Much Ado About Nothing as Shakespeare wrote; it's just a general insult.
In my opinion Wheels on The Bus is a far worse song to sing to Palace fans because one of their fans was actually killed by a bus (coach). I wonder how many of our youngsters who sung that song were aware of that at the time and if they were aware would they still have sung it?
I work with a staunch Millwall fan and even he thought they crossed a line back in the 80s when some of them sung "Did The Ripper f*** your Mum" when they played Leeds.
Mind you one persons bullying is another persons good natured horseplay.
everyone has different lines to draw... i find that ripper song hilarious, especially at scum fans such as leeds, but i would also accept that many would find that offensive

Leeds along with Liverpool have sung songs about runways and ice for years.
The family song is banter and does not come close to songs about Munich, Aushwitz etc. I lived in Amsterdam for a while, when Ajax played at Feyenoord the Feyenoord fans would hiss to mimic the gas that was released in the gas chambers at the concentration camps during WWII. This is something to get upset about, not a song that has no real meaning.
[cite]Posted By: Medders[/cite]"and he kept it on proudly in the very intimidating atmosphere in the streets near the ground afterwards"
I didn't go, but was it really that bad last night?
I can genuinely say that it was the most worried I'd been after a match in years. As someone else said, most fans just got on the coaches directly outside the ground but for those of us that drove, the stewards just opened a gate, wished us luck and let us walk straight into the angry mob. Never known such a moody, horrible bunch of people. Was very glad to get back to the car in one piece...
I didn't notice anything going off. I managed to go out of a different exit from the one I came in and blended into the crowd, and walked across the railway bridge and off to the car.
i think a practical solution is to, boot the rozzers out of the police box in the corner & install Richard in there with a giant church organ
every time a foul & offensive song starts up, Richard could start playing his massive organ with nice hymns like "The Lord is my shepherd" or "Kum-by-a" - further anyone found singing rude words to these songs should be escorted out by stewards
I think the real reason Richard is gettin upset is that he managed to pull a bit of skirt, and decided to take her to a Charlton match as he is a real casanova. She heard some choice words being sung and he is now worried he won't get nuts in.
But it has taken about a year for that incest song to catch on at home and I've heard other fans singing it for at least a decade. Imagine how long it will take for the others to even become audible.
Pride of London is one of my favourites and tragicaly under-used
Personally don't like the incest song or the use of the C word but accept that is part of football. What I find odd at times is that an away crowd can spend more time 'fan goading' rather than getting behind the team. For those that wear colours this can cause probs for those who go out into the opposition masses post match wheresas those doing the chanting often are without colours and are not targetted. I guess you could call this getting older in my younger days I too was probably a fan goader!! As erudite Len says we all have different standards doesn't make RR right or wrong he like the rest of us has an opinion an benefit of a free society that allows opinions to be aired
This is unbelievable! Will we see a thread about the naughty boys who shout and swear after every single game?
With regard to that song, I don't join in because I think it's crap but people who don't like to hear swear words or witness goading of oppo fans should not go to football. End of. As for suggesting stewards enforce a pre-agreed set list. What planet are these people on???
[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]I taught my six year old what goes at football stays at football. He once told his Grandad when asked what goes at football stays at football
"What was the score, then?"
"What goes on at football, stays at..."
Hehehe!
Yeah, the "pondlife" thing about Palace was funny. I wondered what he expected from what was always going to be a bit of a chaotic fixture...
He was the bloke who The Sunday Times ran a huge article on tracking his life as a kid and saying that he was plucked from a village in Africa spotted by a scout playing keepy-up with a coconut. True story.
I think he started his career at Orient, played for Fulham too.

and have the shit kicked out of them
In this division we should only sing it at Ipswich, Norwich, Palace, Plymouth and Cardiff.
Sing it everywhere and it becomes tedious.
Whats the betting that 'your grounds too big for you' will get sung at every away match now?
As for Mr Reddden, I dont know him, but hasnt he always been a moany old goat?

Sung @ Sheffield Wednesday Away 199?
Greatest Charlton Song EVAH IMHO.
and yet it only ever gets an airing by the people richard deems 'undesirables' and a smattering of others

BOOOUUUGEEEEEEERRRAA
But it's sung at 180BPM, I blame all the dance music the kids are listening to
Who does this self-righteous tosspot think he is - our moral guardian?
(he's not, we all know that's AFKA's role)
"Pond Life" as Addickted said was another description that RR used. Addickted did pick him up on it as did Inspector Sands.
If any one has never met or seen RR in action do come to a Bromley Addicks meeting where he normally makes at least one such contribution.
Next meeting is December Parky and Robbo. Date to be confirmed.
I really don't think that's a good idea Henry, thanks all the same!
