Elliott kept us in the match at points on saturday and the goal was more like bad lick than anything
Probably best off keeping your opinions to yourself I think[/quote]
Yes, no views on a forum! Keep them to yourself please.
Elliott has made mistakes but has saved far more than hes cost us. He probably could do with a more experienced keeper, like a Kiely, to work with to improve his concentration levels.

each to their own buckshee but i saw elliot make one great save on saturday and that was after his inability to deal with the ball looping bar off the crossbar and i suppose he can carry on making mistakes forever cos he is a charlton fan/inexperienced keeper whatever .... i just don't rate him still we might be lucky enough to hold on to him in the window!!
I feel completley safe with rob in goal as we did with deano, randolph is erractic do think if rudolph goes in jan would be good for robbo to get a 35ish plus gk in to give him some advice and guidance as we don't have that to offer at the mo.
I know you went to the match, but the view is just as clear on the BBC highlights ...... the Stockport player lumped a hit and hoper into the box, it wasn't a cross and it wasn't even a shot, just purely agricultural - it deceived all his own players, plus the Charlton defence en mass and Elliot; the ball hit the post and ricochetted off Elliot's chest and in before he had the slightest chance of reacting.
Just a fluke. No keeper could have humanly reacted in time.
I think elliot is quality but weaver would be a quality back up, also may even challenge for first choice which would be good
Although i dont mind DR dont think he is ever capable of being our no1, so would rather realease him and have weaver back then we have a two really good keepers to chose from and its up to them to make the shirt their own
If Weaver wouldn't accept The Championship wages we offered him, I'm damn sure he won't be accepting League 1 wages.I doubt he'd want to move back South as well.
Elliot is only going to benefit from a full year under his belt, stick him in the reserves and he'll go nowhere meaning neext season if we get promoted we'll need an experienced keeper to cope with a higher level of play and Elliot won't be ready. Sure he makes a few mistakes and his handling/command of the area need to improve but he's on the right path.
Elliot has not yet reached 50 games for the club, keepers usually don't peak till late 20's early 30's. He has shown great promise and only going to get better. Also people talk of his lack of commanding the area- Weaver did not come and claim a cross in his last year with us! Elliots handling generally has been fine, at Stockport he was fouled when they hit the bar! The goal was a complete fluke if you ask me

I have no bad feeling towards rob atall and would much rather him between the sticks than nicky any day of the week. The goal at Stockport was a bit of a fluke but i think all keepers are going to make errors at sum point.

[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]i heard on talksport yesterday that he has been released by dundee utd cos they had signed a permanent keeper , also that he had been in good form for them and that he had been playing for a small wage (doesn't seem to add up but that's what they said).....
Stockport's goal was one of those flukes that go against you sometimes, it just floated into exactly the spot that he could not reach, not much he could have done really.
In addition, some of the refs in this league seem to allow a lot more physical contact with keepers than they do in the Prem/CCC, Elliott has taken a real battering on several occasions this year when going for a high ball.
I like Elliot, promising keeper with a great attitude. I prefer him to Weaver. Don't like Weaver much, probably a left over from the Man City baiting of our fans. Never warmed to him but he is not a bad keeper. Weaver will probably end up at palace after they sell Speroni.
if we do go up then he's worth a shout,as i think the championship is about the right level for him. he'd certainly wouldn't have any trouble down here with the less able strikers on show.
To be fair, he had done pretty weel for them until the 7-1, saw many of the goals he conceded on sky and unlike when he was with us, not many were his fault. He could end up at another League 1 club, maybe more his level
As much as I rate Elliot highly and think he could be a mainstay in our side for years. Elliot is not the best kicker (nor was Deano) and Elliot flaps a fair bit too. I was not Weavers biggest fan but I don't think there is much difference between Elliot and him.

Weaver? No thanks.

In my view Elliot is excellent at the level we are at and has the potential to play in the Championship or even Premiership.
I hope it is with us.

He's not going to get that chance at Charlton, so Parky said Randolph deserves to get a chance elsewhere.

his final match was the other day where he let 1 in but 7 sounds better ....
Right ..... my mistake.
runs like a robot
glued to his line
can't jump
flaps at crosses
crap kicking
he is a spent force - good luck and all that but I never rated him and still don't
He would never come back anyway.
as for flapping I'll admit he isn't perfect but he does have 8or 9 years on weaver to improve that

But is that pic not Robbie?
for a few of months anyway :-)
