[cite]Posted By: Valley McMoist[/cite]IF, this is true, all I can think is that there is going to be a new manager and he wants his own backroom team.
Just what is going on at our club????
or, with Kinsella out of contract, Parky has taken the opportunity to get someone in that he wants, that shares his football philosophy, that is on his wavelength, that shares his beliefs. I always thought there was a place in football for Jimmy Crankie.
[cite]Posted By: dabos[/cite]It's difficult to assess his contribution to our demise.
Perhaps it's an ancient reference to his transfer to Aston Villa?
I don't think Mark Kinsella should be offered any blame for our demise whatsoever, he showed the same passion and zeal as an assistant manager as he did when he was the great player he was, and appeared more moved by our plight than the statue Parkinson and all the players, he should have been thoroughly and utterly respected by the sorry shower of shite that represented us last season and if they had shown one iota of Kin's class then we wouldn't be in the sorry situation we are in now- not to mention that he was one of the finest captains in the club's history.
I hope it was an ancient reference to the Villa transfer!
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]oh, that'll be good of them. Looking forward to a blitz of information around the 6th of August !!
We'll least you can still moan or have a pop at the board without any real knowledge.
I know we are impatient and i know they (the board) have made mistakes, but they will still be doing what they feel is right. I don't think for 1 second they want anything that could be possibly happening to be dragging out this long!!
Mark Kinsella = Equals playing legend for Charlton
Mark Kinsella with Phil Parkinson = Relegated
sorry folks i love his comitment i love his passion but i am hoping this is the start of the new broom sweeps clean structure at the Valley 2009/2010 i stick with my thoughts that kins was put there to keep us quiet shrewd move because invariably we never kicked off

I don't think Mark Kinsella should be offered any blame for our demise whatsoever, he shouted and screamed from the touchline with the same passion and zeal he displayed as the classy player he was, and appeared more moved than the statue Parkinson and all the players, he should have been thoroughly and utterly respected by the sorry shower of shite that represented us last season and if they had shown one iota of Kin's class then we wouldn't be in the sorry situation we are in now- not to mention that he was one of the finest captains in the club's history.

Showing passion by shouting from the touchline doesn't really mean that you can remove responsibility on his part. I'm not saying he is to blame, but I don't think doing some shouting makes you a good manager/assistant.
I do however agree that as a player he is one of the all-time Charlton greats. One of Curbishley's best ever signings, if not the best.
I would not be to sad to see him go, I want him to go off and manage a league 2 team or conference team and come back to manage us in a few years with the required experience behind him.

spot on sometimes we all need to remove the blinkers where certain ex players are concerend no matter how hard it is

At the end of the day, you have to take emotion out of it, I love Kinsella (in a platonic way), but if the club, Parkinson or any potential new management believe they need someone else, then fair enough, as it long as it betters CAFC in the long term, I will have no arguments.
This of course is if its true, if so, farewell Mark, Charlton legend.

I edited my post regarding the shouting and screaming point straight after my initial posting because as you rightly point out that does not make a great assistant, I refer anyone to my edited post for a more considered (ish) take on things.
I am not sure how much of the can an assistant manager should carry generally tbh. I didn't hold Parkinson responsible for the lions share of Pardew's excesses and how much was Les Reed at fault for Dowie's desecrations? I think that Kinsella was elevated quicker than would have been the norm into a difficult situation where it was always going to be hard to see how much he could really make an impact. In short I don't feel real judgement can be made on him in these circumstances.
[cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]What r&c said.
Also Parkinson probably wants to bring in some of his own 'people', almost all managers do. Eg. he may be thinking of Murty.
So the assistant sacks the assistant ! Curiouser and Curiouser ?
