Whatever you say about the lack of first team squad there was no excuse for those players playing that badly. There was only one team that looked like they would win even with the chances we had late on in the game. How Stevenson put that header over the bar from the position he was in I will never know. It looked harder to miss.

You can’t just bring the horses out when they are needed. They have to be trained, acclimatised and exercised. No idea why there would be so many officers in uniform.
For the game itself, Marshall was excellent. Needs to show that form when given a chance in the league. Sarr and Dijksteel have their faults but both had fair games today. The front 2 were dreadful and this does not bode well if they are required later on in the season.
Clarke is not ready yet. Understandable after a long lay off.
I was at the game today and as soon as I saw the team Bowyer had picked it was obvious that we would lose. Was this team selection justified ?. I'll answer that at 5pm next Saturday.
I'm going to Blackpool next week and if we pick up 3 points I will have no complaints over today s performance. Anything less than 3 points next Saturday means today was an opportunity lost.
It'll take a lot more than one win next week to make me think Bowyer got that right today.

How many fucking rests do they need? I dont the exact nmbers, but what with International breaks etc, i dont recall there being that many games over the past month or so.
I am so annoyed i don't know where to start. But coming home and seeing LB has said he's not really fussed has really tipped me over the edge. Well Lee if your not bothered by cup games kindly have the decency to inform the fans of this fact ! FA cup game .. it was more like a poor midweek reserve game. Shocking decision to not even have an option on the bench. Im a big fan of LB but today i think he has let the fans down big time. Anyway i have now decided that will be my last cup game ... if the managers not bothered then why should us fans be.

Sorry mate that's bollocks. If it was Portsmouth away this Tuesday and we won, then I'd be in agreement. But if we're serious about promotion we should be beating teams like Blackpool without needing 10 plus days rest.

It’s really not that simple, is it? If we lose do you think he will accept he was wrong? Of course not. It’s all based on hypotheticals, the main one being that if a player had been injured today then that would somehow prove that player shouldn’t have been included. There’s a balance to be struck and the consensus seems to be that Bowyer went too far today, but what happens next week or at the end of the season is inconclusive because what would have happened today and the effect it might have had can’t be proven.
Didn't go today new what to expect and called it right. If we had a decent squad it could have been different. We have a good first 11 when all fit so to me no great surprise.
IMHO only one person to blame for a weak squad, yes the useless twat that lives in Belgium.

What happens if we come out, with say, 1 point from next 2 games, and get a relative tonking from Pompey (likely the way we've been playing recently)? Bowyer is going to look a prize prick- if he hasnt already. I think i'll track this post.
We ain't got squad depth, our last half decent cup run nearly cost us relegation, if being out THE FA Cup coukd guarantee us a play off spot I'd swap it in a heartbeat for an away loss against Birmingham or whoever the fk we would have got had we won.
We got relegated after our quarter final at sheff United? Might as well say we got relegated last time from the 1947 fa Cup run.
If we had had the depth of squad that we had under Powell in 2011 then yeah I would probably agree. But get a grip our squad is too thin to take too thin many chances.
Putting aside the main topic...some player thoughts;
Thought RHF showed some excellent touches and he clearly has ability. But he's pretty weak and needs to get himself a non-league starting place to toughen up.
I like Wiredu. If he fills out, his positive play will be good to watch (not least because it's positive and not sideways and back).
Taylor-Mahoney was better than at Mansfield. Nicked a few things and got more involved.
Stevenson was ok but no more. Another one that needs regular games now (for someone else). Miscontrolled when he was in for a shot and put his header over but he could turn out ok. Looks a bit one-paced.
Morgan was a bit disappointing. He struggled to get near Donny in midfield.
Marshall tried so hard and saw more of the ball than ever.
Phillips made some good saves but may have played his last game of the season.
I wasn't expecting much from today and I certainly wasn't dissapointed in that regard. If today showed one thing it's that after the first 11 the cupboard at Charlton is almost empty, so I can't really blame Bowyer for changing most of the team for a match that contributes nothing toward promotion other than getting a few players some much-needed game time. If Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant get injured and we have to rely on today's forward line, we are completely screwed.
Thumbs up for Marshall who did well even though his crossing can still be a bit approximate. I haven't seen much of Hackett-Fairchild but if that's how he normally plays, I don't see much of a future for him as a forward.
Firstly I can see and understand why a lot of fans that attended the game expect the club & management to care and make all effort to progress in the cup. If not declare your not fussed during the pre interview in the week so fans can decide if they want to be fussed in going.
Its a tidy few bob spent by fans taking their youngsters to any game, it might not matter to Bowyer but it bloody well matters to kids that care about the cup game today not some league match in a weeks time. In fact history is marked with teams doing well in the respective leagues below the premiership and still having good cup runs. If it was some Mickey mouse cup we have all come to expect it but the FA Cup is a money spinner and still the best club cup tournament in the world of football.
I accept it has been devalued from what it used to be by the Wengers and other prima Donna Premiership top dogs but they still revel in their Wembley appearances when they have won feck all else as they are expected. For any club outside of the Prem it can be the making of them. Bradford FC had one foot in the National League only a couple of seasons back yet a cup run got their fans back on side and made money to invest in the team and gain a promotion.
Sure it is likely money wasted on our current clown owner if we did make it but, this was Bowyer's decision to throw the opportunity away . I would have thought it likely if a decent offer comes in for any of a better players in January, Roland will take the cash, but even so it begs the question if Bowyer made decent money with some kind of cup run it would give him a good argument to RD to strengthen or at least not weaken the squad.
I do not buy in to this convenient catch phrase the FA cup match doesn't matter because we have a league game next week. It is proven to be a load of boll&x by teams doing the opposite every season by having good cup runs and keeping their league results positive.
Afka and others that went today expecting a stronger team selection have a right to be pissed off in my view especially when the manager admits he's not fussed..
