I can see Pards calling it a day!!!

If the season just peters out like a cheap old firework i can see AP calling it a day in the summer. With the new board coming in, the discontent on this and numerous other boards the players body language, taking into account the amount of money he has spent as well as the poor run we have hit over the last few months i think he will go away in the summer have a long hard think about his situation and come back with one conclusion. I know i will get alot of stick about my thoughts but i just think looking at his body language lately compared to when he first came to the club you would think its not the same man. He used to be jumping up and down, urging the team on, arguing with the ref, he was more of a fan than a manager, now he just stands there like a clone of Mervyn Day. I dont doubt he is a good manager, but i think certain things havent gone his way, questions maybe are being asked about him and he is picking up on that, and the sale of Andy Reid he may have questioned. Just lately he has had a run with Varney (Reg), publically criticised the following of the away fans (rightly or wrongly) and now he has gone from someone who used to have his name consistantly sang at all games to a manager whoose teams are now being booed of the pitch!!!!!

  • I like Pardew. But i do sometimes get the impreesion that he feels he's a bit above our level.
Don't want him to go but it Wouldn't suprise me if he left.
  • Maybe he's not keen on the party song.
  • he aint happy down there
  • think you could be right
  • I thinbk he belived he would kep us up and since then everything has been a dissapointment to him. I reckon he'll stay till another job comes up or he is eased out as I don't think it will do his reputation any good leaving a sinking ship.
  • I think you are right Kap- and he's being well paid.
  • Don't think we can afford to keep him once the parachute money runs out anyway - so if an offer comes in for his services we should accept and take the compensation money

Probarbly didnt want Reid to be sold.

The Daily Express says that charlton directors see him as too cocky and are ready to fire the bulliet. Whether that is true or not.

Lets face it all senior directors like yes men !!!.

im fully behind Pards he will turn us around if given a chance.

oooooh I can see us doing a Southampton I hope im wrong. Please feel free to bolloc me :-)
  • you are probably right WIWALT - then we can get a 2nd rate manager in then really give reams and co something to moan about.

Pardew has been here before folks remember at West ham the boards were full of Pardew out he aint good enough and he tuffed it out he got them to a final in year 1 and then promoted via the final the next year.

I understand that we are not west Ham but they moan louder than us and he knew that he was in for a tough time with them when he failed to go straight up,

Also i think a lot of Pardew haters are doing the man a dis-service he always played well for us i thought yes he never emulated what he did at Palace and he and i believe him said that he always had a place for Charlton in him

i am sure he was pleased to have played apart in the rebuilding of the club i also think he is stubborn enough and proud enough not to be beaten by this task.

I hope he stays i dont care if i was in a minority of one in my mind he has all the credentials of the type of manager i would want to manage Charlton.

Not so long ago i bet alot of you all thought that if Curbs left you wouldnt have minded giving Pardew ago at managing us, I still stand by the fact that i dont think we have given him long enough.

  • He likes West Ham though nla - he doesnt like us! ;-)
  • Do you believe that though really,

have i got him well wrong :-)
  • As a player for us I'd put him in the Ambrose mould - he scored a few important goals, but never a real hero.
I do remember him saying Charlton weren't a big enough club for him as a manager when he was still at Reading.
I was pleased when he was appointed - had to be better than where we were, but so far he has flattered to deceive.
I'd trust the Board's judgment (the CAFC one not this one!) at the end of the season on whether he should stay or go.
  • He won't be sacked, that's for sure
  • If the Daily Diana...sorry Express is correct with the rumour of Pardews demise who's the next poor sod going to be then?
  • again, when he took the West Ham job, the charlton job was mentioned (not sure why as curbs was manager) and he more or less said we were not a big enough club for him.

God i wish i coudl find that quote but i remember cockney addick kicking up a stink about it at the time.
  • I wouldnt be surprised at all if he wasnt here next season. He has got very high aspirations as a manager but to be honest I cant see where he would go next to achieve these ?.

His football heart is still at West Ham.
  • NLA i am certainly not a Pardew hater, all i stated was that there are alot of things going againest him and i think that he will walk aaway from it in the summer, he strikes me as someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and i for one would not be shocked if i turnt on the tv to hear he had quit he is just that type of person, same as Keegan, i was also pointing out that the new chairman may have his own ideas, are the palyers believing in him anymore, as they dont seem the same sort of players as they were earlier, are they questioning his methods or team selections/ are the loan players thinking what the hell have i come here for, i am not even playing, formations are constantly being changed, Lita is probably thinking to himself why am i playing as a lone striker and getting balls hoofed up to me?????
  • Many times I've seen references to Mr Pardew's ego. I was always uncomfortable with that part of his personality when he was at West Ham and at various times enjoyed seeing him (and that club) humbled.

However, when he joined Charlton, I thought (and still think) that his ego could be just what the club, being eternally humble, needs. I think that he could provide a balance, provided that he has learnt lessons in man management from his time with the bling boys at the Hammers, where his ego provides a bit of belief and edge to the Club and team, and our work and community ethics provide a grounding to his sense of self-belief. I think given time, it could all still work out in that way.
  • He ain't going no-where, he'll only move if someone 'Takes' him from us, namely a club bigger than Charlton.

  • surely getting us untill the playoffs is not to hard for him? he can go if he fails that.
  • Would love to see these quotes about us and if he turned uop at one of these meetings ask him why come to us now?
  • I'm a big Pardew fan personally and hope he stays whatever happens this season as I still believe he's the best person for the job..
  • I'm a big Pardew fan for the reasons that Lookie outlined
  • look get us in the top six and give us a chance, anything else is pure failure,no other way at looking at it,this two year bollocks,do what your paid to do.
  • If the rumours about why he left West Ham are true, then that still worries me, as it would help explain why the players don't always seem to have that much respect for him.
  • hes safe,no one is going to touch him anyway, struggling in the championship with the red hot favourites to go straight up,who would want him.
  • He is by far the best manager we can hope for at the moment.

I also fail to see how we was 'red hot favourites' this year, with almost an entirely new team.
  • bookies had us favourites, get in the top six at least, excuses excuses.
  • His star isn't shining quite so bright at the moment... we were favorites to go up and have the one of the biggest budgets to spend this season. He has the biggest squad in the league yet is sitting in 9th place and to outsiders not doing the greatest job. What makes you think that anyone will want him? On another note all that above is more likely to spur the bloke on to sort things out...
