Hope that's enough to keep him here for the forseeable. What do you reckon unc?
  • Well if we romp the league... get a cash injection of say 50 million....

Have curbs in as director of football, so he doesnt upset any one....

and then stroll into the europa league via the champions league...

    I reckon he'll stay...

    (Am I still alseep)

As Uncle says, if the team are playing well, winning matches, showing good team spirit and enjoying their football - then the manager is doing his job.
  • with regards to original question, I agree with most of the replies on here, like cafc-se7.

I am optimistic about the job that the current manager is doing and as such I want him to carry on and would not want a director of football brought in to undermine him.

Well based on this it's keep Parky for me. :-)
  • It all feels like we're getting our old Charlton back.

    Well done Parky !

Brixton or Paris? Where do you want to go?
Seeing as I don't currently have a passport, Brixton will do for me. Similarly, given our current circumstances, I'm happy enough with Parky.

  • Curbs could do a Harry from Portsmouth to Tottenham and leave for more money but still Parky as he deserves his chance atm
  • yep we should be grateful parky is our manager cos he could have left !!
i mean in my wildest dreams/nightmares(since curbs left) i could never have thought that i would be so happy after beating wycombe and hartlepool , so for that small mercy , thank you ever so much PP keep up the great work
  • "It's just a question which needs asking, Curbs is a club legend, agreed, Parky isn't.........................................................YET!!!"

No it isn't, he's won 2 games FFS!!

There's no comparrision to be made. If on the strength of 2 games people would rather stick with Parky than get someone with a proven track record at all levels of the game then fair enough. If it was me, I'd welcome Curbishley back with open arms.
  • Wish I had your vivid and lively imagination mascot -- LOL

But to answer your question...if Parky was doing well when the Takeover happened, then IMHO the decent thing would be to let him remain as manager – But with the way football is now run, when has DECENCY or morality ever been taken into consideration. So who knows?
  • So same question.... interesting curbs was there as well.......

Imagine the takover happened 10 mins ago and have money and a willing curbishley waiting in the wings....

Would you want to fire parky and bring curbs back ...

    Or keep Parky...

Im still in the parky stay camp... im starting to really like him...
  • So what about now??

    Im still behind Parky...
  • Would have to be Curbs for me , although im starting to warm parky. It would be a lot easier to answer this question after 20 games , 4 league wins on the trot is a fantastic start BUT as the saying goes.....Its a long old season.
  • what a stupid question curbs all day long but i think he might being going upstairs if takeover happens director of football or whatever they call it nowadays after being overlooked for the england job and other numerous jobs i reckon he may be up for a different challenge .
  • Curbs then. Parky now.
  • If this was a month ago I'd say get Curbs back.

With only a week to go of the transfer window and us looking like a settled side I'd say keep Parky now. Although Parky has had his hands tied in the transfer market, this is still his squad as the one's he doesn't want have been released and the one's he wants have stayed. Who's to say Curbs would want to keep the same players? If he didn't it would mean yet more upheavel and that would be damaging imo.

The ships just started to level out on an even keel - lets not start rocking itn just for the sake of it.

Talkeover completed asap, 3 or 4 signings to deepen the squad in defence and attack (and left wing) and give Parky full backing - that should see us through to a good season imo.

Don't mind the idea of Curbs coming into the backroom to help act as a buffer between the board and the playing staff though. In fact he'd be well suited to that kind of role imo, as long as final say on playing decisions was left to Parky - he has a good eye for a player and always had a good understanding of working within a budget. P'raps if he'd been around in that role during Pards reign, the board wouldn't have been suckered into some of the silly deals that got signed.

  • Hard one.

Parky deserves chance as he has won this league with Colchester before however Curbs well there is no replacement for Curbs the messiah.
  • I would have fired Parky after his 8-match spell as a caretaker.
I certainly would have fired him after the conclusion of last season. In either case, the grounds were easily justified by the record.

I would have replaced him during preseason, had the takeover gone through and the money was available.

But he is still in the job, and I wish him well.

I still have some serious doubts, but am pleased by the start. How much of it is due to Parky, and how much is down to the poor competition in the third division, is still very much in question.

If Parky gets us promotion, then he should be allowed to carry on, even with his previous failures at The Championship level. He would have earned it then.
But no promotion, and I will be firmly back in the "replace him" camp.
  • Oh fudge off! Too early still to answer!
  • I love Curbs to bits and would love him to come back - but not at the expense of Parky. I said at the end of last season that I could see lots of positives in what Parky was trying to do - now (yes, eventually) we are seeing that in results as well.

It would be disastrous to change that now - even for Curbs - just when some confidence and, remarkably, stability is returning to the playing side of the club at least.

To do what Parky has done, given the financial meltdown and rife takeover speculation all summer, is nothing short of remarkable. Imagine coping with that in your job! Appreciate it is still early days, but we are already genuine promotion contenders this season and could go from strength to strength.

And I'm certainly not going to argue with uncle on this matter.
  • A couple of seasons ago Curbs' name was being bandied about as a possible England manager. As great as my affections for the man are I don't think that dropping down to the 3rd tier are going to help him if it is his ambition to manage England one day. I suspect he is destined for a Premiership team when the first heads start to roll and he has sorted out his spat with West Ham.

Agreed. Birmingham will sack McLeish if they start struggling. I expect Curbs to end up there.

not a bad call ex player and always had a soft spot for them....

I remeber some obscure interview him saying how they deserve to be in the Prem.. etc....

    Birmingham travelling okish so far...
  • Parkinson has been impeccable these last few months, what with fans wanting him out and conditions created by the boardroom that i doubt Curbs ever experienced.Stick with him i say.

    Right, Carly ...... good point.

Curbs always appeared to have 100% backing from the Board, worked interactively with them ........and always had total job security.

What a contrast to poor old beleaguered Parky ...... no resources, no tangible support from Board or fans - just a man putting his finger into the dyke until the club gets it's act together.

And despite all that and no money, not even knowing whether he's still got a job, he's put together a winning side with the best of what's left and crumbs from other club's tables.
  • i think if you draw 3 games lose 7 in your 'caretaker' period as manager when the club was in desperate need of a boost and you were part of the mismanagement that got charlton into this mess and you were given the job for whatever time it was i'd consider that backing from the boardroom
