  • "CHAIRMAN Richard Murray stormed into Charlton’s dressing room after their latest shambles and told them: You’re a disgrace.

The Addicks chief was furious after seeing his flops crash 2-1 to Coventry at The Valley on Tuesday.

It was the South London club’s 12th game without a win and left them rooted at the bottom of the Championship.

Charlton were mixing it with the big boys in the Premier League just 18 months ago.

A club insider revealed: “The chairman was not happy.

“He came in and told us we were a disgrace and we should all be ashamed after that performance.

“It was quite a shock for the players and coaching staff because none of us had ever seen him that angry before.”

It is a fall from grace for an outfit which was held as a role model for all aspiring clubs.

Things seemed to turn sour when boss Alan Curbishley left after 15 years at the end of the 2005-06 campaign.

Phil Parkinson took over as caretaker manager when Alan Pardew departed last month.

But with one draw and three defeats in four games, he could lose the job to first-team coach Mark Kinsella.

Steve Bailey, chairman of the Greenwich and Bexley branch of the Charlton Supporters Club, said: “Nobody seems to be playing with passion.

“We played five loan players against Coventry. Do they really give a damn what happens to us? I don’t think they do.

“The likes of Keith Gillespie would have been a great loan signing 10 years ago but not now.” "
  • Well done Mr Murray, someone with balls & passion, keep it up sir.
  • yeah well done but this is the super soraway Sun quoting an unnamed 'Club insider' who is unlikely to have been in the dressing room and if this insider was a player why not quote an 'unnamed player'
  • it was quoted in yesterday's telegraph that Parkinson turned up a hour late for press conference due to meeting with Murray so it may well have some substance to it.We all know how passionate RM is about the club so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
  • It wouldn't surprise me with all the effort and money he has put in, he is probably feeling the way we all feel he is a supporter.

    Well done Richard Murray.
  • About time someone told them what a pile of shite they have been, problem is with some of them it will go in one ear and out of the other as they don't give a toss, but well done Mr Murray.
  • I'm going to stick my neck out and say that that's the first time RM has ever gone into the dressing room after a game...for good or bad....Good for him....wouldn't we all like to have done!

  • With the amount of loanees however, did it hit as hard as it should of done?
  • [cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]With the amount of loanees however, did it hit as hard as it should of done?
That's what I was thinking. I think we should start sending a few of them back for that very reason.
  • Well done Richard Murray.

Crap quote from the CASC guy IMO though.
  • At the end of the day, they are all employees of the club and Mr Murray is the paymaster, we still pay the wages to loanees, look at Burton, reportedly going to Cheltenham for 3k a week, lept at the chance to join us for 6k a week, who wouldn't?

Time to send them back and trust in youth, they can do no worse surely?
  • It's all just a bit sad really isn't it.
  • Murray is not actually in charge anymore though is he?

It's all Chappell I thought now...
  • [cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Well done Richard Murray.

Yeah, it was about as bad a quote as his namesake played on Tueday....:o)

Where did you get that from?
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Well done Richard Murray.

Not totally convinced that this actually happened as it doesn't sound like RM but he's got as much reason to be pissed off as the rest of us.

Agree crap quote from the CASC guy.
  • When it was reported this morning that Manuel Almunia publicly criticised his team mates for a lack of passion and pride in wearing the shirt, it struck me that, unless I'm very much mistaken, I've not heard anything whatsoever like that from any of our players. The situation is pathetic. The players are pathetic - probably the most gutless, sad, collective of shower of shite parading as professional footballers this club has ever had the misfortune to have on its books.

Loanees or not, good or bad, they're being paid very well and their employer is entitled to expect nothing less than 100%. I hope the Scum are right on this one, I hope RM did go in there and put a rocket up their arrises cos someoone needs to.
  • IF this happened, and with it being in The Sun thats a huge IF then good on you Mr Murray!!

  • Again if this is true then:

    FAN F*****G TASTIC.........

I salute you Mr. Murray, wot took you so long, at last a good old fashioned bollocking!!
  • "The likes of Keith Gillespie would have been a great loan signing 10 years ago but not now.” "

yes thats it, more encouragement for the team.

i wish some people would just SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • If it's true, then hat off to Murray. The Mail yesterday also carried a piece about Murray making Pardew fight for his compensation warning him that he faced a lengthy legal case. I just hope that these stories, for once, are true.

Time to dish out some headlocks me thinks B :)
  • as much as I hate to say it about one of my all time heroes but Kinsella has shown at reserve team level he is not up to the 1st team job just yet.

Hope I am wrong I really do
  • 10 years ago he was one of the best wingers in the premiership!
  • thought he did well last year?

Murray is still in charge (now chariman of the plc I think) as I have said previously.
  • [cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]thought he did well last year?

Murray is Chair of the football Club.

Chappell is Chair of the PLC.

    Murray is the majority shareholder.
  • ah I had it the other way around, so did Murrays position change? or did Simons just move out to make way for cash, I mean Chappel..

RM was Chair of the PLC and MS was Chair of the Football club.

Now Chappell is Chair and Bob Whitehand Deputy Chair of the PC and Richard and Martin are the same with the FC.

And yes it does,to a certain extent, reflect the money they have invested.

One of reasons given was that Richard could concentrate on football matters and managing Pardew/Parky/Poyet while Chappell could look after the corporate governance and line manage Steve Waggott.
