He let a QPR player sneak past him to score then had a poor half against Millwall, and his replacement has essentially been some unearthly hybrid of Beckham and Cafu. He'll get another go soon

Hasn’t really done anything wrong but has been replaced by a natural wing back that Nathan Jones has worked with before and loves. Just been unlucky really

Lots of bizarre assumptions being made on that forum.

He’s done very well overall and was unlucky to lose his place to someone who’s arguably been the best player in our side since he arrived.

Apter still has an important part to play this season and beyond. Have no doubts that he’s a Championship calibre player.

Wouldn't be concerned at all , Bree has come in and been absolutely outstanding, Apter still has a big role to play , maybe not at RWB but he'll get plenty of chances.

    (Sonny has been absolutely class)

Nathan had been playing him as a wingback, which I dont believe is his best position. Then NJ decided a more experienced & older player could do the job better. Just so happened that this older player created the winner in his first  game & next game scored.......and then scored a worldy so is now undroppable.

Feel sorry for Rob Apter. He wont fit in & we'll sell him next season like we did with Alfie May

He's very unlucky to be out of the team.

Very unlucky to be dropped for Bree, who came in and continued to score/assist. I have no doubt Apter will be back in the team, he's a good player.

He’s done nothing wrong and in my opinion , has been harshly treated . I the first few games he’s was easily our most creative player alongside Carey .
I have a feeling that to get Bree to the club he’s been promised first team football and that’s why he’s out of the team . He hasn’t even been coming on as sub which is odd as well . He’d be in starting 11 all day long .

He's been good, Bree's been better so far, just bad luck for him really.

Apter will become a very good player for us but I can't see it being in the RWB role. I'd like to see him in the 10 role at some point if Carey is out or coming on to replace Carey.

BTW thanks for Sonny, he's been excellent.

OK attacking but his crossing wasn't the best.

Defending not great but not his strength.

    Bree is better at both.

Early days as he adapts to a new manager, new position, new club and new division.

Carey has been the better of the two Blackpool acquisitions so far.

Bit of a mixed bag really. His cause not helped by Jones tried and tested system and being let loose to really show what he can do.
That said, I thought he looked very league one against Millwall and got brushed aside at QPR a few times. He was excellent against Watford.
Reckon Jones has got him in the gym 24/7 and is plying him with protein shakes!
  • I wouldn't say he's been unlucky really, it's not as if he set the world alight against QPR and Millwall. I know he scored at QPR but it was a pretty fortunate goal and then Bree came in and has done superbly so deserves his place in the side.

I'm not even sure Apter should be playing as a wing back anyway. Personally i'd like to see him given a go higher up the pitch late on in games when he can run at a tired defence.

If we change to a more conventional back 4 and wingers, he'll be great. In our hybrid formation he isn't quite good enough defensively to excel in the role, and going forwards he was pacy and direct, but final ball wasn't as good as Bree's has been, and he's a bit lightweight.

He’ll be back, this happens with NJ sometimes. It’s unlikely to mean they’ve fallen out, I’m sure he’ll get game time soon enough.

Bree won’t be scoring and assisting all season long. Not a criticism, just going off the stats - he’s scored 6 in his career across 300+ games, including the 2 recent goals for us.

I still think pace, width, flair and dribbling ability is needed on both sides of the pitch. While Bree does offer something going forward, that’s not really his game.

It might take a while because NJ loves a consistent player and Bree is proven at this level, but sooner than later Apter will get a chance off the bench and if he can make an impact he may be in the starting 11 again.

Playing wing back isn’t the issue, the way we change shape in and out of possession means he attacks like a winger, he just has to track back to form a back five and he was generally doing that well enough. Defending isn’t his strength but the RWB/RW hybrid role isn’t about being a top defender, that’s why we have Ramsay or Burke behind that player.

I’d be surprised if we end up loaning him out.
  • Great littler player, but Bree fits the current system a bit better. Apter has the upper body strength of a cheese string, so he would be better focusing mostly on attacking. 4-4-2, perhaps.

Good player but, yes, after QPR especially he was seen as a bit of a liability defensively and Bree came in and has done really well. But, Apter is a good player and I’m sure he’ll get his chance and he’ll probably take it. I hope so anyway.

Great line that one, had to laugh...😂

    ...Could also apply to TC...

It's almost like he isn't a right wing back and a natural right wing back was brought in to take his place

He's good though @Hertsseasider he has just found it hard to get in the team over a player who has found form and proven at this level.

Think he would be a lot better in an attacking system as he is undoubtedly in my eyes our most positive/dangerous attacking threat, just doesn't offer what Bree does defensively, yet.

I think possibly Ramsay losing his place hasn't helped him either, as I'm not sure Burke has the pace to cover for him in the same way.

I expect the plan was always to have an attacking player to compete with a more defensive option for the RWB spot.

I’m sure Apter wasn’t signed to play elsewhere and temporarily filled in at RWB. He’s the competiton for Bree and I think he’ll play there again at some point.

Maybe when Bree gets cheesed off?
  • Got replaced for a tactical change against an opponent and his replacement has been our best player. Simple really, just a bit of bad luck and having a competitive squad.

Sounds like quite a few on that Blackpool forum ain't too surprised with him not playing regular, and think he was maybe over rated...🤷‍♂️

Don't tell them that they finished 9th last season and he played in all bar one of their League games, starting in 40 of those and that they are currently 23rd because they might not get the tenuous link.

If he goes to Blackpool- will he go for Apter?
  • Not seen enough of him to make a real decision but first thoughts are he is a skillfully player with Championship technique. But he is tiny and light weight and not great defensively.  Not sure where he fits in our current formation.
Hope he comes good but it's not a certainty.
