Correct, replaced by TC after 37 mins because he was being terrorised by a certain R ApterWeegie Addick said:
Blackpool maybe?Sword65pf said:

Who was on that wing for Soton? Assume this means they'll sign for us and get subbed off in the first half of a game a year or so from now8 -
He won POTM in his first month so despite the fact he is a winger and not a wingback he is capable in a wingback system if you’re willing to give up the defensive stability for his attacking threat. Problem is to get that to work you need Bell and Edwards to both be fit to allow Apter to get forward.I’m more confused at the fact we looked as if we went to a 4231 after Apter got subbed and we kept Hernandez on the wing over him.5

Felt sorry for him yesterday and with the way things are going i wouldn't be surprised if he puts in a transfer request in January. Unless Jones changes the way he sets up (highly unlikely) then he's very rarely going to feature and if i'm Apter i'm definitely considering my future.
If he isn't going to be played in a position that utilises his strengths (ie. an attacking role) then there's really not much point him being here.3 -
Wouldn’t be surprised if we try to bring in Fukuda and Bree in January loan out Apter to an Oxford/QPR for 6 months and try and recoup our money next summer1

The issue with dropping TC for Apter is the lopsided way we play.
Early in the season we'd essentially play
_______________Kaminski
___Ramsay _____Jones___ Bell
_________Docherty Coventry______ Edwards
Apter___________ Carey
________________Kelman ________TC
So Apter pushing right up, Edwards not as far forward, TC moving wide left, Ramsay occupying the half space between RB and RCB, creating a weird 352/4231 hybrid.
If you reverse that, with Apter playing instead of TC, you'd need to rethink the whole thing. The players we have in the squad currently, the best bet would be
________________Kaminski
______Burke______ Jones_____ Bell
Bree_______ Docherty Coventry
_________________Carey ___________Edwards
Apter __________Kelman
But we don't have a super attacking LWB at the club, unless you play TC there instead of Edwards.
And it's all moot anyway when you consider you need Bell, Burke, Edwards and Kelman to all be fit for it to work anyway5 -
I guarantee if you played that, Apter would produce a lot more than TC does . When Bree and Bell have played wing back, it’s not been that lopsided this year so I’m not worried about Edwards and Bree as wing backs.! I feel sorry for Apter - you could argue he could have tracked Manning better but Hernandez’s attempts at defending on the other side were woefulsam3110 said:The issue with dropping TC for Apter is the lopsided way we play.

The easy solution to that is to play TC/Hernandez at LWB but you would need either Bell or Edwards at LCB, it doesn’t work with the immobile Gillesphey theresam3110 said:The issue with dropping TC for Apter is the lopsided way we play.

Unfortunately for Rob Apter he chose the wrong club to come to 🤷🏻♂️
I must have had my crystal ball or possibly my youth manager's brain plugged in because as soon as I saw his video when he was and is a talented player with the ball at his feet I thought he needs to be an attacking player as there was no defensive play just in attacking mode and I stated after his good debut and his first few games as a wing back that it will end in tears if either Ramsey doesn't play to cover him or if a Championship team hit form on the day and expose the defensive weaknesses out wide as it's not quantum mechanics when a move breaks down around the oppositions box then a wing back can't get back in time to cover the fast transition. The Saints were excellent, Cafc disjointed and the rest is history.
Sheer carnage resulted with everyone out of shape and form.
Losing Edwards, Bell on the left of defence is a big blow and Bree on the right who's form had dipped but is better defensively obviously than a player like Rob who's skills are going forward.
Excellent corner from Apter early on and a couple of good crosses but he was exposed for the 1st or 2nd it was difficult to keep count as we were exposed on the wings and down the middle.
Finally yesterday Nathan admitted that having two wingers/attacking wide players trying to do defensive duties isn't ideal !
Injuries yet again have affected a good start but no bull shit from me but Rob Apter and agent chose the wrong club if we carry on playing 'this way.'
'This way' had given CAFC a better start than most thought but reality is a bastard.

Clearly not a wing back so I have no idea why we’ve signed him.1

Not sure why everyone is saying he doesn’t fit the system. He was our best player in August playing in that exact system
All he needs is us to have a defensive LWB available so that he can be much more attacking from the right
He’s been unlucky that Bree joined and was very good, and then Edwards and Bell both being injured means we don’t have the balance for Apter to be effective
He definitely can fit the system, we literally saw it. The problem at the moment is with no Edwards or Bell available we can’t actually play our normal system11 -
Can't play him instead of TC because TC os our only attacking outlet half the time and what relies in his pace, Apter hasn't got much pace and would need fast runners into the box which we dont have.0

Definitely agree he can play in this system but do find it strange NJ would gamble so much money on a player who’s reliance on whether he can play effectively or not is determined by the availability of other players rather than his qualityNabySarr said:Not sure why everyone is saying he doesn’t fit the system. But that’s how good teams fit together, they cover each other’s weaknesses and allow strengths to shine. Poor teams are less likely to have a system and players that fit together so well.Crispywood said:

The reverse is true for Apter, his attacking play allowed Edwards to sit deeper and have lower expectations for what he needs to add in attack.6 -
