[cite]Posted By: browny[/cite]Just seen the highlights on ssn and i think if it wasn't for Weaver we would of lost tonight, maybe that point will be crucial.......
But they only showed one save of his. Admittedly it was a cracker, but you can't really say that based on 20 seconds of highlights can you?
I saw "the 1 save" but also radio commentary said he made several more and if you listen to ssn properly they said "he made a string of great saves".So yes,i can say that!
[quote][cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]I had someone next to me at Scunthorpe who was deadly serious that Weaver was a shocking keeper, and was at fault for every goal conceded.

I used to sit near a pratt in th back row N block like that, one of the many stupid things about him that made us move
Just back from a couple of days with friends in Sheffield. Not seen highlights on TV, went to the game instead. The save before half time was save of the season for me. The Owls supporters I was with reckon the one in the second half was special too, but it was up the other end so didn't get such a good view of that. I think Weaver has improved in recent weeks, but then so has the defence generally. He seems far more confident coming for crosses now.

Mr Weaver has agreed to be our next guest at City Addicks. Getting a date tho is a different matter - will be back with one soon. Hopefully this message will remind someone to get their ruddy finger out.
Hopefully nicky will drag another team mate along.

Well done B - i can imagine him be excellent banter
[cite]Posted By: carly burn[/cite]Not one for digging people out,but i've just seen the second goal and i've gotta say i've seen more agile sacks of spuds.
Very Harsh Carly - I don't think there's a keeper in all four divisions that would have saved that! But I do agree as in other posts that we could have put someone on the post ala Curbs days!
Weaver is not the worst player we have - but he's also prone to mistakes - we all remember two pearlers he had for Man City against us.
As a team bottom of the table, we have more problems - but I still think he could and should have saved it. Essex_Al you need to see the replays to see how poor his positioning and his ability to get across the goal really is.
But - I'd worry about other areas first than G/K - he's ok, nothing more
It's not a question of agility, it was to do with position, he was right over by his right hand post. The free kick was simply too far out for any keeper to say "the wall's got that side, I'll take the other", there was simply too much room for a player to get it up over the wall and down again. If his starting position is 2 yards closer to the centre of the goal it's a routine save.
On his (lack of) movement, how fit was Weaver last night? He ambled to his goal after the pre-match handshakes, and seemed to move 'carefully'. The hopeless scramble to chase Fox's free-kick was surely Sunday-league 'competence'? There also seems to be erratic communication with his defenders......and then there's the succession of hopeful/hopeless high punts with clearance kicks.....

Can imagine it now.

This is the benefit of a settled defence.

Ask him to bring along ZZ and you could get him pissed on half a shandy
