    A proper manager
    A proper engaged fanbase
    A set of proper owners

2019 felt like the end of something with that squad, 2025 feels like the start

  • Agree so many comments. After the game drained. So much tension. Scoring early made rest of game knife edge. Seems a 0-0 until 85th minute a lot less stressful.
    But we did it.
    Well done Nathan Jones.

Chris Powell - took over January 2011, won L1 April 2012
Lee Bowyer - took over March 2018, won the playoffs May 2019
Nathan Jones - took over February 2014, won the playoffs May 2025

In L1, you CAN turn things around quite quickly, with the right manager and recruitment.
Jones has taken his time hasn’t he ?
It's been a long and liquid day  :D

PWR, just got home from a fantastic day. Things like this don’t happen to us very often, make the most of it. I’m very pissed.

As I explained to my mate.

This is league one football, it ain't great, but you make sure you're fit, you are brave, you make every challenge, contest every header, and kick the ball out of play when the need arises.  I salute Nathan Jones, we are rid of League One football!

Pretty legendary performances from Lloydy and Macca today. A superb defensive play from them that won us the game.

Not on board with the people who say that was a poor performance - we were in control of that match, bar from a 10 minute spell Orient had.

I thought Nathan requesting and waving the Welsh flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 was a nice touch.

Anyone thought it detracted from the achievement of the team?

With the hindsight of 18 months, last January's transfer window was massive. Macca, Coventry, Ramsay, plus REG who was a handy squad player and ended up starting a playoff final for another side.

The board took a lot of stick last season, a lot of it rightly so. But that window was huge. And it's a good reminder, for me anyway, that transfer windows are judged in months and years and not days and weeks.
    Small too.

Nathan is what he is, what you see is what you get. Start taking bits away, and he stops being who he is.

That’s a great summary. Really good watch.
They really didn’t want us to win did they?
Probably as for once, we were not the underdog.

Exactly this, other fans hate him but while he's our manager and winning us promotion he can do what he wants

I also think it was a great redemption story for him, he was derided during his brief spell at a Southampton and didn't work out at Stoke which obviously impacted him

    Another great summary thanks LookOut!

Seriously though your match summaries at the start of the post match threads are the first thing I turn to every Sunday morning downunder.

What a day. So tired from it all but I'm Addickted to catching up on everything on here and social media.

Went into the game hoping we'd see another very strong defensive performance, because when we do we only need one goal to win a game. Exactly how it played out and to keep 3 clean sheets in 3 playoff games has been outstanding.

Looking forward to seeing how things shape up over the summer and where NJ takes us from here. Last summer we had to rebuild, now we've got real solid foundations to add to and tweak. Without a doubt we need some good signings, but I'm confident we'll bring them in as well as continuing to improve the players we have.

On a personal level nice to have made more of a day of it with my dad, after not being able to in 2019 when we arrived so close to kick off. Charlton at Wembley doesn't come around often, hopefully the next one isn't decades away and is something bigger than the L1 playoff final!
