Does anyone drink in 'The Valley' pub?

Just done a search on beerintheevening.com and came across this place.

Not being from them parts I never knew about it.

As the Oak will probably be a nightmare I might give it a go, any recommendations?

  • God, I spent my informative years in there. Was most probably in there nearly every day from the age of 16 until 22 ish Havent been in there for ages now but it holds great memories as it was also the pub my late Dad drank in and I used to sit in the gardens with the obligatory coke and a packet of crisps. Also used to have an off licence between the two bars which I ran many errands to.
  • Was our favourite of my crowd when we first returned, was popular then but drifted away other the years.

Haven't been in there for a long time now, and have heard it has gone badly downhill, though don't know myself.
  • what gone more downhill than the oak,not forgettin it is all downhill to the ground
  • Used to about until about 2 years ago, went a bit punchy, pitbulls running around and a few villans bossing the bar, knocked it on the head after that.
  • Got barred sorry havent been back since Leicester at home in the cup a few years back
  • Forgot all about this place have not been in there for years

I used to drink in there when we first went back to the valley when Phil who now runs the Pilot in Greenwich had the pub, then John took over and when he left it went downhill and i've only been in there a few times in the last 7-8 years,i've heard it's a bit of a pit now.

Phil was a great bloke - no idea what it is like these days
  • I dont think Phil has the Pilot anymore - if im thinkng of the right bloke. The Pilot was sold to Fullers.
  • I drink in there before the game. It's grotty as you like, very dingy and needs a damned good makeover.

However, the lager is looked after and no queues for the bar either. Which is all I'm after for a few pints before the game.

If they spent some money doing it up, I think loads more people would use it on a match day.
