Arsenal Tickets Allocation

  • How many points have you got Rothko?!
  • I think I would be on about 400
  • Would your renewals work in retrospect? There'll be a lot of people who'd be racking up some points, even though the club's probably binned the files ;-)

AFKA/ Rothko - you should get that suggestion done as a blog piece. We need to get this suggestion in people's faces or the club will just stick its head in the sand as usual.
  • The system starts at the beginning of a season, and points start then
  • [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]Over my pret christmas sarnie, I think we might have a points system

VG Members get 200 points to start, and then 50 points per season if they renew, if they don't, they lose the points.

Then 100 for ST holders, 50 for Platinum members.

Then 10 points for home cup games, 10 points for away London derbys, 20 points for Midlands and south coast games, 30 for Yorkshire and NW, and 40 for NE.

Add 15 for away Evening games or 12.15/5.15 Kick offs.

Simple system, people know where they stand and their levels.

Then for big games you bring the system in.

So Arsenal people with 500 points get first dibs, then 400, then 250, then general sale.

    Whatca think?

uhmm. Problem there is that if you joined VG at the start you'd now have over 700 points and even if you hadn't been to an away game this season you'd still get first dibs for Arsenal. I feel you need a scheme to sort out the regulars first (stamped card, stubs etc) and then VG get first dibs afterwards.
  • All thought out over a sarnie Large, details details.

The system wouldn't be retrospective, would start at the beginning of a season, and then build from there.

    Henry, regarding this.

I am a season ticket holder and been to 5 away games this season. I have not kept any of the stubs because as far as i know i was not made aware of it.

I assume i have no comeback? Even though i have given my season ticket number each time i've booked tickets i doubt "The Commercial Centre" will have records?

If this is out of your remit then i'll ring up ASAP but i'm sure you've had plenty of enquiries regarding this.

If not then i'll just "borrow" my dad's VG card as he is away. ;-)

WSS - this is EXACTLY what I believed these new Red Cards and Red Card Platinums were for. When buying tickets you'd quote your number and the purchase would be registered to your card and then now you'd produce your card and the computer would confirm that you had indeed purchased x number of tickets. Simple really. The Club will just say that you should have kept stubs, they keep no record and use your Dad's VG card. I wouldn't say this if you hadn't been to five away games I'd say get to the back of the queue !!
  • FAO Henry. Something to get your teeth into methinks.

And guess what five they were?

Reading, Sheff U, Fulham, West Ham and Wigan.

Could it be a worst set?!

Edit: i only watched Spurs on the net, thank god...or not

  • Quite. What's the Red Card/ Platinum card for? Or can I use them to get a cheap haircut in Bexleyheath or something?
  • I'm in the same boat as WSS though in a slightly better situation - have been to five away games, but only have three stubs.

I heard somewhere the other day that the point of the "commercial centre" is so the club can cut back on staff levels - and that the ticket office boss left recently. I'm starting to get the feeling the club is putting more effort into lucrative things like room hire/ conference facilities and whatever, and is just forgetting about the bread-and-butter stuff like "selling tickets to fans". Because this is just dim.
  • The conference facilities at the Valley are rubbish, probably the worst at a Premiership Ground in London, shockingly bad against the options in Greenwich as well

not as dim as wasting money on postage by sending back the ticket stubs to you after the Arsenal game. Not as dim as taking the chance on the Post Office losing them and then asking you to produce eight stubs for a cup final ticket.

If one of them was less dim than the rest they'd realise all you need to do is stamp the stub on the back and then it couldn't be used again by another for the Arsenal game.
  • But that'd mean sending someone to Ryman's to buy a stamp and ink! Too much effort.
  • isn't this a lot of aggro for one game a season?
  • Cheers latimer for the link.

It is an issue and as I said somewhere else on this thread I did put a loyalty scheme similar to the one that Rothko suggestes to the board back in August but it wasn't taken up.

I will get on to them again but don't expect a change on the Arsenal situation.

VG is worthwhile as it does contrubute to the academy and that is, and may become even more, important. Also the club have now said that VG will get priority and it will be difficult to go back on that.

But what about the stubs issue? It looks like they've made this up as they've gone along.
  • there'll be no need to worry about away allocations and tickets next season , if we stay up cardiff maybe a new ground but not as welcoming as many so can't see there being a big rush for them and if we go down there'll be plenty of room available...

I believed this to be the case too - but when I bought my Wycombe ticket over the phone last week I was only askeed for my membership number, not my Red Card number. Mind you - I'd completely forgotten the thing existed! lol

  • what if, like we do, take it in turns to buy tickets, ie, i'll buy 6 or so away tickets, and quote my st number, not red card number.

then next game, one of our other group takes the hit and buys the 6 tickets, how, unless you state everyone's name will they know who is going to the game?

bit of a flaw isn't it? unless everyone buys their own and hope that there are enough spare seats so we call all sit together?
  • Sure the system can do it, book the tickets, give the membership numbers for each person, and sorted, or as with Englandfans, you send your stub in and get a cap/points.
  • I can't believe this old chestnut is STILL rumbling on.

A points system ffs?! Who's going to aminister that? It wont run itself you know - or should the club take on someone especially to do it? And why - just how many times do we ever sell out our allocation for away games in the Prem, let alone if we do end up relegated?

Totally pointless if you ask me. Though not I spose if it gives people something to take their mind off the state we're in at the moment - not to mention giving Henry to make a name for himself with - then fair play.

One question though. For all of the scrambling around for tickets that can go on sometimes when the big games come up - which I should point out has ALWAYS gone on for big games no matter what division we've been in, it's the nature of the beast - has anyone on here ever not got a ticket for a game they wanted to go to and tried to get a ticket for??? Not "friend of friends" or "the bloke who sits in my row" by YOU? Anyone???
  • yes, i couldn't get a ticket in the away end for gillingham away in the cup last year
  • OK, you don't like the way it's being done but lay off the "dim staff" bit. That hardly helps.

And from the links here it seems that ticket stubs were mentioned before. Maybe not as clear as it could have been but not really "made up as they've gone along"

There are a number of weaknesses, IMHO, in how it is done now but as this thread shows there are a number of diffrent views and how it should be done or if it should be done at all.

As Suzi and others have said if a points system were in place you would have to produce all six names and memberships numbers to buy a group of tickets and the moans about "I'm paying 10p a minute/why do you need all the names/Human rights/etc/etc" would start. The system can do it but it's about convincing the club that they should give more work to the ticket office/commericial centre and if it is needed when we rarely sell out. Back in August when I tried to introduce the idea they weren't convinced but maybe with my feet under the table a bit now I'll have more success this time

And that is assuming that we could all agree on a fair system that includes games in the 1970s!!

I've contacted the press office to ask them to further publicise the ticket stubs and I've put in a call to PV to discuss it.

    Cheers

Funny how a load of mancs can cope with it?
  • That will be the Mancs that sell out their away allocation most weeks so there is a clear incentive to the fans and the club to record the details. As this thread show that fans at CAFC are not all convinced and as I know neither are the club.

I'm for a loyalty scheme and not just to make a name for myself Off-it. Being Chair of Valley Flags does that ; - )
  • My point is that ordering 6 tickets together ain't too much to cope for Moss Sides finest, so southerners shouldn't have too many problems.

Oh and City aren't selling the allocations that much this season
  • Are you one of those people that think that cos people are northern monkeys that means they can't cope with forms and numbers even if they they sign on and claim benefits.

You'll be moaning about immigrants from Poland next ;-)

why, do you no any different Henry ;-)
