Just looked it up for you, Oggy. Jan 3, 1983. Simonsen was playing and we were winning 3-1 at HT, too ! They got back to 3-2, then scored three goals in eight mins to wrap it up...

Funny old season, that one.Five games later we lost 7-1 at Burnley - and then the following week stuffed Chelsea 5-2 at the Valley...

    Those were the days!

    Ref's name is a cracker ......!

    ;o)
  • No sign of Ambrose and 4-5-1 again, with Gray replacing Burton.

Interesting that Randolph stays in... just the five changes from the winning team, then!

Well apart from Randolph in for Elliott, perhaps - the team is picked by most.

bugger Jeffers is playing! I hope the ex-player jinx doesn't happen for a change
  • I think Moo2 can feel hard done by being left out, seemed like he really cared after the win at Norwich. But i guess Murty is more reliable and solid defensively.
So whats the odds on Franny f*cking Jeffers scoring then?

    Bloody Jeffers, shoot the runt.

Ambrose was declared 'doubtful' by Henry's OS yesterday, so not really surprised.

If there's one ex-CAFC striker who is so crap that they can't score even against us, it has to be Jeffers. Surely ? Please ?

    ..........

I'd give Randolph an extended run in the team, with Weaver injured and perhaps the club needing to make a decision on who of Weaver, Elliot and Randolph to keep/sell then they need to give hima few games to see what he looks like in the first team.

Is that Beevers .... ? Playing in the same team as Fanny Jeffers?
  • Is Waghorn injured? If not then what is the point in him being here and us paying him? Can't play in the cup and even without Burton he still doesn't make the bench.

Weaver's the one of the 3 earning the big money, apparently nearly £100k a week if you beieve some who are 'in the know', lol

So he's the one in the out-tray, I guess - if they can sell him and his hip injury.

I think Elliott's a bit unlucky to lose his place. Rudolph the Red Nose played very well at Norwich, so as the man in posession of the shirt, he keeps it. Mind games from Parky, maybe to get Elliott to improve?

Well Waggers is off back to Sunderland tonight unless his loan is extended - which clearly it won't be...

pretty clear that Parky concluded he was a boy not yet quite up to doing a man's job. Tend to agree, too. JonJo is two years younger but looks a much more mature player than Waghorn.
  • Before people start moaning about changing a winning team.

alot of those that came in a did magnificently are not really anywhere near the full squad

it is my opinion that Parky played those 6 so that if we lost the feeling wouldnt be that our first team couldnt get a result again

good mgmt on his behalf except now that they won those 6 changes never got to expeirence the win bad mgmt by him :-)

Loan finishes after today's match, so probably been sent home with a thank you note for his manager.

Also, if he travelled on the team bus, we probably dropped him off at Sheffied railway station and bought him a ticket.
It's cheaper on the train to Sunderland from Sheffield, than from London.

    ;o)
  • As for the changes - besides dropping the loanees so they couldn't be cup-tied we can't go in with a team consisting of too many young players in a must-win league match. This looks a much stronger side.

Soares the 35th player to appear in the shirt this season, BTW...in just 31 league and cup matches...

If we'd been able to start the season with this team, apart from Weaves for Randolph maybe, we'd have thought that a pretty strong side..... ?

Why should we be surprised that this is team Parky selected? Especially when you consider that most posters pretty much picked the side with their own selections.

Not far from the team I said I thought it would be, probably fair Randolph stays in goal after his clean sheet. Interesting that Soares is on the left, probably best Sam plays on the right though.

Good to see Moutaouakil on the bench ahead of Youga, and Todorov there as well.

Waghorn must be going back. Better all round player than McLeod and Dickson, didn't see much of him but don't think he's a Championship player just yet. Not miles off, probably needed a team that can play good football on the ground, much more an intelligent player than a physical one.
