Wasn't that the case last time though?

Hardly his fault though was it, the whole of the football world bought into the story
  • Piss up in a brewery springs to mind, the sooner the better for me now.The whole thing is so poorly done it stinks of bad management,an utter shambles IMHO.
  • Oh well, lets see what happens in the next few days, see u at welling ladies and gents :)
  • Just sit tight people, its part of the process,
  • its been quite a year for the addicks, someone should write a book, BARTS?
  • [cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]So something is pretty close to happening.

    Murray has basically confirmed that.

That is certainly the inference that I take from it but I'm sure our legal friends would say that nothing was confirmed or denied ; - )

With WIIALB. If there is a NDA around a takeover then no one talks about it. Quite different with a Publicly Listed company which has to announce any takeover but we're not one of those.

At first glance it is terrible PR and adds more fuel to the fire as people have said. I really hope that in two days/weeks/months we can say "that was the reason why"

    Bugger:

I didn't say it was his fault.

I have the utmost respect, gratitude and admiration for Mr Murray. As Queensland said elsewhere 75% of us disagreed with Dowie but 75% of us would have appointed Pardew.

Not so sure about the other bloke but that is another issue.

[cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]Go onto FT.com and pick a story about a company involved in an acquisition. What you'll almost definitely notice in there is that there is (public) communication with their shareholders, the market, customers (in some cases) and the press. I'm not sure of the ins and outs of it, but are we now saying that all of these organisations failing to comply with company law? Implying that this is the reason for the cancellation is frustrating: if they're saying that they're in the latter stages of takeover talks then they should say that and not just imply something that is not true; at a time when your customer base is feeling confused and unhappy.

Are you saying that the lawyers advising RM/The Board don't know what they are doing? Come on. lets be adult about this, I do not believe they cancelled this out of convenience or avoidence of the issues, they are perfectly capable of dodging the questions if they need to. No the lawyers have made it clear that it would be folly for them to meet in a public forum at this stage in developments.

    With you on this Bing.

May even have not been the CAFC lawyers. May have been the other parties lawyers who called it.

Maybe TelinOz can tell us more but would understand if he said "no comment".
  • I still havent got an email regarding confirmation of my place.

Likewise. Now we know why - perhaps.

They were in fact being efficient after all. :-)

How does that actually work? The club has a PLC chairman and a football club chairman, but we aren't a PLC?

I would have thought it the other party involved is a public company (and the deal is not done), any information RM might have divulged could have had ramifications on their share price, as such the lawyers would have advised to cancel.

As someone mentioned earlier I had a funny thought it might be Zabeel again.
  • Can't see what purpose the meeting would have served as in a few days they will probably no longer be in charge of the club.

What's the point of picking over what Chappell meant last December about Parkinson being judged by results when hopefully both will be gone by the start of the new season?

Looks like it's finally time to move on into a new Charlton era. A suitable requiem for the passing regime? Well it has to be Dickens and A Tale Of Two Athletics:

''It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way.''

Fortunately there were more of the good times than the bad times under Richard Murray and despite the blunders and tomfoolery of the post-Curbishley years we should always remember that...

It's dragged on a while but if, as rumoured, directors are writing off huge amounts then that may explain the delays. Let's judge on the outcome as to whether it's a shambles or not. If it, at least, means we hold on to the likes of Racon & Shelvey for a while longer then that's got to be good
  • Probably Daft I know, but I just e-mailed Gill @ The Club to thank her for all her efforts anyway.

Not daft at all. I'll do the same now you've given me the idea. Not her fault it was postponed.

PS and I copied her boss, stephen.kavanagh@cafc.co.uk, in as well. Might help come appraisal time.

I doubt to the same extent, as we would have stated what our liabilities were in the event of relegation. Perhaps they have been doing it over the last couple of week.

I very much doubt it is them, just nice to think of all that money!

fug me, she only opened an email, ticked a name off a list and sent a reply (in some cases). Hardly running the gauntlet of a thousand zulu warriors !
  • Does the fact murray mentions that there will be more signings to come suggest his confidence in a takeover taking place?

Sorry, but I was taught "please" & "Thank You" is polite.

Only an email not a Victoria Cross.

I think it will help a lot, but I think we'd be signing a few players anyway.

Hopefully it'll mean we can get slightly better or just secure our main targets we thought we couldn't get.

Anyway either way that's also good to hear.

So saying "I'd thank you to please F*** off" is OK then : -)
  • Victoria Cross? I suppose she couldn't get a ticket...

sorry. I'll log-off now and go back to the cricket season !
  • this is all just a publicity stunt to improve the gate at Welling..
  • Lets just pray this goes through i dont think i could deal with the upset i faced when zabeel pulled out, could give the club a massive lift, which we all deserve!
