Hi Dreamboy- great to have another articulate away fan on here. :-)
One thing Pards hasn't allowed is the big time charlie act's, to be honest very few of out current team played in the prem ( well for us) and i think we accept that we may well be seen as a big scalp so the "big time mentality" is less liekly to have a bearing than a "unstable" centre back paring.
Hope you enjoy your trip darn sarf, well except for the scoreline anyway. ;-)
Yeah I am looking forward to some good food and drink before the game. I am impressed you sold some good players and replaced them by giving lower lower league inexperience like Varney a chance. My mate who's grandad I mention in the first post, he's a diehard West Ham fan and he loves Curbs being in charge. Wasn't such a fan of Pardew though. With it being London, can I expect a good surrounding area of the ground? Or is there precious little to do?
Looked at the map and it doesn't mention a nearby chippy, KFC or Burger King. It would be Maccy Ds brought up booooo haha. Didn't realise that you're that close to the Millenium Dome (will always be that to me).

There are two chippies, one in Floyd road on the way from the station to the away entrance and one opposite the Liberal club just up the hill from the station.
There is another opposite the Cherry Orchard estate but only me and Len Glover know about that one.
Sorry, but that's laughable. How can three wins and a draw out of four games at home be considered "not great" home form?
Sure, we haven't played any of the pacesetters at home yet, but that's not our fault - blame the fixtures computer. You can only beat what's in front of you after all.
I'm starting to like this place, as you know your fish and chip shops. A great way to fill up before a great afternoon of football. Good to know there's a pool table in your away friendly pub. Might have to go in and play a couple of games.
dreamboy dont eat in the floyd road one, its cack apparently and has big queues. go to the one up charlton church lane...
if you're coming out of the antigallican, walk up dont take the left turn into floyd road but keep walking up and its on the right hand side of the road.
best chips are in charlton village but not worth walking that far!
So the chippy to go to is across road straight in front of Antigallican, up on the right? So when I go there first, when I leave and look to my left I should see the pub down the hill?
sorry mate, there's no pool in the antigallican on match days as it gets too packed, the tables are boarded and pushed to the side...
however, i hope you enjoy the place, an away only pub, right next to the station and a 5minute walk to the ground, you don't get that everywhere!
plus it's just had a big summer refurb so it's actually quite alright inside (again a novelty) - and you've got it before the likes of cardiff, burnley and probably the stripey scum smash it up
There's a couple of kebab shops just on the corner and a cafe - sorry, caff - as well. There's also a chinese if you fancy a sit down. Spoilt for choice really.
yes thats its. you wont actually see it but the pub is down there on the opposite corner.
You can also get a drink in the Liberal club (opposite chippy) as thats home and away for a quid entry. but the Anti is mainly away and as leaburnscores say, just been done and it has some very good large screens showing games.
just keep to the antigallican (by the station) or rose of denmark (turn left at the main junction when the antigallican is on your right) and the liberal club up the hill is alrightish as long as you keep a bit low profile but and you'll have a trouble free day out no problems.
wouldn't recommend straying into any other locals, particularly the horse and groom under no circumstances!
if i was you i'd stick to the anti, especially if you're there in good time... closest to the station, ground and chippy, probably the nicest inside, decent range of drinks, redone and huge TVs
Shame about the pool table. Always nice to have a game like that and I wouldn't have thought we would have many in there. Our London Tykes will be in there early doors mind haha. Sounds like I will be spoilt for choice for drink and how does the pub know it's only away fans in? Bet there's some home banter in there all good natured of course.
it's just accepted that there won't be any charlton in there, we've no interest in drinking in a pub where we wont all be. Your guaranteed to do whatever you like in there, colours, have a singsong, whatever, there won't be any of us there!
if you're after a bit of banter and football chat with some charlton, pop down to the Rose of Denmark, always very mixed, bit older generation/family, never any bother
p.s. your accent will probably give it away anyway!
A ci thi lata and how's tha goin mi towd duck will probably give it away. Thanks for the heads up about the flat cap. I do actually own one and last match of last season away at WBA they tried to get all away fans to wear one for "fancy dress".
Dreamboy, how's Odejayi playing for you lot? He was in my class at school. He lived just down the road from charlton in woolwich dockyard. Had great pace but not much else back then, has he improved?

Very happy with him thanks mate. Usually with a striker you have someone tall and strong, with someone short and quick. Well Ode has the full package. He's strong and damn fast and his goal at home the other week to get off the mark showed it all. He's finding goals hard to come by, but he puts himself about really well and the goals will come.

Apart from the streets which are paved with gold. Be careful as they get very slippery when it rains.

by the way the map is too crowded by charlton.

because they don't let anyone in without a flat cap
