  • you have to watch what you say on here, it'll come back and bite you on the 'arris if you arn't careful.
  • I agree with Bible Tango done it maybe we could have tried harder BUT

Time to move on hopefully bigger and better things

    ITS IN THE PAST
  • you're right Large, because if i was particularly vindictive i would of used Bibble's quote from Jan 1st, weeks before we sold Reid:

"I have aready decided not to renew next season so after over 30 years of regularly watching Charlton I will save my time and money."

Bet he didn't tell them that on the phone, eh Bibs :-)
  • LOL. Now that is seriously funny.
  • blimey I'm glad I still renewed with BARTS on the case...
  • OOOOOOOOOH AFKA that's deep man

    Bibble you've been rumbled
  • Ledge i think there is a simple solution, dont get a season ticket, go to games as and when and wait for the bug to bite again, find the area of the ground that u like, then come christmas get yourself a half season ticket if u like what u see and where u would like to sit, as for the cllub i stated ages ago they would get no more than 15k season tickets and that i could see them only getting between 12k and 14k also this means the programme sales and merchandise will be alot lower generating less income than previous seasons, the club has to make a secision within the next few weeks that show the fans they are going for it and dig deep or just become an average club again,
  • [cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]i don't think pardew saying and being quoted on a number of occasions that andy reid had a gentlemans agreement with him to stay for the whole season and give us a whole season for a promotion push helped .... sometimes it's better to keep quiet

That's right up there with "we will be playing our way out of this division" in the top 10 of time Pardew should have kept his gob shut!!

That's a good plan WIWLB. Probably what I will be doing.
  • havnt had em on the phone but might be tempted to say "good idea this phone round pity you didnt do it when i was in the 3,000 crowd against halifax on a very wet Tuesday nite yonks back !"

  • WIWLB, thats what I will be doing, not commiting to a ST.

Oh dear AFKA, you need to get out more!! I changed my mind quite few times..renew not renew..ultimately it was the Reid sale that pushed me back into the not renewing camp. Also nice to see your not abusing your ownership of this MB. No wonder we are known as anoraks! Smiley thing on the end of message.
  • lol, its not 'abusing'. Anyone can see what anyone else has wrote in the past, its not just restricted to certain people. I've been caught out on it more than once.

I just found it funny you saying the reason you're not renewing is because we sold Reid, and then found you saying you're not going to renew a month before we sold Reid, and then again found after we sold Reid, you saying you're not renewing and giving five reasons why you won't (and none of them being about Reid). You my friend are a serial ranter !!

I'm honestly not bothered whether you renew or not. Of course i would prefer it if the ground was full, or close to full, but no one should fork out money just out of some sense of loyalty when they are not enjoying it, particularly if you have families who could put the money to better use elsewhere. You've been moaning for years on here and previously on NA that you don't enjoy it no more so i don't blame you for jacking it in. I just failed to see the Reid thing as the real reason why (we have always been a selling club) and then come accross evidence to support that.

You'll probably enjoy it more cherry picking games, though i'm 99% convinced already you will end up picking the wrong ones !

You're right i need to get out more though :-)
  • tell you what WIWLB that is a cracking idea.

    Never thought of that

Well that doesn't seem a bad commitment so far to me, bearing in mind there was a lot of disgruntlement (is that a word?) last season, and with prices going up everywhere round us, and people thinking a bit more about their spending maybe.
I thought it might be lower than the figures quoted, I was expecting more selective picking of games rather than the season ticket sales.
If we do well, it will pick up anyway.
By the way, anyone know a nice part of the Upper North where there are no nasty rough boys (or girls) who boo and call players names?
Well apart from opposition players, of course ;)
I would like to move from some of the uncouth elements in the Lower North who have no manners and who regularly swear and shout all sorts of untrue things about people in red shirts.
And somewhere where I can get out a thermos and my rug and no one will call me a lady front bottom :)
Seriously, from what people say on here, the Upper North is a mix of the faithful and the sceptic brigade. I know you get that anywhere, but are some bits better than others up there?
  • I think over 12k of straight sales, if that is correct, is doing well this early in the summer when the deadline for the freebie is August. That means a month and a half more sales time.

Traditionally there is a pattern of some fans renewing close the beginning of the season (presumably to defer the expense or because they are the sort of people who leave things to the last minute)

Also there will be other ST sales over and above the straight sales to punters such as commercial and corporate STs which were certainly included in the 17k+ figure last year so the figure may already be pushing 13 to 14k depending on how well those sales have gone.

Personally I think the phone call is a good idea. Some encouragement to renew as well as some market research. Doesn't sound like it was hard sell.
