The proof of the pudding is in the eating ...... or drinking, on this case.
Give it a chance, new people, new ideas, new energy.

It's not fair to compare it now with the disheartened, disinterested bunch that ran down the place before.

Agree and every reason to be optimistic....I was only being flipant...as is my wont on occassion!
  • I drove past the H&G not an hour ago and noticed all the corregated curtains are down as well. Not sure if there's a connection.

A new wine church of god i would presume
  • Yes the House of Gloom is currently being renovated before opening as Charlton's first African Church. Parking on Sunday's looks like being worse than matchdays!

I don't think you have to obey any parking restrictions if you are heading to a church. Atleast that is the impression you get if you drive past the New Wine place on a Sunday, red route my arse.
  • Clem - I am far too sensitive to draw such a conclusion, but I agree wholeheartedly with your view of Christian parkers - Dave.

  • Maybe a trip down pre and post tuesdays meeting would be an idea
  • Good idea Buckshee, although the Con Club have been good enough to lend us the room and support the meeting, so we should give them our beer money.
  • will be giving the oak a swerve and heading straight to the Anchor after the game to celebrate the start of the new season. And who knows we might be celebrating more than just the start of the season!
  • Something you wanna tell us B? :-)
  • Trouble is, if you don't use it, you lose it.

Not specifically talking about tomorrow with the Trust meeting, but the Oak does need people to go along for a beer.
Or next time you walk past, it really will be boarded up or bulldozed for flats
  • I was in the Oak this afternoon. Three tellys now with two seperate Sky boxes. All the beers on and snacks! Plastic plants and fresh flowers. Accommodating new landlady who says she's there for the longhaul.

Give it some Sin, Cardinal !
  • Sounds really good

Think a group of us are gonna go to the standard for a pub breakfast and a couple on saturday then head down for one or two in the oak

Do you mean that it has been open for one day and you haven't been in there? Strange .........
  • I thought it'd been open for a week, so my mistake. As you'll probably know, I don't live locally these days. ;o)

I'll ask the question again on Monday. P'raps.

    I know its odd.
  • Pub seems OK, just got back from a quick reccy. Like the idea of the 3 teles and two different sky boxes (AKA Rose of Denmark). Managers seeem to be making an effort. Even tropical plants.
Beer up 15p a pint, therefore only had eight.
  • so how many of you that converted to the lib will now go back to the oak?
  • Not me
  • I've stayed loyal to the Oak ever since I was disloyal to Clancys, Horse & Groom, Pickwick, rose of Denmark, Anchor & Hope............

Dont see the point. The lib suits me for a few pre-match bevvies. I dare say it'll be the Oak for after the game though...
