Blackpool v Charlton - Match thread

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
How do you see this one going guys ?

Blackpool have won 17 of the 26 clashes at their ground, with us winning just 5.

Blackpool haven't won in their last 4 home games, and have lost the last 3, though they did have a good win away to Plymouth last week.

Will Parky make changes ? What team would you play for this one ?

  • Win, fairly comfortably.

It can't be worse than last year (althought the weather might) and I really think we are going to cane them.

Plus my old man is going to an away game and on the rare occasions he does go we seem to win (Faye at Pompey was his last away game I think).

Its gotta be a win, little worried of threat from liam dickinson

3-1 US or scrappy 1-0 US

no changes, surely same starting 11, would like Mcloed to get on for bit of pace up top but not to start,
  • 2-1 to us.............the tide is turning
  • don't think we are equiped for a tough battle up north in the cold ........... Blackpool 2-0
  • Maybe take out Gray for Waghorne if we can replace another Loanee, can't think who
  • Bizarrely I voted for a CAFC win. Must be because it's 5 Dec today...
  • BBC are reporting an unchanged line-up.

I hope so because I think that's pretty crucial for us at the moment.

2-0 to us. "Burton and Bailey blitz Blackpool!"
  • 1-0 burton deflection
  • Start with the same side, try and avoid their keeper this week though.
  • After having my glass completely emptied by Mr Pardew and Sheff Utd I now find my glass half full again courtesy of Mr Parkinson and Southampton.

    Charlton Win!

  • 2-0 to Blackpool. Play well first half , let one in and watch it all fall apart.
  • Another defeat for me I'm afraid, still cannot get over how bad we were up at their place last year, truly awful.
  • For the first time in months im prediciting a Win for the addicks, 1 nil or 2-1 but Parky's first 3 points...
  • Local weather should be sunny and cold but not windy so shouldn't be as bad as last year. I can't really comment on the team as I haven't seen then play for a while but I feel a settled side would be best.

As for the result, why else would I subject my self to the discomfort for an open stand if wasn't for a Charlton win 1-2
  • I can only see us losing this one. Still think we aren't strong enough away from home.
  • 3-1 to charlton gray hatrick... the huge away following spurred us on to victory
  • 3-1 charlton with Jonny Fortune on the scoresheet.

Start of the Phil Parkinson romp up the table.
  • 3-1 Blackpool...
  • I find this a particularly hard one to predict. As most of us found up there last season, the weather has a major impact on conditions, and you really do need to be up for a battle.

I think their manager has done a great job there, and is certainly one of the names i would be trumpeting if it looks like we are actively looking for a new permenant manager.

Don't know what to predict to be honest.

Exactly what I thought. Only good news is I'm always wrong :-)

  • [cite]Posted By: yung2368[/cite]1-4 to Blackpool. Lost 0-3 at first half and score 1 goal in second half but give another one at the end. I have seen this a couple times this season already.

    Parky=Pardew=lost=league 1

I don't know where you work, but do you agree with everything your boss says/does? would you do things different if you were in charge?
  • Im hoping that players like Bailey and Mcelvey are more up for a battle in the wind and rain than the likes of Youga and ZZ were last year.

    A battling point me thinks

Yes totally. I remember Halford standing in front of us waiting to take a throw in and he was shivering as much as we were! ZZ was wondering what the hell had happened, and didn't Semedo come on and look in a state of shock at the conditions he was thrown into!
  • I voted for a Charlton win btw - 2-1 to us. we'll be 2 up and let in a sneaky one at the end. I also think Semedo will have climatised to the weather in the uk now and play a blinder and score as will Burton.
  • sorry but can't see past a defeat, albeit a narrow one followed by more 'things are improving', 'we can see the light at the end of the tunnel', 'we need to get points on the board now' comments.
  • thats a shame large, because when i come on here, all I see is "we're doomed" "1st div here we come" "we had it so good with curbs" even when the team and the caretaker manager have been working hard to turn things around.

Sooz, I don't doubt for a moment that the team and Parky are working hard to turn things around but that doesn't automatically mean they will be successful in doing that. In my opinion Parky will fall short. Sorry if that doesn't go down well in some quarters but that is my opinion. Believe me I hope that I am wrong, that we win the next three games, Parky gets the job f/t and we finish the season tenth. Nothing would make me happier. Personally I don't think that will happen. That is what opinions are all about, they are opinions. Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong.

BTW, does Waggy reply to letters received ?

fair enough, I've just noticed you a bit more negative than you used to be and was trying to lull you out of your spell!

he receives an awful lot and replies as and when he can. obviously, there has been a lot going on. he also forwards some on to others at the club that may be better placed to answer the many queries that are raised.
  • Hi all - Blackpool fan in peace

I'm hoping for a repeat of the 5-3 goalfest we had last year but as we are playing like a pub team at times and I don't think you are having the best of times either I can't see it!

Realistic prediction 1-0 to the pool
  • welcome thatsme......
