OK I'll say it and give me as much stick as you like.
We threw away a really good chance of advancing in the Caraboa cup by playing our reserve/youth team and resting the first team. A first team who looked in the first 20 minutes if they were still resting!
In fairness, we didn't deserve to lose that but I think some sky high expectations after the first two games have been popped today. If we don't start scoring when we are on top it is going to be a long winter.
Comments coming in from Rich Cawley Nathan Jones unhappy about the fact Mbengue not given a second yellow for his foul on Kelman when the score was 1-1.
#cafc boss says that referee told him it wasn't penalised further due to the attack "not being in a promising position".
WTF has that got to do with things
Its speak for: "I didn't have the guts to make the decision, so need to come up with some bollocks excuse"
Campbell did not know how to deal with that situation that led to the goal. Godden would have moved the ball to the right and invited a sliding challenge, gone down in a heap and get a free kick. Leaburn looks a handful but needs help up top and having a player who disappears for long periods in the game, in Campbell, is certainly not helping him at all. The right wing back position is a problem, and I'm sure that will be addressed but it's the front players who are the focus and, in my opinion, rightly so.
Deep joy, Millwall next game. QPR looked a bang average Championship side. We look a top six League one team. We need to bridge that gap if we are to survive. Lot more difficult tests to come. Our strength is our defence, but today we didn’t defend properly. Kelman was hardly given a pass worthy of the name. I am not convinced by Knibbs. But it is early days and we need to regroup and come back fighting for the Millwall game.
The shite long ball that we started playing until their first goal didn’t help either.
They just started brighter than us, and that was the only outlet against the high press they used, we soon got on top of them, but failed to capatalise...
Thought our best (small) phase of play was when Campbell actually moved inside for a few minutes and played right up next to Leaburn. Led to him having that chance down the middle and nodding it down for Leaburn to shoot over.
Think we're much better with two strikers playing close to each other than Campbell receiving the ball out wide and Leaburn ending up isolated.

WTF has that got to do with things, no the ref was amateur at best, and that could be a slant on amateurism...
Not only is that a bullshit rule from the ref, it was right on the edge of the box!
Given that our next game is home to the spanners it gave more importance on us getting a result today.
Should we not beat the spanners, even allowing for a draw, we'll comfortably be bottom six.
I'm a fan of Jones and have every faith that he'll give it a bloody good
go in trying to keep us up. This season was always going to be
difficult after 5 seasons in the 3rd division.
We have been given a decent budget, Jones has gone with players he
knows, plus getting decent 3rd division players. On paper it has been
decent recruitment so it comes down to if they can gel and get the
results.

Why are our free kicks and corners so absolutely hopeless? All constantly overhit today. And much as I love Josh Edwards his free kick in a really promising situation which sailed over the bar was unacceptable.
A frustrating game. Compared to Leicester game, we looked shot of confidence, QPR quicker and stronger all over the pitch. First half, poor. Resorted to just hopeful long ball forwards, constantly giving the ball away and inviting counter attacks that qpr obliged. Qpr should of been 2 goals up in first 10 mins. Only time we played ball, Leaburn hit the bar. Competed more second half, got back into it with a scrappy goal, at that point probably deserved. But then we fell apart again following the subs. Baffling today from NJ. Apter off, TC over to the right, Kelman covering the left infront of Edwards left us completely exposed down the left. Looked for a winner, once again QPR hit on the break and got themselves the winner. Went on to lose all shape and QPR got the 3rd. Set pieces today were atrocious, not good enough for this division. Some poor decisions at the end from Edwards, he lost his head after being exposed. And that brings us to TC. Anonymous for the first 50 mins. Lost the ball resulting in counter attacks on 3 or 4 occasions, nothing would stick. Then around 50 mins, came alive, was excellent for 15-20 mins caused havoc, before losing the ball again resulting in QPR scoring the winner. After Leicester loss, there was still a feel good factor but a loss midweek against lesser opponent and again today, 3 back to back, and suddenly it's starting to feel ugly.
Its very early days and we all know we'll lose more than we win in this league but we shouldnt have lost that game. Qpr no great shakes and we had more than enough of the ball and enough decent deadball situations to get more than the 1 goal but we didnt and thats a worry. TC shouldve gone down in the area for what would surely have been a penalty, even that plank in black wouldve given it and they shouldve been down to 10 men for what was an obvious 2nd yellow. The game wouldve changed on those decisions,no doubt. A good time for the international break, time for a reset. COYR.

If anyone remembers the 4-0 defeat at the Den, when Parky left Lloyd Sam on the bench because he didn't think he could handle the intensity of that atmosphere, then it's good indication that we can't have players going missing in the home game against Millwall or we will get spanked.

Going away from goal though...
Agreed but pound to a pinch of shit he wouldve been booked if he wasnt already on a yellow
Terrible start that they capitalised on meant it always felt like we were chasing the game even when we equalised. We just don't create enough clear cut chances and that means that we're reliant on the defence being flawless again and all three centre backs had dodgy moments unfortunately. Add to that Edwards being hugely wasteful on the ball and Apter being muscled off everything and we invited goals. We bypassed our midfield in a way that didn't help us; Campbell kept receiving the ball with his back to goal and getting knocked off it, Leaburn won headers but they were swept up and Carey was anonymous. We were decent overall though, the longer the game went on the more it looked like we'd be the winners but some atrocious defending against one player running from his own half did us in. The big issue is that we don't have a threatening centre forward. Leaburn did his best but he's young, and Kelman once again failed to impose himself. At our best last season Godden was always involved, always threatened, always gave defences something to think about but we don't have that right now and it makes us easier to defend against. Carey was really poor today but Knibbs hasn't made much of an impact when he has played yet.
It doesn't tell the whole story but we can point at some terrible decisions though; we could have had a pen, they definitely should have had a red that the ref bottled and TC should have had a free kick right before their goal. The ref was inconsistent and weird throughout. Kone got away with a really nasty one to the head of Jones as well, really poor reffing.
What I will say though is that people really need to calm down. We've gone up a division and have to adapt. We've spent years in L1 miserable and I know it's broken some people's brains irreparably but the amount people are screeching at the players in the match thread already feels like it did when we'd concede against Port Vale and it's making it a less enjoyable experience than it could be. It's different now, the games are harder, a bit more patience wouldn't hurt.
Harsh on Carey. He got on the ball as much as he could but never had an attacking player to pass it to. You could see the difference when Knibbs came on as he might as well not have been there.
Very disappointed but we don’t appear to have any real threat up front. Apart from the obvious lack of quality in crossing we did not drive forward. I’m starting to get somewhat concerned regarding Kelman and Knibbs. The were both anonymous this afternoon again and I can only recall the free kick that was awarded to Kelman as he’s contribution for being on the pitch. I don’t want to start picking on players as its far too early to do so but the question is are we playing to his strengths or is it the hoof football thats not to his liking?
Unless you've got Fash the Bash or Niall Quinn playing alongside you, which goal scorer is going to suit hoofball?
We look toothless upfront, Leaburn needs support up there and I don’t get why Jones took off Carey before Docherty.
Knibbs needs a start now, these little cameos aren’t doing anything - I have my doubts about Kelman but the same goes for him, play 2 up top and when Godden comes back, we’ve got competition for places.
Really like Apter, Campbell is inconsistent but did well today
I hope our season isn’t a case of played well but lost by the odd goal each week.
Neither TC nor Apter are RWBs. Neither have the defensive nous. Apter was the wrong side of Smyth when he scored and TC has never looked comfortable in that position which is why NJ moved him up front. We need the equivalent of Edwards on the right. However, unless NJ works out how our front 3 can score goals we will really struggle even if we become more solid in defence
4 points from 4 games.sadly a point a game gets us relegated.we neef to improve
Bit early for the "R" word, that won't be happening...
Not sure if it won't happen, but even if it does, you cant predict what'll happen in August... Last season the three relegated teams had 1-pt (Luton and Cardiff), 2-pts (Plymouth) and were ironically the bottom three teams after four games.
We need to sort out how we operate in the final third. The defence today was shocking, however, it has been good more times than not over the past year. Focus on how we attack and how we supply the ball to strikers, change some personnel around and hopefully we can start motoring. Watford lured us into a false sense of security and we have struggled since

I actually wonder if we might be better off changing formation to a 4-4-2 diamond unless we can bring in a RWB of first team standard it does seem to be a bit of a problem for us at the moment and if we can’t bring someone in then maybe change the shape.
