[cite]Posted By: Brunello[/cite]I'm basing it on seeing him play for the first team, reserves and youth team. I dont believe he will make the grade. Only an opinion.
I respect you opinion BUT which grade are we talking about? If we are talking making a PL player then I'd agree but if we are talking making initially a League 1 player and then possibly a Championship player I'd disagree until the cows come home. He played two games for us, looked comfortable and not out of his depth. In the League we find ourselves in we are not going to have players of the like or Reid, Jensen maybe even Racon and Shelvey and we need to get used to it fast.
Did you not see him at Norwich away in the cup. He looked very out of his depth in my opinion.

He's only 17/18 but seems to have acquited himself pretty well on loan at Gillingham and from League Two to League One with Millwall (or Charlton) isn't such a great step up. Sure he has a long way to go but for Millwall he'd be a great signing - cheap, and could blossom into a decent player in a year or two, plus they'd be reaping the benefit of the investment that Charlton have made in him.
Brunello - most of our squad looked out of it's depth until the end of March, so i think it's harsh to say that about Wright after a bad game.
I fully believe he will be a decent player at league one level and more importantly he's going on a free and it will cost us money to replace him.

Thats great and I hope for his sake you are right. But I'll stick by my guns and revisit in a year.
He's not good enough for us at the moment, but then we still have Bailey, ZZ, Shelvey and Racon as CMs. If they all go he'd be a lot closer to the first team. Not much between him, Spring, Holland and even Sinclair at the moment as fifth choice after those four. Certainly played no worse than Spring or Holland in the couple of league games he played.
He's proven himself at League Two level and he will at least be a League One player later on his career and could potentially play higher than that. A lot of that's down to him though, he will have to improve and develop but that's not impossible.
how can parky speak to him,and decide whether to let him go when he has cleared his desk a couple of weeks ago.So either RM & DC ARE deciding who They want to keep or there is a new man in situ who is making the decisions who we have yet to be notified of.
Or the SLP or whatever trashy paper just read one of the posters on here stating Millwall and Josh Wright and then 30 min later wrote an article?!
I thought Josh wright was ok but at the mo he's behind; Shelvey Bailey Racon Semedo Holland (if stays) Spring, thats 6 ppl in front of him for 2 spots we cant have a squad that big end of.
After the shenanigans at Sheffield last year if Parky is the one having the discussions I'd gess that Josh and quite a large number of other players will not want to stay with us.

Bailey will go, Shelvey won't be here long and racon could well go to. With Holland possibly going too that leaves us with Semedo who's been out half a season injured and Spring who is rubbish.
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Probably completely wrong, but i would not be suprised that the decision not to keep Josh was more based on attitude than potential.
so Josh Wright has a bad attitude, Moo2 has a bad attitude, Dickson has a bad attitude. Could I suggest that is down to the Managements own attitude towards the players and the way they have treated them and handled them. You have to earn respect but it works both ways. If Wright leaves it will be because of the way Parky has treated him more than anything else.
I've been told by someone who knows Basey that,Brentford and Gills have expressed interest, and he would be interested if Parky stays as he doesn't get on with him.

Basey was on loan at Brentford remember, and played his first 10 league matches for them.
[cite]Posted By: Carter[/cite]If Basey goes we are shooting ourselves massively in the feet. The player is the only guy at the club who can hit a dead ball
hear, hear. Funny too that a few people see players like Basey, Wright as not good enough for League 1. I tend to disagree.

Well that's true apart from Jonjo, though it's not a good enough reason to play him regularly.

Basey would do a decent job but we could sign better. Would struggle against players with a lot of pace.
Wright again would do ok and I think he'd develop well if we played him regularly.
I agree with you their exiled. Basey really needs to move himself inside to central midfield, and if he doesn't work there then he is a third tier player at best as a lb. Shelvey is just as good as him with delivery.
For pretty much every youngster coming through the ranks for quite a few seasons, apart from Shelvey, you just feel they aren't able to even hold their own in their positions. I would like Josh Wright to stay, but even so compared to Nicholls and Parker he does not look like he could hold his own in a mildly competive match. Even when Parker looked physically like a schoolboy he did not appear intimidated or swamped. Going so far back as to Paul Sturgess and then Paul Konchesky, these players came in against very tough English footballers and did not struggle with the physical nature.
Josh Wright seems to be one of the only ones that may grow into a competitive player but at the moment he will sit back and attempt to pull strings while others meet the physical threat; in his first few matches for Gillingham he got swamped by the physical threat when Adam Miller was struglling. Looking at our whole team even at this level, I don't think Wright can support other players and he'd still be a squad player. Albeit one I'd like to keep.

He can now fall outta 'Faces' with his hopeless mates as much has likes . . .

He might well take the chance of regular football. Although he's probably played the most, he's far from one of our best prospects.

Again, he'll do well to do that at Charlton though, given the competition for midfield places, so wouldn't be surprised if he leaves.

Played 90 mins for Scunthorpe yesterday at QPR.
