  • Just saw that. Always knew he'd get some Prem interest. At best he'll keep floating between lower Prem teams as a squad player and Championship sides. At worst he'll end up even lower in a few years.
  • If he'd got his finger out, could have gone back to Arsenal and played for England.

Nobody will know how good he could have been.

But will know he just couldn't be arsed.

Hold on now. I know his laziness was the main problem, but he had nowhere near enough ability to be an England regular.

Ashley Young just about makes the England squad and Milner is by no means a certainty, so how on earth was Jerome Thomas going to get there?
  • No, but he could have had a few caps like a lot of players have. I've said the same thing before. Not many English players have both pace and skill.

If he had a good attitude he would have improved his game. Look at Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, they seem to be wingers that really wanted to play at the highest level and play for England.
  • Other than his obvious attitude problem the fact that he prefers playing on the left as a predominantly right footed player will prevent him reaching the very top.

Sad waste of talent. He has the ability to win free kicks, is strong (in winger terms) on the ball, able to beat players for fun and fairly quick.

He should be a regular in a top 8 Prem side with his talent.
  • He had pace and tricks, but he wasn't skilled at scoring or crossing consistently enough.
  • If he really wanted to he would have developed those parts of his game though.
  • Lessor players have played for England than JT, I don't think he'd have been a regular but with some aplication he could have had a few caps playing on the left-wing. Given the lack of competition for that position anyone with a bit of skill could have picked up a few caps.
  • Thomas nowhere near good enough to be an international - that's for sure.

Agree with those above that he's a decent Premiership player at his best and a Championship one if he can't be arsed.

Of course, but he potentially could have been. Now he will never be any where near the squad.

He's a good example of a player with natural talent that never had the attitude to develop it and improve as a player. If Matt Holland had Jerome's attitude he'd have played a lot further down, he's a player that made the most of his talent and pushed himself to his limit.

This would be the definition of desperation for both parties.
  • Its not looking good for Hull, looking at Jerome Thomas and Bobby Zamora ? Could be a hard season.

I think they may well go down along with Portsmouth.
  • I saw thomas out drinking in Pitcher and Piano on upper street on Saturday, he was with another bloke and two birds, i stupidly mentioned it to my mate who had had a few and said "youve got to talk to him" and i said no hes with a bird and hes a tosser anyway, so my mate went to do it anyway, and patted the other bloke on the shoulder and said "alright jerome, my mates a massive charlton fan!". twat. then the bloke pointed him in the direction of the real jerome, who looked completely disinterested (like i was in meeting him to be fair, lazy c*nt), so my mate shouted at him "shake his hand then!" which he begrudgingly did, then i turned round and walked away.

t*sser - and spending saturday nights out boozing during pre-season is exactly the way i would expect somebody like him to be trying to find a new club
  • missed a trick there fella. You should have phoned a tabloid and told em a Prem footie player is in a b it of bother, get them to wedge you in a few quid and let em know what boozer he is in. Then seconds before Fleet St finest turn up twat Thomas on the nose -------------------everyones a winner.

    UNEMPLOYED BLOKE IN PUB: EXCLUSIVE
  • Signed a 2-year deal with West Brom
  • Thomas actually terrorised West Brow in the league game up there the year they were promoted, perhaps they think he plays like that every week. Then again...

  • Anyone just seen Thomas.Looks a different player.Lost his beer gut and skinning defenders left ,right and centre.Scored too.

Pi55e5 me off if i'm honest.
  • Yeah. Problem is what happens when he decides he's Billy Bigbollocks again, and goes out clubbing seven nights a week.
  • There was never any doub that the fella had talent. Unfortunately it's his application and attitude that is questionable.
  • He was running at players in a much more direct way than he did for us. Or did they just cut out any highlights of him next to the touchline messing around with the ball?
  • Looks like he's slimmed down too?

Is it possible he's realised he's in last chance saloon?

Maybe he has, at last! But then when it gets to november/december and they are playing plymouth away will he still perform so well or go missing till april then turn in a couple of decent games and get a new deal.

More great wisdom from Claridge though on football league show when talking about how unimpressed he was when watching Thomas at Pompey, how many times did jerome even play for them?
  • Just been sent off for having 2 goes at Wilshere.

What a way to return to Arsenal. Idiot.

Can't read too much into one performance, Thomas had games like that for us (West Ham at home & West Brom away for example) trouble was there were long spells of endless stepovers in between. There's always been plenty of talent there for someone to harness though - perhaps he's now at an age where he's willing to knuckle down a bit more and with a manager able to keep him disciplined - time will tell I guess.
  • he just needed to get into the box a bit more before shooting and causing damage
  • Can't believe he got sent off for something so stupid, thought he would really try and prove a point to Wenger that he is a good player and maybe could have made more of an impression there or in the topflight.
also he should pick on someone his own size, Wilshire still has a bedtime!
