Your season ticket and related questions answered: From the OS

Why are there reductions for everyone except adults, seniors and U21s in the lower north stand?

The lower north was the only area of the ground where season-ticket prices were reduced last summer, and already represents excellent value at £12.60 per match for an adult and £8.70 for a concession.

However, there was no great evidence of migration into that area. In fact, people tended to move into the more expensive seats that had been vacated by people who didn't renew.

Ideally, we would have reduced every season ticket this year, but we couldn't afford to do that, so a decision was taken to focus on junior prices all round the ground, which will give extra help to adults with young families.

We're going down and the credit crunch is affecting everyone. Shouldn't the price reductions be bigger?

The directors have had to balance the desire to retain the maximum number of season-ticket holders with the need to bring in as much revenue as possible to run the club and fund the team.

That means making a judgement about the effect of any level of reduction on people making up their mind whether to renew. There is no right answer to this question, but prices are pitched to achieve this balance.

Will we get a free season ticket for 2010/11 if we go up?

Unfortunately not. That was only possible in the Premier League because of the television money that clubs receive at that level.

Why are you setting minimum matchday prices now?

The consistent message we have received from season-ticket holders, especially since we were relegated from the Premier League, is that they expect a significant financial advantage over fans who buy match by match.

Some have told us they feel they have not been getting it, even though the statistics say otherwise, so we are committing ourselves publicly at the outset so there can be no misunderstanding.

Does that mean that, unlike this season, the matchday prices will be the same for every game?

That's basically the intention, but if we do decide to have a cheaper ticket for a particular match we will offset that by making another one dearer to ensure we reach the minimum we have set.

We expect most matches to be priced £17, £22 and £25 for adults, £17 for over 60s/U21s and £5 for all U18s, again with families in mind.

For adults and seniors/U21s in the north upper, NW quadrant, family stand and wings of the east and upper west that's a £2 increase on some games this season and a £3 reduction on others. It's a £5 reduction or the same in the remaining areas, apart from three midweek matches that were cheaper.

When will my season-ticket form arrive and when can I buy?

We hope to get personalised (ie partially pre-completed) forms onto doormats between Easter and the Blackpool game, but as an existing holder you'll be able to buy online and over the phone on 0871 226 1905 from Thursday, April 9th.

As well as existing holders, we will be sending personalised forms to regular match purchasers. Printed forms for new applicants should be available from the club after Easter and we'll also put them online as a pdf.

Incidentally, because of the data matching involved, it is cheaper for us to write to each existing holder rather than put a number of forms for one address into the same envelope, even though it might seem as if we are wasting money.

Will the season-ticket prices go up for people who buy later on in the summer?

There are no plans for that. The only deadline is June 1st to retain your existing seat, although obviously it helps the club if you are able to buy early.

If you want to pay by Premium Credit in eight monthly instalments, then ideally you should apply before that date too.

Why is the Young Addicks only open to fans up to the age of 14, and why isn't it called the Junior Reds?

With the Junior Reds we used to find it difficult to devise benefits that would appeal right across the age range up to 16.

As for the name, we wanted a fresh start and we were aware that there is a lot of confusion already because Junior Reds FC continues to flourish in local junior leagues.

However, we're certainly looking to build on the work done via the Junior Reds in the past and we're happy to admit that. An application form will be in the season-ticket pack, online and around the ground shortly.
  • Spoke to an Arsenal fan on Saturday, his season ticket is £1,200!

The price we are getting charged, I can't afford not to buy one!
  • QPR have announced that they are freezing prices for those who renew before April the 17th as an "Early Bird discount" but not announced what the prices will be if their fans don't renew after that. People moaning about 290 quid for the North Lower - how would you feel about 525 quid instead (and 599 for the Upper North) possibly going up even more?
  • I spoke to my dad (who I go with) and he had spoken to the other guy we go up with, we're in the West Stand. We came to the conclusion there could have been more incentive to encourage everyone to renew their tickets early.

We don't have to worry about getting tickets next season, and we could just as easily buy tickets for the matches we want to go to on the day, or even get season tickets but leave it until July.

Think they could have taken a bit more off but put the prices up to the ones they have now on June 1st. Apart from keeping your seat (which doesn't matter too much, and there's a chance it won't be taken anyway), there's no reason to renew in a hurry, apart from obviously helping the club.

Can see me renewing mine but they might share one between them.
  • ..........

    Dunno what to say..
  • Have only just seen this, interesting...i had pretty much decided not to renew and go to more away games instead next season, I can now see myself being sucked in to a season ticket and still go to more away games...the misses won't be happy - but if we keep the nucleus of our team together i will be !
