Accept that I wouldn't take my son on a school night but wouldn't (generally) worry otherwise. As far as the swearing is concerned, I think going to football with your Dad is one of the most fantastic bonding experiences there can be. I haven't got a lot in common with my old man except that he made me and then at 8 years old introduced me to Charlton and him and I accompanied each other to games for 30 years. The day he took me to one side and told me in no uncertain terms that the things you hear in a football ground stay in a football ground I remember very clearly. I have had the same conversation with my 7-year old.
I will not swear in front of him or sing rude or intimidating songs but we are in a football ground not a church.
Oh and please can we have some new songs, for the players, for the team, anything except dur, dur, dur or c-a-f-c, jeez oh and south london has never been full of t#ts and f@nny, that's probably why most of the lads who sing it don't even bloody live there.
we are the pride of all london, the kings of the south, we hate the palace, cos they are all mouth, the addicks will rise and the eagles will fall, cos we are the charlton, the pride of them all..
weeee aarrre the.. pride of all london.......... etc etc
I really think this song should be kept to places or opposistion where it is actually relevent. IE Norwich, Ipswich and Gillingham. Otherwise it just loses it's effect.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Addickted[/cite]I think Richard is spot on and our pond life should stop singing this song.
Cant wait to start Baaaaing when we play Cardiff though.[/quote]
hope your being sarcastic about 'pond life' and that muppet being spot on... if so then apolagies...if not then climb out your fecking arse you boring numpty
[quote][cite]Posted By: Medders[/cite]"and he kept it on proudly in the very intimidating atmosphere in the streets near the ground afterwards"
I didn't go, but was it really that bad last night?[/quote]
I can genuinely say that it was the most worried I'd been after a match in years. As someone else said, most fans just got on the coaches directly outside the ground but for those of us that drove, the stewards just opened a gate, wished us luck and let us walk straight into the angry mob. Never known such a moody, horrible bunch of people. Was very glad to get back to the car in one piece...
[cite]Posted By: Airman Brown[/cite] All we can do is say that all of us have to rub along together and accept that we are different and may have no more in common than support for Charlton, until when we find the tipping point where the vast majority of us find something unacceptable and show what we think. I doubt if this is it.
that is the key point.
We have a mix of fans but the vast majority of us know the difference between right and wrong. And the vast majority of us have no qualms of speaking out and reacting with a group when we believe something to have gone too far. I think people should be grateful and proud of that, and realistic enough to know this song isn't it.
i must have missed that then HandG, they were there and clearly after us on the other side of the fence but i and others walked through fine as they had scattered beforehand, mostly spotty sixteen year olds in black gloves and XL coats who were content to give it behind a row of police and stewards

Our songs have always been woeful and I thought the Palace Family song was a good un for us to be honest.
Agree

That's because they keep them indoors.
Still if it stops him going on and on and on about the centenary party I suppose it's a blessing.
