Can’t remember the last time we had a second half at that intensity at this level of football. A couple of the games in the run in to the 18/19 promotion season under Bowyer, the Luton 3-1 win sticks in my mind, but that was league one. This is a step up with a team that has just been promoted and the second 45 were great to watch.
I think Blackburn were quite open in the way they were trying to get back into the game, but take nothing away from what I thought was the first performance of the season where our attacking intent clicked.
too many individuals were on top of their game today, so very hard to pick a stand out. I thought Bell was great. Really took to having to play out wide. Bree, bloody hell, it’s like he’s had a whole preseason and has been here for years.
Hats off to Jones as well. I know a lot of people might pull Kelman up on his contribution again today, as he does look a little isolated, but I think Jones wants him to the 60/70 minutes, and then he can bring on the likes of Tanto and Leaburn who were absolutely devastating when they came on. Blackburn couldn’t deal with either of them and it was the perfect double substitution to tip the game in our favour.
A word for Carey as well. How many players would’ve held up play at that point waiting for reinforcements. He had the confidence to ping it from there
I won’t get carried away and forget the twists and turns of a long season in a division where clubs are spending 20/30m on squads, but I have positivity that we have enough to be in the division next year, and fingers crossed, more investment, more momentum
That was rather lovely wasn't it? I went into the game not really having any expectations other than the fact this game will be a good representation of what a chunk of the league will be, and it turns out that "Struggling" Charlton are anything but that! Thought the attendance was pretty decent, and the atmosphere was excellent throughout. There was a 15/20 minute period in the first half where we were both cancelling each other out and actually felt a bit flat.. Josh's injury doesn't look good and credit to the guy for wanting to carry on too, but you could tell instantly that it's a concern.
Up steps Macca who put on one of the best substitute displays you're going to see for a while, he didn't show any signs of not being match fit and looked more than alert and ready, I'm so happy he scored quickly as it makes a huge statement! Still think he'll struggle to get in but he may get a few games if Josh is out for a while to certainly make his mark and give Jones a headache.
Second half though, we just clicked. We looked unplayable at times and caught Blackburn off guard completely, dispossessing them and creating constant attack after attack, Kelman showing glimpses again and TC looking hungry for a goal too, luck didn't fall their way today but I like their contributions and wearing their backline down
Tanto and Miles just look like an absolute nightmare for opposition though, they were so full of energy and just ripped them up completely. Special credit to Tanto for that 2nd goal and a few other moments too when he just was fantastic.
What I'm going to take from this result is that it's a massive team result, everyone just played so well together and really seem to be all in sync together. I'm not going to let myself get carried away, but I think this and the last 2 games have shown that we've got that spark together now, yes we're going to lose some games, but we're going to win a lot of games too now and play damn well each time too. I think we're in for a great season together
Can we stop singing about going up into the Premier League though please!

Maybe if got into the box more often he would not be isolated, there was a play were TC won the ball made it to the bye line and had to cross into an empty area, where was Kelman is he not a forward.
Amazing Alfie May scoring for us. The mind boggles. Fantastic today Charlton, we didn’t give them a sniff, superb from everyone today. Come on you reds.
Lots of people calling for Oloafe and Leaburn to start and I can see why because they were immense when they came on.
But they’re coming on to a tired defence because Campbell has worn them out. In my opinion, while the tactics are working, keep them as the strong, powerful, hungry game chasers that they are.
Oloafe feels like Chuks with pace and a body that can cope with being a professional footballer.
So buzzing after today.
Derby, Preston, Sheffield Wednesday next. All of a sudden this league feels like we have nothing to fear.
Nathan Jones is just a brilliant manager. Compare him with his counterpart today who stood with his hands in his pockets all game and came out and blamed the ref despite his team performing like they just wanted to go home, it’s chalk and cheese.
It was the intensity of the 2nd half performance that stood out for me. Dominated them physically all over the pitch and the substitutions absolutely killed them. Haven't seen us do that to to another team for a long time.
I've don't think I've ever seen a team when so many balls of the opposition in their final third as we did today. Great stuff oh and I thought the ref was good as well would much rather seeing a ref that let's most things go than an whistle happy one
Please tell me this is a wind-up? He was absolutely awful - bad decisions all game, with the icing on the cake when he gave a goal kick to Blackburn right at the end which was a clear corner. Even Steve Brown who had been trying to defend him said "no he's awful" at that!
No I don't want a ref who gives Todd Cantwell free kicks every time he falls over or books Lloyd for his first tackle from behind as many would. Anyway we won we were great onwards and upwards
Sonney Carey has been a revelation. A free transfer due to his contract expiring, probably Charlton fans thought that he was a punt, coming from Blackpool. What has impressed me is his workrate and the pace that he plays at. There was a moment during todays game when he did a lung busting retrieval, when our defence had been broken, and put in a tremendous tackle to snuff out a goal scoring opportunity. I never thought he would show the skill and workrate that he has demonstrated, and to top it off a fantastic 25m drive today, to score our second goal, to aliviate our anxiety. Hats off Sonny Carey, you are a hell of a player, and I'm glad that you a Charlton player.
I watched our U18s beat Colchester United 6-0 in the morning. Then had a Millwall fan (in a Barcelona shirt) threatening to beat me up on the bus for supporting Charlton. Of course, he was all mouth and this quickly changed to bragging about how they were above us in the league. Well, they aren't any more.
Seeing nine Charlton goals in a day is certainly a first and it should have been double figures.
Charlton 9 Apoel Nicosia 0 ....................Only us old gits will remember
Great performance for 70 mins. Right up until the finishing. Today worried me that in games that are tighter with chances fewer, lack of final product is going to cost us our rightful league position. Sorry for being negative. Great day overall.
Can i be the first to say that 1) We always moan about the ref 2) I didnt think he was that bad tbh.
I think he got most decisions correct, but the yellow cards were ridiculous. We won a freekick on the edge of their area in the first half when the player was through. No yellow. Jones barely touched the Blackburn player in the centre circle and it was yellow. The yellow after the miss control they went for a throw was ridiculous too.

Saturday at Preston could even be a playoff 6 pointer
Watching the Sky highlights, they didn't show a single Blackburn attack
That’s it!
Referee was awful
Hope Edwards injury isnt a bad one
....but also because, not for the first time, I'm unable to do justice to this afternoon's performance.
I'm aware that other Lifers appear to feel that in this instance, fewer words hit the spot & a rarely flummoxed Fanny is reduced to joining them.
So here's my word for today's almost flawless performance from ALL concerned.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Nite nite, dear friends. And sweet dreams of what might just be something extraordinary x
2) I didnt think he was that bad tbh.
