I'm not advocating that weaver should be dropped, I still think that he is the best we have but as an alternitive viewpoint, he has looked shaky in a couple of games this season. Wolves at home is one that leaps instantly to mind.
Still here lefty, just keeping an eye on the footballing uneducated, to be fair most have restored my faith, unfortunately we have too many Fulhamwannabes on here for my liking.
Now SE7 there is a real charlton fan!! (ohhh a double exclamation mark, does that not give my post an air of legitimacy? Eltham green steered me wrong so many years back)
has Weaver not saved us some points as well? my memory is bad but I'm sure we could have lost 6-0 to Barnsley if he hadn't been inbetween the sticks?!?
[cite]Posted By: upminster addick[/cite]..how Ironic as he seems to drop every ball that comes near him!..just go back and I have never been so gutted for the team to have that joke in goal ruin all their and our efforts!
He probably had his head in his hand in the dressing room afterwards..I wonder who picked it up for him!!!
My vote for the most ridiculous knee-jerk topic/post of the year.
ha!... we obviously cant "drop" weaver because we cant replace him with anyone Let me guess, we'll go and loan some 17 year old keeper? was a disapointment, to see that a 2-1 lead literally "SLIPPED" out of our hands
Anyone remember the goal at Maine Rd, when Nicky Weaver was playing for City? Weaver sliced a goal kick out to his right & it hit a Charlton player (Claus, Fish?). Ball seemed to take minutes to loop over his head & into the net. I was stuck in with City fans and suppressing the laugh for that gave me farmers' for a week!
yea it was against Claus, did not think he sliced it though, thought it was full bloodied byt Claus had closed him down, right on to his shin, 3-1 to us I think
Weaver just like Parky said is a solid keeper. The whole team have been crap recently and playing behind that lot all season would be enough to shatter anyones confidence. Get off his back and once the team is more solid (yesterday) so will he be.
he is better than a 3rd from bottom keeper and either we go up the league and he stays with us or we get relegated and he leaves us and then we'll see what a proper chuff keeper will be...

Cardiff and Barnsley notably. (Although Rothko says it's 1 in 60, so it must be true)
However with no genuine 1st team cover we are, again, lumbered with someone underperforming.
He's not the worst keeper we've ever had by a long shot.
Bring back Jim Stannard.

That's my vote for the most presumptuous comment of the year!
