Yeah good luck to him. We never came close to getting the best out of him once Reidy went and the service dried up. Would love to have him back now - think he'd be filling his boots in our current side.
He is now injured for a few weeks after aggrevating his foot injury. Shame especially as they have Arsenal at weekend and I could see Big Chris giving them some problems (Gallas and Vermailan are not the tallest). He is not the best technically but imo will cause a lot of prem defences problems and will probs get the odd goal. All the best to him
"Chris Iwelumo's moment of magic proved the difference between the sides as Bristol City saw off fellow strugglers Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The striker, on loan from Wolves, struck a stunning volley on the turn from inside the area 17 minutes from time to settle a dour encounter" From BBC website

[cite]Posted By: Valley11[/cite]I really like Iwellumo and I didn't understand the flack he was getting from certain sections of our support when he was at The Valley.
I found him very frustrating. Gave away so many fouls. He was actually second on number of fouls given away in the entire league. At the time we were a club that wanted to get back to the Prem, he didn't seem good enough back then.
His size seemed to encourage us to play a long ball game. Turned out we did that anyway when he left, and it's even more ridiculous when you've only got Andy Gray and Luke Varney up front. What made it worse was the way Pardew said his teams always try and play good football.
Still only a fairly good, but not outstanding Championship player, but that's the sort of quality we'd like to see more of in our team now.
i liked him, thought he was best with the ball on the deck but we still kept playing long balls too him. would love him in the side if we go up, but cant see it happenning
He was dynamite last season for Wolves playing in a team supplied by 2 excellent Championship level wingers - Jarvis and Kightly. He wasn't quite the same when feeding off the scraps provided by Jerome Thomas and Darren Ambrose. Both Thomas and Sharon seem to have turned it round this season though.
It's quite interesting, and definitely annoying and depressing, to note players who seemed to blossom when they left the 2007/08/09 side.
Wonder why that happened? Perhaps Pardew's 'i couldn't stop the slide' comment had a fair bit of truth to it. Even he's gone on to do quite well at Saints.

He's done ok, but then they can afford players like Lambert who is one of the best strikers in the division. I'd say he's done what you'd expect at the very least with that sort of money to spend. Imagine if we could have brought in Lambert (or Holt as Norwich did).

I guess a lot of that is to do with the rest of the team. If the defence pass the ball out, and you have a good central midfield that can defend and create, the wingers get more of the ball to get crosses in, so you get the best out of someone like Iwelumo. We hoofed the ball up to him, he had no support, we didn't have a settled or strong midfield so he suffered. Same for Ambrose and Thomas really, they need a midfield to cover their weaknesses and defenders looking to pass the ball out.
tbf last night he won a lot of the balls that were played into him, but his finishing was abysmal, and he shinned a couple of efforts high and wide.
However his finish for the goal was superb, and if it had been scored by Rooney, you would have watched it on skysports for about the 100th time by now.
[cite]Posted By: Valley11[/cite]Budgie - what's the general consensus about Paul Hart?
A Palace season-ticket holder mate of mine is very unsure about him.
Seems a strange appointment to me but then again, beggars can’t be choosers I guess.
I think its generally the same as your mates, I look at him keeping Pompey up, and take some hope from that. Also with the return of Freedman, he knows a lot about the players there, and Pemberton has a good coaching background.
My main concern though, is with our games coming up thick and fast, there time on the training ground will be limited, and Harts style of play is very different to Warnocks, and so any changes will be difficult to enforce.
Hopefully the players we have will be good enough, but our squad size could cost us, as we are beginning to look jaded.
Iwelmulo missed the greatest sitter of all-time when he got called up for Scotland. Missed an open goal from 2 yards away. It was easier to score then miss at such a easy angle to score.

All the best to him
cos we're in a wank league and may not be able to afford his wages
Parky's made no secret of that.
Has he scored yet?

Think he got one against West Brom too
Henry was being ironic Thommo.
Now he's at Bristol City, our very own 'Agent Big Chris' - playing his part in "sending the Palarse down"
;o)

Henry Irving being ironic? Never
Oh I get it now
Fond memories of that game against Bristol City when he headed home Andy Reid's back post cross and celebrated in front of the away end.
Really hard working player with an eye for goal.
I guess he was the right man at the worng time for us. Would be great in the current team.

If Wolves stay in Prem, they wil probably try to sell him. Maybe he would come back, i would not object as think he is better than what we have.

Less abysmal than your strikers though, surely ;-)
