[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]if they had rung me i would have said coz we were shite last year, maybe then they would have got the drift on what a complete load of bollo**s last season really woz.
If anyone else gets a call could they use this as their reason please. I'd love to know what the response would be....
Silence I expect! and then a dial tone?
Why? it's a valid reason for not committing to a season ticket!
I can understand renewals being low, for one major reason - so far there is nothing to indicate we will be doing any better than last year, indeed the team is arguably worse now than the one that started last year. Therefore the incentive of a free ticket will be somewhat hollow I would imagine. Couple that with a lot of folk now banking that tickets will be easier to come by.
Perhaps it will change if/when we address some of the issues and make a decent signing or two?

You're right it is a valid reason but I honestly don't think they would have an answer!
I had decided not to renew. Got sick and tired of sitting amongst the fickle fans of the North Upper then thought I'd move to north lower as i went there last game of the season and enjoyed the view etc plus of course it is cheaper. But I'm now undecided - part of me says renew and just turn up to games when I feel like it plus it's a free ST and having been an ST for nigh on 20 years I deserve something back from the club.
The other part says have a year or two off as bored of it - need the time for studying now I am near the end of my knolwedge time and spend more time with the kids.
Some of you can give me stick - AFKA's yellow belly splitter is a bit strong but I'll put that down to little man syndrome but I take his point -
oh FFS I don't know what to do. I intend to going to some games just don't want to fork out, hardly a kings ransom I know, for an ST and only go to about 8 games.
very similar story (except i am undecided) to me Ledge..

They need to call you back pronto and sort out your seat swap.
Perhaps they could also do a bring-a-friend-for-free-to-one-game (August/Sept) offer to all adult ST holders (excl. Palace) as an extra little enticement. And then make a ST offer to those "friends".
[cite]Posted By: leftbehind[/cite]Not as loyal as Norwich fans
in general, not as loyal as many a Clubs fans. We have a hardcore 12k in my opinion and the rest are supporters when we are in the PL or doing well. Fact of life. If we can get back to the PL and are able to consolidate there again then we could easily sustain a 35k stadium. Problem is that if we drop back down again we are stuffed. Either way I'd rather support the Addicks than anyone else as, in my opinion, relegation, promotion, seasons of joy, seasons of dispair are all part of being a football fan and I love it. Where the heck is the fun in supporting a team like Arsenal, not to experience relegation or promotion, boring. Ok, we were crap last season but at the end of the day 'so what'. Far, far worse things could (and do) happen as we have all felt elsewhere this summer. I'm afraid to say that Bill Shankly was actually wrong in what he said a few decades ago.
Here here, if you don't want to spend the money you are not a true fan. Stick with the Addicks through thick and thin (mostley thin it is your duty as a supporter.
we've got a small hardcore support fact.... who knows what it'll be if we have another 5 years of last seasons dross...... oh for the halcyon days of sir alan curbishley ...
If I'm happy in my seats but somebody else wants them I hope I have the right to keep my seats having been there a few seasons and got to know the people around us.
Can the Club turf us out if somebody "more marketable or whatever" wants the seats?
We have a New Regime now with Reg gone and Muzza stepping back so I don't think the question is unfounded.

It's not a case of not wanting to spend the money often it's not being able to afford the money!
I've renewed by the way but probably shouldn't have done financially!

I guess I will have to out myself as not being a "true fan" then.
I would sooner go to fewer games, save some hard earned and actually enjoy the day than feel compelled to go to every game because I’ve paid out for a season ticket, and spend the whole time moaning as some seem to do.
Fcuk Curbs, he is the reason I stopped renweing in the first place (after 19 years), renewed again last season and am looking forward to watching the youngsters this season.
Arf, once the fixtures are out it will sink in, renew to make sure you get the seats you want, my boy loves it in the lower north, some good seats to be nicked on them swap days.
Just had them call, asked why I was not renewing, my reply, "we sold our best player last season, no ambition, after we sold him we we dire'. She said, 'thats not the first time I've heard that'. BTW 13,000 STs sold.

oh what a fantastic decision that was not by Pards may I add.
Where is our ambition? Ive heard all the words, No actions though. We signed a nobody from our rivals and everyone is supposed to get a hard on. BTW the orange fool held on to Andy Johnson when Prem clubs came calling, why could we not hold on to our best player? Sorry cant ignore the sale of Reid as the major factor in our loss of form last season, and ultimate failure.

Everyone is on holiday, which is why virtually no deals in English football have been announced. This was only announced because he was out of contract.

And we got nearly £17m for our best player, in what is now seen as one of the sales of the century, DOUBLE what he got for Johnson.
As for Reid, you clearly cannot see the reasons why we had to do the deal so there is no point explaining.
Where you spout 'no ambition', others will see 'doing what we can to stay out of administation'. It is a necessity of life that when you drop out the prem you have to sell because there is such an unsustainable gap between wagebills between the two leagues. What you want is recklessness, not ambition.
I don't know why you didn't just tell them truth, that you haven't really enjoyed going for a few years now, and now seems a good time to lose the committment, rather than rant down the phone to someone a. just doing their job, and b. trying their best to boost our crowds.
if we were Luton we'd have about twenty of us left at the moment. I have never, ever and will never, ever even stop to contemplate for one second whether I'm going to renew next season. All this no ambition, sold our best player bollocks, who cares, shit happens, I'll still be there come rain or shine.

I don't think the Reid thing has been 'effectively' explained/defended - hence there may well be a large number of fans out there who do think it was an unambitious act.

Thanks AFKA, next time I need an opinion I will ask you for it.
FYI, I did not rant, I was asked my reasons, My main reason is Reid, as is many others it would seem. OK I have not enjoyed it for a while, but that is not the main reason.
i don't think pardew saying and being quoted on a number of occasions that andy reid had a gentlemans agreement with him to stay for the whole season and give us a whole season for a promotion push helped .... sometimes it's better to keep quiet
Most of the season tickets sold last year were sold by the end of May due to the free ST offer expiring at the end of May, this year that offer is extended till end of August so there will be a continual trickle and I would expect us to finish up with 14 - 15, 000.
Palace were able to keep Johnstone because they were relegated whilst still having a championship set up and probably championship contracts with the majority of their players. Palace have never lasted more than a season in the Prem and therefore have always been able to maintain a championship set up, we on the other hand stayed for almost a decade and had a premiership infrastructure which is why our finances were devastated by our drop and we had top lose out top players.

How does the seat swap work?

Time to get over the Reid sale me thinks

Don't blame me for your inconsistency !!
Two months ago when asked if you were renewing, these were you're reasons for 'a big fat NO':
We are crap
Too many Tuesday games
Atmosphere is a joke
Lost interest in football
Cancelled Sky etc
Five reasons, and none of the ones you said to the club just a few weeks later.
