2 frustrating games back to back but trust Nathan to get it right eventually, if we can beat Millwall in a couple of weeks all of a sudden the vibes will be bright and rosey again no doubt35
-
There was blood in the water but we didn’t have a spear. Then we tripped and fell overboard.21
-
Hope Jones goes over some of "the basics" in the next 2 weeks with them all, like how to take a set piece, and when to stay on your feet and when to throw yourself to the floor....
Expect to see a different side against the scum, and hopefully our own reaction to a loss that we saw from QPR today3 -
Some positives but set pieces shocking25
-
Concerning loss against a poor QPR side. I'm worried we may not have good enough attacking quality.14
-
QPR deserved to win the game but they didn't even need to be that good. We were so naive, poor defensively, and with a midfield that was non-existent at times. It's such a shame we didn't get Galbraith because he may have transformed our fortunes in that area. It was the weakest part of our team last season, and thus far, we've only added Carey. I'm worried that's not going to be enough.
Going forwards, again I'm not sure if we have the quality. Saito picks that ball up and charges straight for goal, drops a shoulder, slots it in. We see our players pick it up in similar positions all the time. They drives forwards, check back and pass sideways, or else scuff it. The quality is once against the difference. Even our goal was scuffed.

No need to panic but maybe we should have played a few first teamers on Tuesday. We didn't look our usual self although a draw was probably the fair result.4
-
Very concerning. We can be as solid as you like at the back, and while that might work in League One, you need an attacking threat. Otherwise you’ll get punished by more talented players like Saito.Transfer window shuts next week, we’re not in for an attacker, but we should have been.1
-
We should have had a pen and them a red card.
But our resident gooner thinks referees only impact results against his team.1 -
As much as I think the TC criticism is overboard I don’t understand why Jones keeps putting him at RWB when Apter has been playing well. It weakens us on both flanks as TC isn’t a RWB22

It's funny. We got promoted because our defense were excellent and kept a lot of clean sheets.
So we change up the defense with new recruitment and largely keep the midfield and attack the same (in the starting line-up).
We don't have enough quality in the final third and, whilst that remains, we will struggle this year.3 -

That little bit of quality was the difference3

Lots of positives to take from a game we were the better team in.Finishing isn’t one of them. Is Godden the answer?
are we allowed to be worried about Kelman yet?0 -
A lot of us thought that there would be a big reaction from QPR to their heavy defeat last week and so it proved.
We needed to get on the front foot quickly but took far too long to get into the game, but then in the last 20 minutes of the first half and for much of the second we gave at least as good as we got. But QPR were solid in defence and much more incisive in attack and could have extended their lead before Rob Apter’s goal pulled us level. Then it might have gone either way but QPR were that bit more fluid and dangerous, making and taking their chance to go ahead again.
I think we are seeing the quality difference between League One and the Championship. There aren’t any easy games at this level but anyone could beat anyone else on their day. Today wasn’t our day.

Its not pretty but at the very least we need to go back to grinding out a couple of 0-0s, like last season, where we're absolutely confident that the Defence can be relied upon, and then work on the attack.
Agree with Fen, we need a backup RWB option for Apter2 -

Kamakazi attacking substitutions at the end made the scoreline look far worse than it should have .Absolutely no shape to the team by the end .Again our finishing is letting us down and the set pieces today didn’t help .I know it sounds like he’s being used as a scapegoat but TC just isn’t up to it .If he doesn’t fall to the floor for the umpteenth time we don’t lose that game yet he’s still on the pitch at the end.NJ had a mare today and he probably knows it0
-
oh well back to the usual frustration. So many set pieces wasted and the side looking as they are not used to playing with each other.

I think we all new that the championship was a much tougher league than league one and so it's proving.
We have pretty much a full squad to choose from and we've just been beat by a side that lost 7 1 last Saturday.
We simply must be more clinical in our finishing than we currently have been.
NJ has 5 strikers to choose from and he has to work out our best partnership up front.
I'm not going to join in the pile on regarding Campbell as he's only 20 and still learning, but I believe he needs a spell on the bench and give others a chance to start.
We will I'm sure learn from games like today and as long as we stay up that's fine by me.16 -
Last week I said I had concerns over the lack of ability to score. I was told not to worry because we were playing well and the goals will come. Well I saw nothing in that game that leads me to believe we will be able to adapt to this league in the way we need to. Poor offensively, poor defensively. Poor decision to start/keep tc on. Poor all around2

NATHEN JONES and the love affair with TC being messi needs to stop! Only game we have won this season he was off the pitch! WHY BUY STRIKERS if your not playing them?6

Wing-backs could be considered both. But unsure why the core Doc, Coventry, Leaburn, TC are still the first choices when they weren't our strength last season.1 -

Some of the comments from the end of the match thread are brilliant. It really wasn’t dogshit or horrendous.
We lost 3-1 in the championship. The 3rd goal was as we pushed in the final stages - always a risk.
we clearly need some attention focussed on attacking threat but if Leaburn hits that under the bar in the first half it’s a different game.
We’ll lose a lot more this season, but we’ll win some as well. Some balance and perspective will definitely help some cope with a Saturday afternoons football.51
