[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]Seems to me our leading scorer is being blamed for the lazy "hit it high and hope" of the rest.
If we are skint we won't get anyone better and Iwelumo has a part to play in a team of relative midgets.
I'd only let him go if we intend playing Bent M which we all know won't happen.
Well said learned Len
Without wanting to sound like a mini-curbs, he massivley helped out defensivley last season which senior Bent would not do. His work ethic counts for something surely??
10 goals with generally poor service, willingness to graft all day and play with injuries + right character on and off the park
= £2 milliion value in this league.
Bur he's nearly 30, a bit clumsy, not overly predatory and Scottish (not really his fault - only kidding!) = £1 million value.
£500k profit on him. another half a million on paying off the 5 million quid. once this 5 million pound has been found where does this leave the club financially.
I'm just wondering if we have just reached the point where we need to sell somebody and so there's three or four being lined up to go but if one of them, say Bonking Bent goes, then we will pull out of the others?
Murray is just playing the astute businessman ....... trying to ensure the figures add up and if they don't, debt is comfortably manageable without risk.
No manager likes to lose his best players but, Pards being a bit of a cattle trader, might just relish the opportunity to bring in fresh players.non-league strikers. ;-)
If Iwelumo does go it'll be a shame, he's a honest, hard working pro, but he isn't Prem class and he has a few limitations to his game. Gray for one should be a better all round forward.
But we signed him on a free - if we get some money for him then it's a bonus.
True. Good player for us. Maybe he suffered a bit because of his height, where our midfield just pumped long balls up to him even though he "has good feet for a big man". Without doubt he was a Parkinson signing.

I know Ipswich are also fairly interested at around 750k.

He is clearly desperate to beat us next season - that would be 3-0 for starters with Paddy Mac, Big Chris and Little Kev all scoring against us...
I'd be interested to hear what people would consider an acceptable price if we were to let him go?

So there you have it!

Soundsabout right ot me
safe ? still in the shi**er ?
No thanks, don't want his sloppy seconds : - )
Lol!! I'll re-phrase that. When Marcus goes, we won't go through with the player deals.
Hamstring niggle otherwise known as in transfer talks and soon to be off...which does rather beg the question about Andy Gray too!
Also Magic 'being tired for playing a couple of games for Algeria'
They certainly have Pards trained.

Good luck to the guy. Always gave 100% for us and was, IMHO, very unappreciated for what he did.
Fully agree
Congratulations Chris.
That was because we played to his weaknesses not strengths. A limited player in terms of ability, but you could never fault his attitude.
Indeed yet he still managed to be our top scorer.
No problems with Big Chris for me and I too wish him all the very best. Good pro.
