I got as far as post 4 on this thread and that was it, they echo my thoughts entirely and really I need add no more.

    Time to go, Mr Pardew.

Let's just hope the board are reading this though cos his comments after the game on Saturday reaffirmed what we know, that he will not walk: "...this is what I'm paid to do and until I'm told otherwise I will continue to do so".
  • I supported Pards when he was appointed and have done ever since ... until now.

He appears unable to motivate the team, has lost the support of the crowd (which is some achievement considering how much he has been backed), and if rumours are true, does not have the full support of the board due to his attitude.

This team are failing to respond to any instruction or formation that he puts in place. OK, we are not good enough for the top 3 or 4, but the players are good enough to be up there in the top 8, and with confidence could even get to a playoff place. But the way things are going, we are going to be struggling to avoid relegation - there is no way that should be happening with this squad.

    Therefore ... Pards, go.
  • Last season I didn't renew my season ticket for the very reason that many people are signing this petition - Alan Pardew is in charge.

When he joined us and we beat West Ham 4-0 we should have stayed up, we had the upper hand and from that point onwards he has shown a complete lack of interest, passion and desire to motivate the players and the fans.

It's not that I've got a vendetta against the man but I expect any manager that comes into Charlton to have a passion and a determination to succeed that is relayed both to the players and the fans. This has been lacking and I can only say that I am surprised that it has taken this long for people to start calling for his head.

We vastly underachieved last year, but he has now been in the job long enough to have assembled his own squad which quite frankly just isn't good enough for the level we are at. We have too many young, inexperienced players that can't take the pressure or criticism that comes at this level. We also have many players from lower leagues that do not know what it takes to grind out results and battle for promotion. We have show a complete naievety in the players we have brought in and the ones we have let go.

Pardew it's time to go I'm afraid - Too much talk, not enough action!
  • he has to go and he knows the board wanna sack him but can't afford to ... FACT
i want him gone as much for the ineptitude of his teams and the fact he's not man enough to walk , hold his hands up and go.... he's playing us for mugs ... get him out now
  • He's lost the players, lost the crowd and finally lost me.
  • My name added. Not that I know what the answer is or who to replace him, but the only word I can use to describe Pardew's Charlton is woeful.
  • Very telling too that this time around, unlike all previous occasions, no-one is putting forward the 'but who better is there to take over' argument. Tells you how bad it is.
  • I will gladly sign this. I am always very supportive of the man in charge at Charlton, but I have totally had enough, he needs to go, today would be ideal.

yep cos i can't think of anyone who could've done worse than he has up till now
  • no game plan , no passion , no tactical knowledge, no fight , no idea , no going until he gets his money, RESIGN TODAY

  • Added on the basis that we need someone ready to go as our new manager- but not just anyone.

It's a brilliant opportunity for someone to come in. Great board and Chairman to work with- excellent stadium and fans,

But if Pardew won't walk- take the time to get the right man, and i suspect Parky/Kins, are not the right No 1's.

Hangs head in shame and logs out feeling really dis-loyal and un "Charltonish"....
  • I was firmly in the keep him till the end of the season camp because I didn't believe that another change of manager would help. Now however I can't see that there is anyway he can remain in charge.

It seems as though he somehow manages to suck to talent out of players, Youga looked excelent when he returned from loan, Bailey looked superb in his first few games, Gray was scoring goals, why wasn't Big Chris scoring goals with us like he is this season? And all these players look totally different under Pardew!

His statements after the last game were really the last straw for me, to say ''We now need to stick with our best side'' is the stupidest thing I've heard for a long time, what have we been doing for the last year then? And his answer ''maybe bring in someone on loan'', I'm sorry but that clearly did us no favours last year.

I've never felt like I don't want to go the the next game but even after already buying train & match tickets I don't think I'll be going to Birmingham!
  • Reluctantly I find myself signing too. Occasional flair too often followed by woefully predictable collapse. Scared confused players (who aren't blameless) in unbalanced sides suffering from muddled, panic-stricken selection. Sadly this isn't an unfortunate little sticky patch - it's a steady progression backwards that despite us all searching for a key "turning point" shows no sign at all of abating.

Even after the sales, the Board have backed AP and we've been able to nip in and take the leading goalscorer from a team of Burnley's resources. Yet there they sit in the top six, well organised and well MANAGED. Blackpool are currently 12th., Bristol City, Swansea, and Plymouth high above us, whilst Hull City take the Premiership by storm. It's too easy simply to pick random examples at any given time, but so many moderate squads in this league produce well balanced teams, organised, drilled, and with the necessary balance of skill, experience, and resolve. We don't.

Surely, all other circumstances considered, a good manager should get the best out of his available resources (in this case from players he himself has assembled). Squeeze the absolute maximum from even a limited individual. In how many cases can we say AP has done that? He laudably wanted to attack, entertain, and be popular. I bought into that, but sadly this time he has failed, and must be big enough to acknowledge it.

As observed by others, this feels unpleasant and treachereous, but must surely now be in the best interests of a club we all worked so hard to re-establish, before it really is too late. Thank-you for trying, but please leave amicably before it all becomes too unseemly.
  • If nothing else, the one thing i thought we would get with Pardew when he was appointed was passion.I've seen nothing of the sort. That ,and the fact he can make excuses until the cows come home mean he's got to go for me.
  • I think he has to go. So we may have to pay compensation to him, however we will lose more money if we go down to League 1. Pardew will not walk his ego wont let him. Lets cut our loses and as supporters we have a voice here to show our unhappiness at the situation. I believe we have a squad good enough to get in the play offs. Unfortunately the manager appears to be lacking.
    I'd have Curbs back tomorrow.
    Or Billy Davies.
  • agree with most of the sentiments on here.

I have always supported the manager, well since Andy nelson left, but only fellow oldies will remember that. Dark days at the moment and it shouldnt be happening with the players we have.

    Time to go Al.
  • Petition signed.

Very reluctantly because I was hoping that he would turn it around. However Saturday proved that we are in freef all and have no hope under the current set up.

    PARDEW OUT
  • I lost the faith earlier than many on here, but always kept on hoping against hope and my better judgment that he might somehow turn it round. Sadly I have watched in disbelief as things have gone from bad to worse. Once more I keep hoping he might do the decent thing and walk, but there is no evidence of such a sense of fairness within the man. Whilst it may seem like we cannot afford to let him go, we most certainly cannot afford to keep him any longer. Let's save our season, and possibly the future of the Club, while there is still time.
  • The players are more than capable in this division to be comfortably winning the majority of games but they looked totally confused on the pitch. That responsibility is the manager and unfortunately Mr Pardew is not making headway in this key area of creating a Team. We are spiralling downwards and this needs to be arrested ASAP.

Mr Pardew....thanks for your time with our club but I am sure you realise the situation is worsening and that we do not have enough time for you to continue your career with the threat of further relegation.

For me to actually want a Charlton manager to leave things have to be bad. And this has what it has come to, Mr Pardew please leave quietly.

I welcomed Pards signing because of his Charlton connections and apparent good record, however I quickly became concerned about him during our relegation fight when he took his foot off the gas after our promising revival started. We subsequently dropped away when we should have been going hell for leather for wins=points , not draws which were never going to save us.

These questionable tactics, were followed by, bad team selections, poor man management (criticising and dropping certain players at a moments notice, while sticking with others despite form), poor use of loan system, and inability to select his best 11. Not to mention purchases of players for large amounts who were largely gambles and not tried and tested at Championship level.

The treatment of Iwelumo after Grays puzzling purchase has been a major failure and example of Pards confused thinking for me, this man was scoring for us and has showed since he can score for another club at the same rate.

Pards is obsessed with bringing in and gambling on strikers as the main thrust of this player purchasing, yet the majority get a decent try out, at the same time he completely neglects creativity, supply and posession.

The final straw for me was the beginning of this season when I noted his away tactics which seemed to encourage and in fact welcome back to the wall defending against sides we should have been trying to dominate and beat, this has contributed i believe to the final undermining of confidence in the team.

The longer he stays now the more the fans and more importantly the players will lose faith in him if they have any left, he has run out of ideas and objectivity, and will drag us into League 1 if we let him.

  • Only just seen this thread otherwise I think I would be on the first page !

Has to go - he has no idea who his first 11 are and after every game says that there needs to be changes.

JimmyMelrose came back to blighty last week and saw two games (Burnley & Ipswich away) in which we employed 3 different left backs (Cranie, Basey, Youga) and none we injured and therfore had to be replaced,

    says it all really.
  • Along with many others on this post it is with regret that I feel that there can now be no other option now than for Pardew to go. Up until Saturday I was happy to be optimistic and believe things could be turned round, but now .... I think our only way out of this is without Pardew.
  • Think it was Chappell the other day who came out and said Pardew will be here for a long time to come. I know they're thinking clubs that stick with their manager benefit, but that won't happen if you don't have the right manager in the first place.

I really get the feeling with Pardew he just keeps trying things hoping it'll click into place. It feels like he wants to sign players and turn them into good Premier League players, which he doesn't seem capable of. He sees the talent in players like Yassin, Racon and Varney etc etc, but doesn't get the best out of any of them. We have so many inconsistent, inexperienced young players that can't yet handle the pressure, especially when they're all playing together and coming in and out of a struggling side. I want to see them come through, but it won't happen the way Pardew is managing them.

The balance isn't there at all, but he seems to be hoping and convincing himself that the potential being there means it'll suddenly all fall into place.

It's only the start of November and we've had several strike partnerships. It's been the same when it comes to central midfielders. Racon and Shelvey, Shelvey and Holland, Bailey and Racon, Holland and Bailey, Zheng and Bailey, Wright and Bailey, and thats without Semedo or Ambrose playing there as they did last season.

Since we've been in this league, at left back alone we've had Thatcher, Basey, Powell, Youga, Semedo (occasionally), Cranie, not to mention we had Gibbs and Aswad Thomas capable of playing there. Right back we've had Yassin, Mills, Halford, Cranie, Semedo and Sankofa (very briefly). Has any other team in the football league had such a large number of full backs?
  • i cant think of anyone that would get less out of our squad than AP is.

    re the petition, i'm in.
  • Signed.

He is making the same mistakes that cost us last season that he said he has learnt from.

His signings especially up front have been costly, he doesnt know his best XI, doesnt have the courage to stick with certain players, yet gives other certain players too long in the side when they are out of form, hasnt sorted out the back 4 since we were relegated, takes rubbish, and I could go on but it would only be abusive.

For what its worth I wont go again until he is out but I wasnt going to Plymouth anyway so am banking on him being out by Birmingham.
  • Agree with so many of the above points.

The verbal diarrhoea the man comes out with is akin to a bad polititian and is a slap in the face for loyal Charlton fans, and the history of this club itself.

There is no way this team of players and this club should be in the position it's in.

I have had the feeling from day one that he is not passionate about Charlton. He has had more than enough time to get some pride and passion into these players. I am jealous of Hull, we used to be like that, coming back to draw or win games when seemingly down and out, pride for the shirt, will to win. We haven't had this at Charlton for about 4 or 5 years now.

    Pardew out.
  • No backbone.

    No guts.

    No desire.

    No clue.

You have failed the squad, the board, the fans, but ultimately you have failed yourself.

It takes a real man to admit his downfall's.

    We await your admission...
