is). he was quite for bit then after half time picked up his game again, defo think prob his best game yet for us and nice goal aswell. Youga we need to get rid of, his defensive play and position is shocking, last night wasnt his worse game but still would rather have basey even with his lack of pace. apart from the obv, defensively we look solid but seem a bit vulnerable at set pieces. this may be due to lack of playing with each other and hopefully will improve....well must!

Midfield very strong, everyone works hard. racon is certainly our most quality player, semedo doing the donkey work, bailey didnt really have a great game but we know what he can do and sam is a bit jekyl and hyde- great play but no end product, but always has been. Burton up top works hard wins alot of headers is good on the ball and definatley makes other defenders a bit scared, sort of lol

    MOM- Shelvey
  • Thought we did not play well at all & Orient got in our faces, but they like most teams in this division will only be able to keep that up for about 60 minutes, eventually you run out of steam & that is what happened with them last night. We finally took control after Jonjo scored & deserved it in the end. Made Hardwork of the result though but the result is all that counts, Arsenal we ain't let's just get the results. Our relegated colleagues have yet to win a game between them in six so for us to win all three you have to be pleased with that.
  • You beauties.
  • Sat in the stand opposite the Charlton fans. The comments by O`s supporters around me were that they thought Charlton were powerful, fast and quite dirty. Interesting to hear another perspective of our little darlings !
  • it was interesting to see when Orient scored, just how many people didn't celebrate

Interesting. We've been lightweight and rolled over for far too long. And the great thing is, we can play a bit too.

  • Was the whole of that stand Charlton?
  • It was indeed. That empty bit in the middle filled up a bit as well.
  • Impressive.
  • Great pic, Curb It - nice work!
  • Was it just me that thought Orient had a really quirky ground? Saying that I thought it had a charm to it and I can't help but wish I could have one of those flats in the corners with a balcony overlooking the Valley!

I know he is rapidly becoming a god, but lets not gloss over his indiscretions while he is learning. If a player had made the lunge that he did early on against one of our players we would justifiably expected a yellow and there was enough studs showing for a red, he then charged around and jumped into their player not playing the ball. We were fortunate that the referee was lenient with him. My overall 1st half impression was Jonjo was over compensating for two poor performances so far this season, at half time he was calmed down and played a blinder.
  • Just watched the goals back on CAFCTV...

    Quality from Shelvey..

    Absolute Quality....

and Burton.. wise head... let the defender screw it up and another classy finish.... and a great celebration....

Ive got a feeling these players all love each other...
  • I just keep watching the video back....

The spirit in there is amazing.... Lera looks good and them all celebrating.....

If we can just get a result against Wallsall... (a win and i think i will transcend into the next dimension) and we are looking like a proper unit...

Just reading Dailly's views hes sounds quality....

    COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!
  • Ive just watched the highlights myself......I have to say that from where I was seated, both the goals looked a bit scrappy....but having now seen them from the opposite side of the ground, absolute class from young Mr Shelvey...who I just knew would score....he was a pick on the ADU superleague, and Deon once again the wise old head in a tight situation. The celebrations at the end of the game by the players and staff were quite amazing......bring on Saturday.
  • i couldn't see just how good shelvey's finish was either until i watched it back. He was a little further out and under more pressure than i thought.

Rob Elliot said "At half-time, the gaffer said 'look, I love your attitude, but you just need to calm down and play football. If we get the ball down and play, you can win the aerial battles.'"

Parky was spot on and that's exactly what they did and then our quality came through. Seeing a group of players that cared and seemed pumped up by the fans was brilliant though.

It's so good to see a squad with some unity as well. (wonder if southampton will have that this year....?)

  • just watched it on cafctv, great goals, both well taken.
  • What a weird stadium. Geezer stood on his balcony, drinking stella and smoking a fag... Wasnt using it but there was also a bbq on the balcony. Does watching football get any more perfect?!
  • Highlights made me smile we now have a TEAM and not just a SQUAD
