I've had a go back saying easy having a go at Scarfers and kids and he reckons it was a majority of boys on the coach. So funny.

My own experiences tell me that people who brag about it on message boards etc, dont get involved, and if he says that "our firm" was on the coaches, he clearly is a plumb who knows nothing at all.
Southampton are very good at picking on scarfers and supporter club coaches, but each time they have come up against real opposition at Charlton they have been hammered, not trying to condone any of it, but just ignore the wannabe keyboard warriors.
  • Unfortunately, we've got idiots who went to So'ton JUST for the trouble..........

There were certainly our idiots there are well and they were delighted with all the attention they were getting outside the ground and how well they were winding up the saints fans.

    As I say idiots.

    My points exactly Mr DA9

Ledge, do me a favour and tell him that one of those was Henry Jnr. So well done Euroboss you scared a 10 year old. You must be so proud. How hard you are to have taken on a coach from the safety of the street outside when the police are a few yards away. And when the police came and pushed them away they all dutifully went.

There were no "boys" on the coach unless he means real boys ie 10 years of age but to pathetic arsewipes like him that will still count as a victory to boast about.

Already have Henners - watiing for the mouthpiece to reply.

Cheers, yes know what you mean but that's OK. You didn't start the fire.

He's fine and he'll be at Derby.
  • Good to hear the Charlton fans singing "Follow Follow" in the bar at half time!!

  • I meant generally around anti-social behaviour at football but I'll give my solicitor a call to see if we can sue you for compensation. Distress and mental anguish should be worth £500k or a pint when I next see you ; - )

If this is what "proper" football as opposed to the "plastic" Prem is going to be like next season then my season ticket renewal decision will be easy to make.

At my age I do not want to feel threatened and intimidated nor do I want to be treated like a common criminal when I am a hardworking law abiding person.

Parry and Townsend on Talksport were suggesting that decent people should be forced to surrender their coins because of the moronic minority who throw coins at the referee etc.

Sorry I want no part of that. It was bad enough being searched last season whilst "lads" were allowed in unchallenged.

It looks like I will be finding something else to do on Saturdays.

To be fair Len, Parry and Townsend talk utter b****cks for a living so any suggestions coming out of that pair are likely to be complete tosh and not worthy of mention.

As for feeling intimidated or threatened, I think only once, in the war at the Valley with Chelsea have I ever felt threatened at home and I certainly havent since our return, otherwise I wouldn't have brought my three young children from the age of 4/5, without any fear of problems. So season ticket renewal would not be an issue at the Valley IMHO.

Away from home is a little different of course, but even in the plastic prem, matches at Spurs, Chelsea and Bolton have had there moments and being herded like criminals is common place, whatever league your in, especially if you travel by official means.

I agree I haven't felt intimidated at The Valley and all three of my daughters and my wife have attended matches with me at some time or other. The youngest daughter is also a season ticket holder like me.

However with the real possibility of Millwall, Southampton and Leeds visiting next season with thuggish reputations that could well be 3 matches I would have to consider not attending or at least attending on my own if I do go.
  • I think all of those three you mention will be high profile for police presence at the Valley and our segregation is usually pretty good. But I take your point Len and it's a matter for your own judgement.

Mind you, I think if I tried to stop any of mine going I'd have a bigger problem on my hands then anything that lot could throw at me. :-)

Can understand the feelings Len, but come on, us oldiers are meant to have the Dunkirk spirit an' all that. Be damned if a few scumbags are going to part me from my football.

Dunkirk spirit is fine when the authorities are on "your" side. In today's society I could be the one getting punished for the "crime" of defending my family from those gutless scumbags.

If I don't put myself in the situation then it won't happen.
  • Come on people what's this all about? There is rarely any trouble at the Valley - it is one of the safest grounds in the country. If there is trouble, it doesnt take too much to work out where it will be..........one of the pubs near the station (maybe Lib Club) before the game, and top of Floyd Road and around the station after the game.

Agreed that you sometimes need to have your wits about you away from home, and of course Millwall at home is one where people can use the term "Dunkirk Spirit".

I just hide behind you when I'm scared!!
  • Sorry to hear you say that, Len.

I would imagine when any of the teams you mentioned do grace SE7 the Met will be out in force and will jump straight on any trouble that may occur.

As stated before, most of those who large about this kind of thing are pathetic kiddies who only do so when in a large group and wouldn't think twice about attacking the easiest and most non-threatening targets they can find. At least this kind of thing is a bit rarer these days.

  • I take my lad to most away games, although Leeds and Millwall (depending on the seasons outcome) might make me think twice. I think when taking kids you have to have your wits about you. On Saturday I sensed something might kick off - previous between us and them, the passion created by Sotons plight, the home defeat, and as we left the ground, I got my lad to zip up his jacket and I did the same. I'm no coward but I'm also no mug and I've come close in years gone by to copping a bottle in my head and a brick around the lugholes so just that little extra precaution was needed.

There were groups of "yoof" hanging around the car park area, many without scarves clearly spoiling for a fight as we walked quickly past. There were some Saints fans arguing amongst themselves as we walking over the railway line and I though that was going to turn really nasty but it petered out. Walking back to the station was OK and there were plenty of OB there. I asked one a question about the correct platform and he came over and spent five minutes chatting to me. I thought at the time he did so just to ensure that nobody had a pop at us (my lad by this time had undone his coat). I admit I was quite happy for the conversation.
  • Good to hear, Bing.

You do have to be savvy about these things, just as you need to be a bit streetwise out in the wilds of south London!

    got to agree
  • Look for it you will find it, stay sensible like Bing and you will reduce the risk of it finding you.

If you want to find it follow the advice of those you know to be in the know. Simple really
  • Hope it all went okay at Cov yesterday;
I've only really had trouble at Wolves,Cov and the Spanners (who hasn't at the rusty toolbox ?).
  • i am sure it will be a lot safer at games next season back at real football clubs.
  • I think you'll find just the opposite, the hooligan problem has virtually disapeared from Premiership clubs, and also pretty much the Championship, but it does appear to be quite rife in the lower leagues.
  • No trouble at Coventry yesterday as it was more like a library
