  • That is a great signing if only for his pace alone to stretch defences. His first touch ain't the best but at least he will be hungry.

I doubt he will get the service but you'd hope he'd put himself about.

Just seen SUPERKEV running 60 yards then poping it in.

    *slashes wrists*
  • Just had a text from a mate to say its a done deal. Cant find anything to confirm this though
  • Its a done deal.

Hahaha just recieved a text from a fellow addick

"Leroy Lita - if it moves sign it"
  • Smudge and H

    Just call me Harry Harris

any chance you boys could get Shelvey on the subs Bench
  • Regarding the serice, Cook is a good crosser, Sam and Sinclair can get round the back, Varney can lay off well, yeah, not worried, Lita is gonna be a very useful addition. Well done nth london addick, cracking scoop.
  • Lita will give us a striker who plays off the centte halves he is quick and potent at this level in front of goal

Great addition i just hope Pards see last night we need central midfield support on the bench
  • Yeah thats some scoop alright. Not heard a sniff of this one from anywhere else.

Maybe a little early for JJ. I hear that Pardew wanted him to train with the first team on Monday but he was at School : - )

  • Good deal, liked the lad. Lets hope he can restart our scoring run
  • Let's hope he can withstand the pressure of being our season's great striking hope better than McLeod and Gray have done.
  • Impressed with the signing as he's done it at the top level.
My side for Preston would be:

442 - Weaver, Halford, Sodje, McCarthy, Youga, Ambrose, ZZ, Holland, Sinclair, Varney, Lita.

For those who've questioned Sinclair on another thread, need to remember this is a kid who is 18 and has started games for Chelsea so he can't be a mug. Thomas has no end product so needs to drop to the bench.
  • Don't know if Magic is going to be fit but I would put him back in and I'd be tempted to put Samedo in the midfield as well.

I guess Lita would start but difficult to say who should play up with him. Varney maybe too similar but would give us two players with pace, Gray looks lacking in confidence, Iwelumo has done OK and might be a good foil for Lita.

Sinclair didn't impress when he came on but I'm hoping/praying there is more to come from him.

Agree about Semedo as Holland could maybe do with a rest but he's been brilliant for us recently. I actually think Varney is decent in the air and can certainly hold the ball up so i'd have no problem with those 2 together. Lita did well with Doyle last year and he's not exactly a huge targetman. And Varney did well with Maynard at Crewe and he's quite short and quick.
There will surely be more to come from Sinclair, as i said you don't get starts for Chelsea if you're not up to it.
  • Good point on Varney.

I was expecting more from Sinclair but maybe that is me putting too much on him. He came on late when the other side were well on top.
  • For me Sinclair did more than Cook, but what was the point of him coming on with a few minutes of normal time left?
  • For me we have looked at our most promising with Varney and Mcleod ( i know that mcleod didnt score) we scared defenders with pace we passe the ball fantastically for me it would be

    Weaver

    Halford
    Macarthy
    Sodje
    Youga

    ZZ
    Holland
    Ambrose
    Thomas

    Varney
    Lita

    subs

    Elliot
    Gibbs
    Shelvey
    Iwellumo

There is something not right with Gray the ruck with Varney at the end showed that
  • Sinclair looked like Thomas on a bad day...

Everyone had a touch of Jason Euell's about them last night (i.e no control)

(he scored last night as well)
  • i thought thomas looked quite good yesterday skinned their full back a cou-ple of times and then they doubled up on him.

Good call on Gibbs but why only 4 subs. Not as if we don't have a big enough squad. : - )

Shelvey is too young IMHO. If it was a dead game maybe

Didn't see the Varney/Gray row. What was all that about?

I agree i thought he had a good game - but - like usual - there was no end product. It really does baffle me how we can't get a decent cross in the box.

Varney is our best crosser of the ball when he gets to the byline and cuts back. Unfortunately, he should be in the box scoring those cutbacks - not making them himself.
  • Didnt realise i missed a sub i would proberly have Sinclair in their also

Varney and Gray had to be pulled apart last night heading off the pitch was arguing virtually from 5 mins till the end of the game.

Varney was fuming at how easily City were winning headers towards the end i dont know if this was all it was about.

i do think Shelvey is a tad young but 20 mins at the end of a home game against a team that we should beat could be right up his street

Whilst he is undoubtedly a top prospect, it's definitely too soon for him. Anyone who went to the Sunderland youth game last week will tell you that.
  • i was there mate but the 2 games previous and his performance at the weekend says he could do 20 mins at this level
  • Believe me, he couldn't. Not yet.

Suprised the Lita signing hasn't made more impression. This is a player who just twleve months ago was being touted for England reckoning.

Any particular reason for the apathy ?

Although impressed AFKA - i just don't think its going to make the difference to a final position. It's too late for that. If it was announced on Jan 31st then maybe.

After last night i think our AP chances have gone - we could sign Ronaldo and it wouldnt make any difference. Its not a points thing - its a games thing. If WBA win they game in hand then we are 8 points off. That basically means that if WBA/BC win 6/7 of their last games and lose 4/3 then we need to win all of ours!

Hoepfully he'll play a big part in guaranteeing our place in the play-offs and the three games that follow the end of the season.
  • there have been plenty of rumours about this man and his behaviour, lets hope that he is hungry and wants to prove himself to both steve coppell and anyother managers who may want him, i am quite happy for us to be used as a stepping stone if it helps us.

Only worry i have is that initially its for a month and he may not be match fit

Nothing against him, i think it's a great signing. Maybe it's just the general feeling hitting home after last night that we're not good enough. If we signed Eto'o or Henry on loan it still wouldn't get us promoted as the problem is getting service to our strikers. We've got 4-5 decent wingers and how many decent crosses can you remember were put into the box last night?
  • Not sure what to make of the Lita signing, when he played against Man Utd recently he gave Ferdinand & Vidic no end of problems. Will be interesting to see who Pards plays with him. Personally I think Charlton are pulling out all the stops to try to go up & this signing is more proof of that, if we don't go up it won't be for the want of the Board trying that's for sure.
